Arrowhead Pride Starters vs the rest

Seems to be alot of mixed feelings on who should start on both sides of the ball. Of course everyone wants to start, but there is no selfishness in championship teams. As long as a player can contribute to the team when his number is called is all that matters.

Jones vs Charles. Im glad that we are done talking about this one. We all know from the little tiny bit of taste we have gotten in preseason that this don't matter. Jones works the tough yards then Charles comes in as a change of pace guy and (blows everyones socks off!!!!!!) IMO. We all know Charles makes something outa nothing and he is going to be running even harder this year with not taking all those hard yardage carries. Then Battle takes a few and Mcluster chimes in. Im really excited for those four guys.

Next, linebacker this and linebacker that. DW impressed me in the preseason. Obviously this guy can play all four spots if needed to (except for Vrabel and Andy cause thats already a safe spot) . Look at the game he was in for Tamba. Not bad for working mostly in the middle. DW will play and make plays. Vrabel will sub in and out with Andy and everyone can agree thats ok cause the guy deserves to be on the field.

DJ and Belcher will both play cause they have shown improvements. DJ probably the best for pass coverage then Belcher is a more of a run stopper. Don't be suprised when Berry steal some tackles from these two though.

Corey Mays. Good job for sacking Favre in last years preseason because I haven't really seen you since then. But I will give you some O.K credits filling the gaps.

Just because starters start and others don't, its not the end of the world. Its OK, really its OK. Having guys come in certain situations and rotate in and out only keeps our players fresh and gains knowledge of the game. Would we want 22 players only playing the game? Getting beat up and not giving all they got all game long? While others dont even reach the field until the game is out of reach? No, 45 guys on that side line. They need to contribute in some way. Lets make Rivers walk off the field Monday night like the way Ryan Leaf did back in the day. For all you that will be there I want to hear the ESPN guys say " this stadium is going nuts" at least 50 times. Plus I really want to hear the "we're going to beat the hell outa you" chant from the broadcast as well.

Scott has got his first draft pick already chosen

After being the worst run defense there is only one thing on Scott's mind. Suh. I know, I know what your saying. Another line guy. But this dude is one of a life time. Our D-line will one day be the best ever if we get him. This guy may not get alot of sacks in the NFL but he can single handedly shut down the run. We will probably have to trade up to get him but who knows where we will be in the draft. Suh is a first overall pick, easy.
Lions, Rams, Bucs. All defensive head coaches that will likely not pass on Suh if they are in front of us.

But our inside linebackers are to blame also. I been watching alot how they are filling gaps. Mays is alway over running the play and letting the running backs take a one step in direction and gone. Williams' name was called the most Sunday when I was at the game and if I am not mistaken is our leading tackler. He can get better with time.

But all in all Suh can help this defense in the heart and soul of it and we need smart inside linebackers that dont over persue the play and there we go boys, run defense can make strides.

Oh and P.S
we need some wide outs that can catch the damn ball.
Honorable mention?
Brad Cottam, mostly the Browns game.
Chris Chambers
Improvement of O-line, not great but improved.
Charles of course.

Out of left field?
Why Bobby Wade wasn't cut instead of Mark Bradley.
At least he caught the game tieing catch and Bobby couldnt catch a wide open pass for a touchdown.

Coming to K.C to support the Chiefs

I am a long lived Chiefs fan from north east Nebraska. The last time I made it to a Chiefs game is when we blew out the 49rs 41-0 at arrowhead. Every game I have been to since 2000 we have not lossed. I finally said enough is enough and I need to make the trip to root for this team thats in great need to finish out the season strong. I already got my bag packed just waiting to see the daylight of Saturday morning to make the drive. But one thing I can say is Ill be in arrowhead parking lot early sunday morning, Alcohol fuled, ready to scream my head off during the game so much to where I wont be able to speak at all for the 4 hour drive back home. Hope to visit and drink some beer with loyal Chiefs fans there. Go Chiefs.

Arrowhead Pride Enough of Larry, new start.

We need to seriously let the whole Larry Johnson thing work itself out and look at our new possibilities. I am one that said a couple weeks ago we need to run three running backs a game. If you noticed, Larry carries most of the time, then maybe Charles two or three times and Savage once and Battle once.

Take Larry out of the equation totally. Lets start Charles. Even Haley says he is getting it so he deserves it. He was saying at the beginning of the year he wanted the job. Smith may be healthy to go now. Split him and Charles running the ball (which I believe will be a great combo). Plus Charles is getting more yards per gain than Larry but of course not as many touches. I think these two backs would be a good change of pace of the game.

Savage needs more carries than one or two a game. This guy looked great in preseason. He had the play of the game against St. Lewis. They couldn't bring the guy down. He would be great in short yardage.

All in all we give the rock to Charles and Smith and try to get it outside once in a while, then run Savage right at them at least 5 times per game starting out. I feel that the rest of the season could go out on a positive note if we get three of these backs going. They all are chomping at the bit to take over for Larry so lets let them all try out for the job for the rest of the season.

