The NBA doesn't work in Sacramento
LoL. Pretty hilarious stuff there.
At least Anaheim is starting to realize how awesome having the Maloofs would be.
Ailene Voisin: Three scenarios for arena, Kings
"The exit strategy consists of two, possibly three, paths: the high road (Maloofs sell the team to a local interest); the toll road (the NBA owners pressure the Maloofs to sell their mismanaged franchise under the "best interest of the league" clause in the league by-laws); or the most unpredictable, but not implausible, road, with powerhouse Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG) dipping into its considerable earnings, picking up the $67 million tab for the sake of its civic duty, and saving the day."
AV putting some more hurt on the Maloofs.

Quick Core Poll
As you know, there has been a lot of discussion involving, what we should do regarding, FA, Trades, and our draft pick.
Just wanted to get a quick consensus on what STR thinks regarding the below scenario.
If one of the below players(or other I may not have specified)
Rudy Gay, Danny Granger, Andre Iguodala, Gerald Wallace, Manu Ginobli, Luol Deng.
Russell Westbrook, Chris Paul, Rajon Rondo, Deron Williams, Eric Gordon, Steph Curry, Monta Ellis, Kevin Martin, Ray Allen, Tony Parker .
Dwight Howard, Pau Gasol, LeMarcus Aldridge, Zach Randolph, Al Horford, Kevin Love, Andrew Bogut, Nene, Andrew Bynum, Tyson Chandler, Joakim Noah, Marc Gasol, Al Jefferson, Chris Bosh, Luis Scola, Andrea Bargnani.
were to become available in a trade to the Kings, but we had to include 1 of Tyreke, Demarcus, or Marcus.
Don't celebrate too much Kings Fans
Randy's Pisssed.
"It was only a few days ago that George Maloof defiantly declared, "We're going to Anaheim!" during a conference call with the NBA relocation committee. Yes, Stern was on the line, too."

Kings's decision on relocation filing due Monday
Our friend Randy weighs in
I feel bad for Seattle fans. They deserve an NBA team. So does Sacramento. This video made me not feel so bad for Seattle fans. Especially around the 2:11 mark.
HereWeStay video blog by Carmichael Dave.
My thoughts and feelings tend to make me think, that the Kings will have one more year in Sacramento. It'll be our last chance to get an arena built. Most of us know this to be the case already. I hope we can all do everything we can, to get involved.

Pie-in-the-sky on menu in Sacramento
Anyone else starting to hate the OC Register?
More on Webber Van Dusen plan from the Bee.
Though Webber refused to be specific on-air about the extent of his commitment, after making a few late-night phone calls, I reached original Sacramento Kings executive vice-president Greg Van Dusen, who offered a few specifics. According to Van Dusen, Webber is willing to facilitate a deal - headed by Roger Stewart of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, to "restructure" the city's $77 million loan to the club. Van Dusen, who is working with Arco I and II architect Rann Haight.
"We've been working on this for about three months," said Van Dusen. "The idea is to relieve some of the financial pressure on the Maloofs and the ownership group. Roger had a very positive conversation today (Tuesday) with Chris, who isn't only interested in helping, he wants to lead the effort to keep the Kings here. He loves Sacramento and thinks this is where the Kings belong."

Kings move would hurt Lakers' TV deal?
"Although finances of the deal were not released, some reports at the time pegged the value of the pact at $3 billion, a figure Time Warner Cable and the Lakers have since refuted.
If a third NBA team moves into the market, however, the Lakers' television deal will decrease by about just under 10 percent, according to sources.
The Lakers' best hope of reclaiming lost revenue is citing their potentially diminished television contract to elicit a hefty relocation fee from the Kings. Relocation fees in the NBA are "discretionary" and established by the league's board of governors."

Sacramento arena study moving forward, despite Kings news
I asked Mayor Kevin Johnson's office whether they had heard the work was being put on hold, and the response was the same. "Absoluely not," said mayoral special assistant R.E. Graswich.
"We have talked with the city and made it clear we will present a plan on how to get a new arena built regardless of the decision the Kings make," Mendelsohn said. "If the Kings decide to relocate, we will present an arena without the Kings. If they decide to stay, we will present a plan that includes the Kings as tenants."
"We are committed to creating a plan that clearly lays out a plan to build an arena in Sacramento. That will happen regardless of what decision the Kings make. We believe like the mayor and the rest of the city that there should be a new arena no matter what."

