Boise State - Winningest team of the BCS era, third winningest Div. 1 football program of all-time

ESPN Sportsnation is asking the tough questions about the Big East and the possible invite of Boise State. Again, it's time to show some Boise State pride by exercising your constitutional rights to vote.

ESPN SportsNation asks what record is the gold standard for college QBs. Is it the most TD passes, the most yards thrown, or the most wins.

They then go on to ask if Keenum is Heisman-worthy, whether or not he broke the TD mark with class, if Houston should get a BCS bid if they go undefeated, and which of five QBs was the greatest (Keenum, Harrell, Brennan, Detmer or Moore).

Time to show some Boise State pride.

The New York Post is reporting that once the league ups it's exit fees, it will send out an invitation to Boise State. Possibly as soon as this weekend.

As always, speculate away in the comments section below.

Martin Manley still doesn't like Boise State, and continues to postulate why using their recruiting, of all things. I must say, I've never seen anyone insult Boise State's recruiting, and you're all going to love this one.

Speechless...I think this is the first credible news source to not be all over BYU's kool-aid.

Very nice FoxSports article about Kellen Moore and Brent Pease on the upcoming season.

Major highlight: During the past year, Moore says, he has become more efficient watching video and now gets "10 times more out of it" than he used to.

What I got from that: Georgia doesn't stand a chance

Jared Zabransky is teaching Houston-area youths how be just like him. No, not how to seat people at P.F. Chang's, but rather how to be a successful quarterback.

Somehow his ranking for Boise State was based off a key returning position player by the name of Jeron Johnson. Would someone like to break the news to him?

One Bronco Nation Under God Fiesta Bowl Tickets?

I ordered my tickets last Tuesday through the IdahoTickets.com website.  Four game tickets, four tailgate tickets and one parking pass.  As of last night, they still had not arrived in the mail (via FedEx).  I heard they didn't start shipping tickets until this Monday, so maybe I am jumping the gun a little here.  Has anyone living outside of the Boise area received theirs tickets yet?  Does anyone have any inside information on the situation?

One Bronco Nation Under God OBNUG BlackBerry Users

I am wondering if any of you OBNUGers out there are crackberry addicts.  If so, let's all get together on BlackBerry Messenger.  I started a group on BBM that will allow us to all talk to each other, share photos, calendars, etc.  Think of it as a way to enhance our OBNUG experience.  Send me an add request and let's see how many people we can get envolved.  It never hurts to expand your social networking reach, as evident by the few of us who also Tweet (p.s. Those of you who don't tweet are missing out on some funny conversations on gameday).

One Bronco Nation Under God I win!

Not sure how many of you twitter, due to the absolutely low turnout for the official tweet post, but the Blue and Orange Store has a weekly contest using twitter where they ask their followers to submit their guess the score for the game that week.  For the Oregon game, I somehow beat everyone out with a guess of BSU 34, UO 16.  The same guess I listed on the OBNUG thread.  Everyone must have thought it was going to be an offensive slobber-knocker.

Anyways, still waiting to hear back from the Blue and Orange Store about how to use my $50 gift certificate since I don't live in Boise or even the state of Idaho.

Moral of the story:  It pays to twitter!

One Bronco Nation Under God Sincere Thank You to Oregon

I had it in my mind to post this whether or not Boise State won or lost.  For the greater part of a year we have all been looking forward to this game, which is monumental for Boise State's program.  Before, a game like this would have only roused the Boise State fans, but this time it was different.  I really feel Oregon was more invested in this game than Boise State was.  Does this mean people are finally starting to take Boise State seriously?  I truly hope so.

To all the Oregon fans who came in on the boards and shared the past few months with us, you all helped make the off-season so much more enjoyable.  We are all passionate about our teams, but I believe we have been mutually respectful and admirable of each other's programs.  I really hope you guys continue to come in and interject some reality into us once and awhile.  We tend to get inflated egos once the WAC shedule is in full swing.

