PdC flag sighting! At 1:39 and 1.57.
Unfortunately we were positioned at the corner where the fixed camera swung by really fast, so you can't see it that clearly. But I'm the girl in the green t-shirt, and omne is in the whitish plaid.
Anyone got a spare 295 000 euro?
Want to buy a converted old winery in the south of France? I stayed at this place in April, and it was just delightful. I'm sorry they're selling it, as I was really looking forwards to going back.
Anyway, now I'm thinking: PdC headquarters for the TdF? Anyone in?
Tour de Romandie Stage 2 - report

On Thursday I went to see stage 2 of the Tour de Romandie, in Fribourg. This report won't be quite as autiovisually moo-tastic as Will's was, but we can't all be gifted.

Are we sick of de Ronde yet? I finally got my video uploaded. Apolgies for the crappy camera work - I was bit too excited to actually keep the camera on the riders the whole time. But I think you get the general gist - Boonen comes round the corner first, Cancellara takes the inside line and just powers past. Unfortunatle I turned away before the massive gap opened up, but it happened very fast!

A friend pointed out to me recently that Saxo Bank riders don't wear jersey stripes indicating they are former national champions (see Nikki Sorensen and Frank S above for examples). Neither of us knew why that might be.
Anyone got any ideas? Is it just a choice of the team?

So, I pretty much decided over the weekend that I'm going to go on holiday to Europe next year in April/May after I hand in my PhD thesis.
I'm starting to plan out a rough itinerary, but does anyone want to pimp out their town/region/country as being a totally awesome place to visit? Is there anything I should make sure I don't miss? Is anything particularly pretty (or crappy) at that time of year?
It's possible that I might be in the vicinity of Belgium in the first week of April. I hear there might be some kind of a bike race on there? How would I (as a single female traveller, who has never been to Europe before, never travelled overseas by herself before, doesn't drive, and only has crappy mostly forgotten high school german as a foreign language) manage to see some of that race? It seems as though you can get a train from Gent or Brussels to Geraardsbergen to watch on the Muur? Do they have TV screens and stuff, so you can see the other 5 hours of the race? How easy will it be for me to get back to my hostel with so many people around? Should I stay in Gent? Brussels? Where's the PdC party going to be happening?
Also, does anyone want to meet up in their town/region/country for a drink/meal/whatever? I'm sure that I will be welcome of the company after travelling by myself for a while.
Any tips and suggestions will be gratefully taken on board. And I'm sure I can think of more questions if I try!
The Astana drama continues
Yeah, I know we're probably all sick of it by now, but I thought it was interesting that Kloden, Popovych, Rast and Zubeldia are apparently still under contract with Astana too, although we haven't heard about that as much as the Contador situation.
Might be a problem for The Shack.