"Reports swirled this weekend about Kings officials getting more serious about leaving Sacramento because their team currently plays there in a Holiday Inn parking lot. That's just a joke. We've been inside Arco Arena. It's really not that bad. More like a Hyatt parking lot."
From the OC Register. The worst part about this, is how he constantly refers to the Kings as "our Kings"
"The Shot"
I know we've seen it hundreds of times, but I know some were requesting the call from G-Man, Gary Gerould. Enjoy.

Perception vs Reality, Nov-Dec Stats
I don't do fan posts often, but I thought it would be fun to throw some November-December stats together. I have excluded October because there were only 3 games played(Small sample size institute approved this).
Sometimes our perception of watching the games, can be deceiving. I find it's good to have a look at the figures to see if perception matches reality. Grab a coffee and lets take a look.
Games played. Here's where we're at. Stats inclusive of DNP's and Injuries.
Mins per game
Looks like we're passing the rock more(ever so slightly).
Shooting from the field.
Shooting the Long Ball..
Free Throws
Rebounds
Blocks. So much for interior defense.
Turnovers- Yikes!
Fouls
Steals
Points - Looks like we're putting more points on the board.
My vote for most improved player from Nov to Dec is, Jason Carlton Thompson. His stats, shown below. He has shown a major increase since he was moved into the starting lineup. Lets hope he gets back to action soon. (sorry blob)
As per request, Mins differential followed by per 36 stats.
All stats supplied from www.basketball-reference.com.

Tyreke to make trip to Houston
After reading this article from Jason Jones regarding Reke, are things what they seem?
From Geoff Petrie
"His diagnosis is still a minor case of plantar fasciitis, He's closer to not having it at all than having it."
And from Paul Westphal
There is concern about the foot and the team needed to get Evans "playing like he can play or do something else"
And looking back at the tweet from Team Reke
"Just got done having a talk wit my brother @thetyrekeevans. It's done! He's out for a while."
Are we trading Reke? Is Philly a possible destination? Would it be dumb to trade Tyreke in his second season?
I'm likely completely wrong, but does feel strange. Maybe there's something else wrong with Reke and all will be told soon. (nothing to do with Dec 15)
Regarding the Kings lackluster starts.
"You have to play with 48 minutes of intensity. I think that maybe we're a little afraid of fouling, maybe we're easing into the flow of the game, whatever it is. Maybe it just takes us a while to figure out or believe the scouting report that says certain guys like to do certain things or have tendencies."
Paul Westphal.
And then this, from Jason Jones
"But if Westphal mentions players not "believing" the scouting report again, it wouldn't be unfair to assume some Kings aren't taking their study time seriously."
Word of mouth here, but I heard the Kings are going to have an open practice on the 3rd of Oct, open to public, and there's some season ticket holder events, that will be using the 'old' court. I guess they don't want to use the reg. season court until after the pre-season
Get up there Reke
Nice one handed throw down by Tyreke. Hopefully the LuK has increased his vertical this summer, for even more hang time.

