June Is Gut Check Time Pt. 2

Well June was gut check time. The Mets had to play the Pirates, the Nationals, the Phillies, and the Yankees. The record against these teams were 4 wins 8 losses. Bad pitching was the cause of this that might be true. The Mets were swept in Pittsburgh. Blown saves against he Phillies. Getting blown out on Sunday to the Yankees. Bad fielding (dropped pop up on Friday to the Yankees). The only series that the Mets won was against the Nationals. Some gut check, injuries played a part but the Mets didn't preform the way that they should. Jerry Manuel must rally the troops and have them ready. They must stay close to the Phillies so that they can stay in the hunt. The Mets failed the first gut check. Lets hope that when gut check time comes again the Mets will pass it with flying colors.

A Bounce Back Win.

Man what a team. The Mets are driving their fans crazy. After a heartbreaking loss to the Yankees on Friday, the Mets beat up on the Yankees Saturday by the score of 6-2. The Mets had 17 hits. The pitching by Fernando Nieve was great  and the bullpen held the Yankees down again. Jerry Manuel has to get some credit here, because the Mets could of packed this game in and played poorly today. The Mets came out fighting and got a big win. If the Mets win on Sunday with Johan Santana on the mound the loss on Friday night doesn't look so bad. So Met fans take heart the Mets are not done yet. My only question is even with this bounce back win,how many more times this season are he Mets going to drive their fans crazy?

Catch The Damn Ball

The game was won. Who cares about the blown save. Who cares about all the good things that the Mets did to win the game. This game was over,a simple play and all Luis Castillo had to do was CATCH THE DAMN BALL!!. Of course we all saw what happened he dropped the ball.K-Rod had A-Rod looking stupid and he popped up. Two on two outs and one more out to go. A simple play and Luis didn't make it. He acted like Roberto Duran (hands of stone) and dropped the ball. Two runs crossed the plate and the Mets lose to the Yankees 9-7. Tough loss? Yes it was. Can the Mets bounce back? Sure. The Mets had this game. They scored on Mo Rivera and then Luis gave the game to the Yankees. If the Mets do not make the playoffs when the season is over this loss will be remembered by all the Mets fans because all Luis had to do was CATCH THE DAMN BALL.

Looking for the "Big Hit"

Man another one run loss. The Mets lost to the Phillies 5-4. Mike Pelfrey couldn't hold a three run lead. The bullpen couldn't hold a three run lead. The Mets didn't lose the game because of that. They lost the game when they couldn't get the big hit. Bases Loaded and with two outs or less the Mets couldn't get the big hit and break open the game. The Mets will not win if they cannot get the big hit.  Runners in scoring position and less than two out the Mets either strike out or pop up.  With two outs they do not get the base hit to get some runs. The Mets can not beat anybody if they can not get the big hit and score some runs. So hopefully tonight and when the Mets play the Yankees the Mets will get the big hit and win some games.

Livan saves the day.

Mets 7 Nats O.

The Mets were in big trouble. John Maine had a bad day aganist the Nats on Saturday. They needed a shot in the arm after yesterday game a dayoff would come and then the Phillies are here. The Mets needed to win this game and the fifth starter was pitching today. Well after the game was over Mets 7 Nats 0 all was well again. The reason was Livan Hernandez . He pitched shutout ball for seven innings and helped the Mets take the series from the Nats.

The fifth starter usually doesn't do to well but all Livan has done is win. His record is 5-1 and next to Johan Santana he has been great. When the Mets first signed him even I said please not Livan. I didn't know how much he had left in the tank and could he help this team win. Well I must admit not only has he helped the Mets win,he has plenty in the tank. Livan saved the day yesterday and now the Mets can follow this up by beating the Phillies.

So if the Mets win the division and go far in the playoffs Livan Hernandez will be one of the major reasons, so even I must admit That not only did Livan saved the day. He just might help Johan and save the season.

June is gut check time.

June is upon us. School is almost finished for the year, June is also known as 'Gut Check Time In Mets Land.' The Mets have to begin June with three games aganist the Pirates, then three games aganist the Nationals. Before you can say this is easy the Mets have three games aganist the Phillies. Then the Mets have to play the Yankees for three games. Jerry Manuel has to have this team ready to play. We do not have to win every game but we must have a good record to stay in the hunt. The hitting and the pitching has to be good and on point. The fielding must also be on point too.  The Bad News Mets are not needed in the month of June. If the Mets can finish the month of June in good shape then the Mets will have passed Gut Check Time for the month of June.

Johan and the bullpen to the rescue.

Mets 5 Red Soxs 3. Who was the winning pitcher Johan Santana who else. Just when you thought that the Mets were in trouble ( four game losing streak) Johan Santana saves them again.  He is worth all the money that the Mets are paying him.  When the Mets made 3 more errors in the field tonight Johan didn't give in and let the Red Soxs get the big hit.He was the man tonight and all is well in Mets land again. Johan has been great this season and without all the errors and with some more run support , he could of been undefeated.  A big hand for the bullpen Bobby Parnell comes in the eight inning and he throws strikes. No melt down no problem with the Red Soxs trying to rally.  Then you give the ball to Frankie Rodriguez who is lights out in the ninth inning. This bullpen is so much better than last year that  Mets fans feel good when Jerry Manuel has to go to the pen. So when the Mets need a big win look for it to come from Johan Santana with help from the bullpen.

We need a win.

I know some you you will say of course we need a win. The reason that I am saying this is very simple. 1 we can beat the Dodgers eventhough we lost two straight to them. 2 The Phillies are playing the Yankees this weekend and if we are going to keep up with them we have to win. 3 We play Boston this weekend and if we lose we can be out of the race for first place before we know it. Now I know that it is too early to do or die but it could be soon. So we need a win tonight vs the Dodgers or we sweep Boston or take two out of three from them. No matter how the Mets do it. We need a win.

Bad News Mets

This game was too easy to win but the bad news mets found a way to loose it.Angel Paquan and Carlos Beltran not catching a ball. MR. Reed not making a perfect throw to the plate to get a force play. Let's not forget Ryan Church not touching third base.  Come on fellas, the bad news bears would of been proud of you guys. Tim Redding and the bullpen was great and if the mets loose the N.L. east by one game then they will remember this game.  That seven game winning streak seems so long ago. Come on fellas five errors in a game.  You couldn't do that on playstation even if you tried. The mets need to shake off this game and win this series.  The Dodgers are good but not that good. All of the mets fans hope that we will not see the bad news mets ever again.

The money that the Mets are waisting on Oliver Perez could have been used to sign Derek Lowe or Pedro Martinez.  It will be real hard for the Mets to go to the post season with Perez in the bullpen or in the starting rotation.  He can't pitch past two innings and when he does he walks five or six peolple.  The Mets should have known that this would be a problem because no other team was trying to sign Perez.  So we should just sign Pedro and call it a day.  Besides Pedro could never pitch this bad even on his bad day.

The right stuff

The mets are on a seven game winning streak.  This is not hard to believe timely hitting and piching (no help from Oliver Perez.) and we are on our way.  The mets must continue to play gtood baseball.  Beat the teams that we should beat (Pirates) and play to win aganist the Phillies and all the other good teams.  This streak has to end some time but if the Mets continue to play like this the sky is the limit.