After now considering myself an honorary, secondary Duck fan, I am wishing your team a successul season from here on out.  I do hope we all get to meet again soon.

One Bronco Nation Under God The Blue is Still Second to None

What started as a gimmick in 1986 is now the single most recognizable symbol of the Boise St. Broncos The Blue, it's signature blue turf field at Bronco Stadium, is now in it's 23rd year.  As the body count of opposing teams continues to rise, so do the myths surrounding it.

But lately, other programs from across the country have tried to cash in on some of Boise State's success.  Or to be more exact, The Blue's success.  Not only is there a blue field for a high school team in Alaska, Texas, and New Mexico (thank you Brian Urlacher, you went to a MWC school not Boise State, you hack), there is also a new college football team in Connecticut with one.

What really irks me is that none of these teams can come up with a new color?  Why not be the first to have yellow turf, or red turf, or brown turf, or purple turf, or black turf.  Why isn't Boise State's team of lawyers all over these people?  Fred Meyer wasn't as blatant a rip-off as these places are.

What do you guys think?  Is it sheer flattery or blatant rip off?

One Bronco Nation Under God Official Tweet Post

Alright, I thought we might need this page so we can see what everyone's twitter usernames are.  Also, if the "real" Kellen Moore stops by, I'm hoping for an add.  Also, if the BSU Cheerleading Squad is out there, I'm your biggest fans.  But I'm getting off track.  Excuse me.  Where was I at?  Oh yeah...So I will start everyone off with mine, and feel free to add yours in the comments below.

One Bronco Nation Under God Colt Brennan and a Pop Star?

It has been brought to my attention by an astute colleague of mine (Arizona Wildcat fan) that Jessica Simpson is now romantically linked to some back-up quarterback by the name of Colt Brennan.  The story is out there.  I could provide a link but you're a big boy and you can go google it for yourself.  I'm not your grandmother.

Seems Ms. Simpson has an affinity for overrated quarterbacks.  Which has me wondering, should things not ultimately work out between the new couple, which overrated quarterback will she victimize next?  With out further ado, I bring you the official OBNUG Poll to help answer this burning question.

One Bronco Nation Under God All-WAC Team of the Decade

Someone decided it was necessary to look back at the WAC this decade and pick an all-time team.  Seeing as how any rational human being would understand that Boise State has won six WAC titles this decade, the all-time team would be littered with great Broncos.  Whoa, horsey!  Not so fast.  It seems the Hawai'i Warriors were the best team of the decade looking at this list.  A few things I can't fault them for is their selection of Defensive Player of the Decade.  I wont spoil it, I will just let you be pleasantly surprised.

One Bronco Nation Under God Kaepernick to Have Competition?

Utah QB Louks to Transfer to Nevada

Utah Utes QB/S Corbin Louks has been unseated by a true freshman.  Instead of taking Utah's advice of switching to safety, Louks now feels it is in his best interest to keep pursuing a job as a quaterback and plans to transfer to the Nevada Wolf Pack.  He will sit out this year, and have two years of eligibility left starting in 2010.  Only problem?  Colin Kaepernick looks to own the job until 2011.  Will Kaepernick finally go in the MLB draft next year, the NFL draft, or return for his Senior year?

Poll
Will Kaepernick return for his Senior year?
Yes, Louks should have converted to safety for Utah

No, Louks might actually have a shot at starting

One Bronco Nation Under God TeamBuilder Update : POS!

As usual, the techies at EASports rolled out a feature that looked and sounded great, but ended up being filled with a whole lot of bugs and unable to perform (kind of like Fresno State).

Since my "XBOX360 Persona" contains a space in it (Richard Oliver) you can not currently find either of my teams for download.  When will EA fix this problem?  I'm not holding my breath.  Can I create a new "XBOX360 Persona"?  Sure I could.  Can I import my teams over to this new persona?  No, and I don't plan on spending another 3 days redoing all the work.

I will try to keep you all updated as to when EA plans to fix this bug.  Sorry for the let down.