Orlando @ Boston Game 3 Playoff thread 05-22-10
Orlando Magic's title hopes on line as they look to avoid falling 0-3 against Boston Celtics
Magic try to save season tonight in Game 3
BOSTON --- Never in franchise history has so much been put into a season, a team, a theme.
All the Orlando Magic's machinations last summer marked the culmination of a building process that was simply labeled, CHAMPIONSHIP OR BUST.
But now, the players who felt it was their time to win hear the tick-tock, tick-tock growing louder.
"Time is running out," small forward Matt Barnes said.
The Magic are closer to going bust, heading into tonight's Game 3 down 0-2 to the Boston Celtics at TD Banknorth Garden.
It might as well be Game 7. No team in NBA history has ever crawled out of an 0-3 hole to advance.
The Magic were on such a roll about a week ago that another title shot seemed imminent. Now they are playing to save their season.
"Most definitely," power forward Rashard Lewis said. "This is a must-win game. The pressure is on us already. If we go down zero-3, I mean how tough would that be? We're not giving up. We feel like we can still win the series.
"We have to make a stand now."
That's what it's quickly come to for a team that couldn't wait for the playoffs to start.
Driven by their surprising venture into the NBA Finals last season, the Magic went for broke.
Last summer management added five new players, the group headlined by eight-time all-star Vince Carter, and spent money to keep back-up center Marcin Gortat. The Magic veered into the punitive luxury tax for the first time. They talked of sacrifice and their desire to win a title for owner Rich DeVos, 83.
"I've never seen this kind of conviction," DeVos said.
The Magic not only won 59 games again, but coach Stan Van Gundy refused to rest his starters and give away games late in the season. The decision ultimately left Orlando with home-court advantage if they returned to the title round.
Back-to-back playoff sweeps fanned the flame.. . .until Boston began extinguishing hope and threatening a dream hatched ever since Dwight Howard arrived.
A not-so-funny thing happened to the Magic on the way to a second consecutive Finals appearance: The 2008 championship Celtics have materialized.
They didn't step out of an Iowa cornfield or magically appear through some heaven-sent cigar smoke from the late Red Auerbach.
The tough old birds got their legs back, along with finding life in other assorted appendages. They stole home-court from the Magic, jolting them in Game 1 and winning Game 2 thanks to the play of a kid whose name sounds like a hero from an action movie:Rajon Rondo.
And now a Magic team that easily was racking up victories never needed one more.
They will have to start their long-shot comeback process on the road. They won in Beantown last season with their season in jeopardy, winning a Game 7 in the semi-finals.
"We can use that experience. We've won there," point guardJameer Nelson said.
How to do it?
Boston played like it was the home team in Orlando, coming out strong each game and forcing the Magic to mount rallies. Now the Celtics have a crowd behind them. "We have to hit them first," Barnes said.
The Magic must address what's ailed them.
Van Gundy's checklist:
Wrestle that broom from Paul Pierce. Van Gundy mentioned having to gamble and double-team him (likely late in the game).
Keep the Celtics' defense on the move with better passing and playmaking. Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen might be future Hall of Famers, but the aging trio could also be inducted into the Smithsonian.
Stop reading the backs of the Celtics' jerseys. Get back on defense, especially when Rondo grabs a rebound.
The Magic realize that if they go bust the season will be a failure.
"Absolutely," Barnes said. "This team went to the Finals last year and lost. To bring all the new pieces in and all the talk about winning a title, making it to the Finals….It's definitely a failure."
Preview provided by Brian Schmitz's from the OrlandoSentinel
Joe Maloof Interview
"Ryen Russillo recaps the Celtics' Game 1 win and discusses the latest coaching rumors. Plus, Kings co-owner Joe Maloof explains how excited he is for the draft lottery and his young team."
Kinda interesting to hear him say that we're going after the top names in FA
05-11-2010 Boston Vs Cleveland
Game 5 in Cleveland
Im excited because the game is gonna be on free tv for me in Australia, dont get to watch High Def Nba that often.
Will Rondo have the same impact on the game that he had in game 4, or will LeBron gaurd him and shut him down. Should be fun folks.
This is the only 2nd round series that has gone to a game 5.

Two games today
Cleveland @ Boston 7pm EST series 1-1 Tied
via http://docfunk.blogspot.com/
Phoenix @ San Antonio 930pm EST series 2-0 PHX
via http://docfunk.blogspot.com/
Should be an exciting day of hoops today with the most entertaining series playing today.
Can Cleveland win one on the road and regain home court advantage, or does Boston go up 2-1.
Is this the year the Zunz finally get over the wall, that has been San Antonio for them this decade.
Go Boston or Cleveland (I don't care who wins).
Go Phoenix.
And if your here before the games starts and have some time to burn, see if you can name the highest drinking countries per capita. (Geez my country is bad)
