Kerry Wood is available....

Better option then street possibly (both have their injury issues incase you bring that up).

Woods:

IP: 66.1
Wins: 5
Saves: 34 of 40
Strikes: 84
ERA: 3.26
WHIP: 1.09

Street:

IP: 70.0
Wins: 7
Saves: 18 of 25
Strikes: 69
ERA: 3.73
WHIP: 1.21

What will he cost.  How does he stack up against some of the other options avaiable?  Am i jsust rambling on to make the 75 word limit?  Wow, not there yet....but  i think i am now :P

Apparently Colorado is in buy mode now.

via mlbtr:

In the wake of five straight wins, and nine wins in 10 games since the All-Star break, Rockies general manager Dan O'Dowd characterized a trade for either star outfielder Matt Holliday or closer Brian Fuentes as "highly unlikely'' in an interview Sunday with SI.com.

In fact, O'Dowd said, "I would say we're more a buyer than a seller'' right now. The only way he could see selling at the moment would be if "the selling left me with just as competitive a club as we have now.''

cliffs: won 9 of 10 and now they're buyers.

Manny being Manny....to the Rays?

http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2008/07/might-sox-try-t.html

Guess manny did something and was diciplined and, to fight back, took himself out of the lineup.  No way the Sox trade him to us directly, but i wonder if we could swing a trade for him to the team he gets traded?  He'd be great for a 2 month rental, especially if the Sox eat his money to trade him.  And especially because i feel there would be no way he'd sit out the 9 or so games we have left in the Red Sox series.

Thoughts?  It would never happen, but never say never.  Although that will give us 2 corner outfielders that just act like they don't care for the most part ;).

Rays get 2 Fox Saturday Games in August

23rd and 30th. (White sox and Orioles). - it's at the bottom of the article.

http://www2.tbo.com/content/2008/jul/26/sp-maddon-chances-for-deal-50-50/?sports

posting the revelent paragraph here since it must be 75 chars ;)

NATIONAL EXPOSURE: Fox announced Friday it has picked up the Rays-Orioles game from Tropicana Field on Aug. 30 for its national telecast. The game time will move up from 7:10 p.m. to 3:55 p.m. to accommodate the change. Fox had previously picked up the Rays' Aug. 23 game at the White Sox.

Those two Fox appearances in eight days will equal Tampa Bay's exposure on the network in the franchise's first 10 seasons.

Any interest in Milton Bradley?

I hope I'm posting in the right area, I apoligize in advance if i don't :D.

There's been a lot of talk about Nady, McClouth, Holliday.  I do remember reading that the Rangers might be shopping Bradley as well.  He's someone we could plug into the field/DH if need be, and would be a big upgrade over Floyd AND Gross.  I realize his Slug is a bit high due to playing at  rangers stadium, but his OBP remains fairly constant.  His OBP is .481 home and .404 away.  Gross tops out at about .360 at home and floyd is about .380 at home.  What would it take to get him?  Sonny? EJax? A major league ready minorleaguer (due to how crappy thier pitching is).

(Avg, OBP, Slug, OPS)

Milton Bradley
vs. Left   .333 .473 .713 1.186
vs. Right  .308 .423 .560 0.983

Gabe Gross
vs. Left   .148 .207 .333 0.540
vs. Right  .236 .351 .408 0.759

Cliff Floyd
vs. Left   .167 .286 .333 .619
vs. Right  .270 .356 .452 .808

Neither floyd or Gross can hit left handed pitching, and Bradley hits Left better then right, and he's a switch hitter.  He's injury prone, but the rangers have kept him out of the outfield for the most part and it's seemed to work out well.  He's young and probably someone we could lock up for 3-4 years.