One Bronco Nation Under God NCAA Football 10 Teambuilder : CEXEKO Style

This year's entry in the EA Sports line of college football is NCAA Football 10.  New to the game this year is the Teambuilder online site that allows you to download user created teams for play on NCAA Football 10.  If you are looking for a nice download when you get the game tomorrow just look for the Perfect Season icon in the Boise, ID section.  Below is more info:

I decided to waste as much of my time as possible into putting this website to work on recreating the 2006 Boise State Broncos, and boy did I waste a lot of time.  I recreated the uniforms to the fullest extent that the website would allow (more on that later).  I added in all the players full names (set number of players, so of course some were left out).  I even tweeked all the players to match their actual physical attributes (sorry, no African-American Richie Brockel).  I even tweeked a little further to have the player's abilities be more accurate (we all know Zabransky should be at least a 97, and sorry, Kevan, but Tadman is a 90)  Below are some screen caps for your viewing displeasure:

06bsu01_medium

As you can see, even though Hamdan is #1 in our hearts, he is listed third on my depth chart.  I also added in a few redshirt freshmen that I found listed on the Fiesta Bowl program as current roster players.  These include Acrey, Avery, and Winterswyk to name a few.  If anything, it gives you a few guys to redshirt when you start your season.

06bsu02_medium

A few things to note here.  First, the website does not allow for me to add in the WAC and Nike symbols on the front of the jersey.  Second, it also does not allow to put the Boise State moniker on the chest.  Third, nor does it allow the use of shadow on the jersey numbers.  Forth, nor does it allow me to put in the butt stripes.  Oh, no wait, that option was there.  This is about as authentic as I can currently make these unis.  Below is the fun mix and match I created.

If you guys see any inaccuracies, please point them out and I will fix them.  You can preview my work online at teambuilder.easports.com

One Bronco Nation Under God ZOMG! Kevan....

Have you ever sent Graham Watson an e-mail asking her for an interview for the website?  I think this would be a great idea.  Wait...does that mean I just volunteered?  Damn it!  But in all seriousness, perhaps we could ask the real hard-hitting questions, such as"

Why does she hate Boise State so much?

Why does she love Fresno State/Utah/ECU/TCU so much?

How long as her head been stuck up Gary Patterson's ass?

What is her quota for WAC teams she has to say will beat Boise State on a yearly basis?

What does everyone else think? (this question is not meant for Graham Watson, duh)

One Bronco Nation Under God OK, Who missed me?

I AM BACK!

I had a huge diatribe all written up where I blame the OBNUG staff for adding to my abandonment issues, leading me to a hard 4 months of crack and cheap women topped off with visit to the ER after a bad experience with erotic autoasphixiation.  But after a few sessions with my therapist I am now ready to welcome you all back with open arms.

A few hard-hitting questions that Kevan has yet to answer since his return to the blogosphere are:

#1.  What was the buy-out that Edmonton had to pay to get Z released from his P.F. Chang's contract?

#2.  When shouting "BACON" at the stadium this year, is it more acceptable to say it like that dog on the Beggin' Strips commercial, like the Yankees fans used to say "REG-GIE", or that good old stadium standby, "Let's go, Bacon. (clap, clap, clap-clap-clap)"?

#3.   Will Dairy Queen win the naming rights to Bronco Stadium?  Will it be called the Blue Raspberry Mister Misty Stadium?

I'm totally down to travel to the away games this year, so if someone secures me a ticket and doesn't mind picking me up from the airport, and hosting me for the night, I will gladly pay for my ticket and yours (please keep in mind we are in a recession and I'm not that rich).  I'm also down for continuing some Game Day havoc, and even I'll suply the Everclear to help ease the pain of the beatings we are more than likely going to be receiving.

As always, you will find me on the ESPN boards making Graham Watson's life a living hell.  Also, Kevan made sure he found another website that my place of business does not allow us to use the comment feature on.  So, if I still feel like commenting after I get off work, I might (during baseball season though, forget it).
