In high school I went through a few coaching circuits myself! But NO coach in 12 years was like coach Zach bronson (NFL safety for San Fran). He's 38 now and was recently out of the NFL. He was still fairly new to coaching when he came to Westside, and I was going into my Jr year. Bronson is the reason why I am so hardworking today. Having NFL experience and him teaching from his experiences, really made me want to raise my level of intensity. I went to practice early always, and watched film for at least 15 hours every week (in high school yes)!

***but I have a point to this story***

coach bronson saw things in me that helped me grow as a person and an athlete. I had a bad attitude, and had character issues that made me a very unlikeable guy. I was an even worst leader. When we went through some losing at times at Westside I would pout and walk around with my head down etc.. One day, Coach Bronson pulled me to the side and told me that he had lost his son awhile back when they were outside playing catch. He had never told anyone this story as far as the athletes! The ball hit his son in the chest and he collapsed. (I think he had a tumor; he was 13). I was at a lost for words! ( I lost my dad awhile back as well) Funny thing is, coach was the happiest person i had ever met! geesh the guy was like hyped up on coffee all the time! every single day he was the first person at practice, running around, and yelling old school rab lyrics that non of us knew. (everyone LOVED him)!!!

I would have never known he had lost his son, especially in that way. For him to always walk around so happy and enjoying life - that not only changed my attitude, but it reminded me to enjoy life, this game of football and WHATEVER God has in store for me.

Yes kliff and this staff will be young, but they all have NFL experience. Not too long ago, a few of these guys were on NFL rosters. They will be able to connect with these guys on an entirely different level. They will be able to inspire, encourage, and get the best of these guys. This just wont be a job to them (like tubs). They will give their heart for this program, this school, and for West Texas !

i was talking to Pete Robinson, and Tyson Williams this week about the game planning and the scheme of things this week. i wont post their schemes or anything like that because that was said to me with trust. i will say that as a TRUE STUDENT OF THE GAME, i like the idea of what they are trying to do today against OU. they are confident on defense about being able to confuse Jones and are confident they can shut down this struggling offense. Pete (to me) has always been a quiet person, but talking to him friday gave me a new perspective. he was beyond hype for this game. one thing that caught my attention was how much he PRAISED COACH KAUFMAN AND PRUNTY for their work they do at practice. he said they continue to push these guys at practice every single day beyond the normal measure. By, far, coach kaufman may be the best thing that has happened to Texas Tech (imo) but i dont know as much as some of you. tyson, as always, was very leveled headed. though he is big trash talker on the field, in person, he is really laid back. he is ready for this game and feels very confident about the offense. they have to go out there and make consistent plays in my opinion (wr's) NO DROP BALLS THIS WEEK! we even talked about stepping up his game as well. i want to see him go pro, but more importantly i think he could be a better addition to the offense if he finds better ways to get open. they continue to have faith in Doege (i still do too). he will perform because he knows better than anyone what this win will do for lubbock and inside that locker room.

anyway! i pray these guys go out there and do what they have to do. my little brother will be in lubbock this week and it would be nice to show him how its done out here in lubbock (he is 2 by the way lol)

hey guys,

I did not make the team this fall season. I will try out for the spring, and give it one more try. If have any questions email me at courtney.harris96@yahoo.com. I would go into detail, but honestly anything that I say in this post will only come off as bitter. I am not bitter, I am still very optimistic. At this current time, I was told that they are not really looking for db's. I believe i did do a lot of things right during try outs. All I will say is my performance was not the reason I did not make the team. I could have ran faster, but I will work on that. Other than that, I was very proud to see all my training this summer really pay off.

This is all I can say for now. I love you guys, thanks for the support, and just know I WILL NOT GIVE UP ON MY DREAMS.
