A Harris poll has the Rangers as the 8th favorite team in America. Pretty impressive IMO. We're just behind the Phillies but ahead of St Louis and Detroit. It seems funny that the Giants dropped 7 spots after the WS win and we are up 4.

Angels are 20th.

Interesting read.

Even down here in Austin, the Texas Stars coverage is not what it should be. So I get a little excited when I see something. Thought I would share it with our Dallas brethren.

I had to link to this from our sister blog Defending Big D. Any chance of working out a deal with the Liverpool group to join the ranks or start our own?

Any interest for a former 56 goal scorer?

If we picked him up, what would we owe him? Prorated $3M? Plus $3M next year? Is that right? Still trying to learn the NHL salary structure.

Defending Big D Turco's pads

I became a hockey fan when the Stars moved to Texas, but I have never played the game so I am still trying to learn all the nuances.  But there is something I have noticed and wanted to get more experienced people's opinions and facts about it.

It appears to me that Turco's pads seem to be smaller than most other goalies.  I don't know if this is an illusion or not, but it seems like his pads tend to be more rounded around the edges.  Other goalies like Auld (plus many others I have seen), have these big block style pads.  When those goalies butterfly the pads lay square on their sides and cover most of the bottom of the net, but when Turco goes down it seems like he goes into a V shape with his legs angled back behind him insead of sticking out to the sides to cover more of the net.  Is Turco just not as flexible?

I don't want this to turn into Turco bashing, I am just wondering if I am seeing things or is this just a different "technique" he plays versus other goalies.

Defending Big D Time for Fistric to get his due?

At what point do we move Fistric up on the top D-line?  He is the only Stars player that seems to be even or + every night, and he continues to play a much needed physical game.  He has really stepped up his game this year and is proving that he should be getting more than 16min a night, IMO.    And any D-man that beats someone over the head with a helmet (completely unintentional if the NHL brass is reading this, I might add) gets brownie points from me!

I say move him up now and let him ply his wares against some of the top lines.  We can't get any worse at this point.  Robidas looks beaten down to me, and Skrastins can block shots all day but seems to be really struggling in the other aspects of his game.

This is my first fanpost so bear with me.  I've added a poll below to get the general consensus.

Didn't see anywhere this had been posted yet, but Harris Interactive released their yearly poll asking about America's favorite baseball teams. Rangers came in tied for 15th, which was better than I would have thought. LAAAAA Angels came in 2nd to last....hahaha! 2% of those polled think the Rangers will win the World Series...awesome!

Lone Star Ball HGH actual hurts athletic performance?

http://tinyurl.com/yoekos

I know we are all tired of steroid talk, but this was the first article I've seen that seems to suggest that HGH actual hurts athletic performance.

The studies are very shallow and don't really mean a whole lot right now, but it's something to keep an eye on.  Could you imagine the craziness if further studies actually prove this to be true!?