WHO IS WITH ME!!!!!

NFL Total Access

tonight says yes to being asked if Larry Johnson is done in Kansas City. I would not blame the Chiefs for cutting ways. It would be nice to see Charles, Smith, and Savage run the ball while Larry is watching from home. What happens?

Do we part ways with Larry?

Do we suspend him then welcome him back?

Do we suspend him then deactivate him for trade next year?

Thoughts on the game today.....

For one....I think Vermeil must have gave Haley a couple rushing plays from back when he was coach of the chiefs. There were a couple runs designed to go OUTSIDE that Larry got into space and looked good. From one of my last posts I was saying run to the outside and finally they did a little and showed that Larry can break into that second level where he is more dangerous.

Two.....Cassel did finally throw one, yes ONE, ball away when he needed to on the final drive. Bout time. Alot of his sacks today he could have just thrown it away instead of bobbing and weaving defenders behind the line of scrimage. So his decision making and getting the ball thrown away still needs ALOT of work IMO.

Three.... How bout Bowe after he caught the ball today. That guy's motor was running today. But there were way to many dropped passes today also. Maybe one or two was Cassel's fault.

Conclusion......We finally get a WIN!!!!!!!!!!

Where has Mays been?????

I have watched every Chiefs game and preseason this year. One name that stuck out to us huge in preseason was.......Corey Mays. This guy played hard and it appeared like we really got the defense turned around. Then, the regular season hit and you hear slim to nothing about the guy. What happened?

I heard of talks about DJ and Dorsey being shopped but what about Bowe?

Here is my first time post

First time post here so bare with me. With that being said I have been a die hard Chiefs fan all my life and as much as anyone, has been pretty beat up since the what its called the Herm three year term. Loved Herm coming in but of course only loved one of those years. Here are a few things I have seen in my own opinion........

I love the fact we moved over to a 3-4 defense. But I am coming to realize that without being patient with two or three defensive linemen (rookie and second year players) your just going to beat up yourself watching the game. Hali you can tell is got his motor running and Vrabel is consistant with his play. With our exotic blitzes that dont get to the qb means it dont matter how good our d-backs are its not going to look good. Everyone seen Austin tear us up right? The only thing I dont understand is why you blitz our best corner (Flowers) when Austin was killing us on big plays. After the first couple or five big plays Austin did against our Chiefs, I would of said that Flowers was only lining up against Austin and Austin only for the rest of the game. No way Leggett was going to cover that guy after the mode Austin was in during that point of the game. Dont get me wrong, I love Leggett but you dont take your nickleback to cover their game changer. So with the defense being said I question the play calls. But what do you with a defense that dont get to the qb too often.

Special teams are our strongest strength. Haley has preached it and there are players wanting to win that starting job through special teams. It shows big time if you ask me. Other than our return game.

Now last but now least.......our offense. How many of us did we think it would be a marginal vision of the good ol days of Dick Vermeil? I was hoping and wishing. I was looking for a fountain to throw change in all off season. You can say all you want about our line. Ya not good. Im not even going to call the lineman by name to prove a point. LT.....yes has played some real good defenses. But you can tell he has dropped maybe one step or two. LG? I love this guy by the way......you can tell he has lost a step or two himself. I was at a Raiders game which I love to attend and we have never been beat since I started to go to the ol Raiders-Chiefs rivalry. I seen the (player) LG throw around Warren Sapp like I never seen a offensive lineman do to anyone at anytime. So at that point I thought wow impressive. Center? Didn't watch him a whole lot until I read our loyal Chiefs fans on here complain about the guy. And fellow Chiefs fans? Now I see what your saying. RG cant say a whole lot but trust me Ill be watching him next game. And the circus fairytale at RT? I think we have up graded since training camp.

Larry Johnson only showed his pissed off running style in one game if you ask me and it was the Giants game. Maybe a little in the Raiders game. Larry!!! Look to bounce it outside once in awhile!!!!! Half the time its wide open!!!!! I do agree coaches trying to stay on his good side. Maybe to build him up to trade. Just whats been in the back of my head. I think it should be a three back game like alot of teams are doing these days. Larry, Jamal, and either or the next two guys in line cause you can tell those last two want it really bad. Look at preseason.

Tightend? Dont have much to say. Better than I thought it would be without the great all mighty Tony gone.

And finally our QB, another one Ill say the player also. Our player at this starting possition can be good dont get me wrong. But how many times do us fans yell......Get rid of the F...ing ball!!!!!!!!!!!!!. We seen him hold onto it way too long last season and still doing it again now. Man the guy and coaches should have a rule from snap by now. One....Two....Three....Better get rid of it soon.....four.....Cant find anyone......Sacked. We need to start finding fast ways to get the ball out and stress it in practice to him. Thats a fact that our line isnt going to turn into probowlers overnight. Remember week one? When Todd says what to Brodie? I would love for Todd to have another sideline moment but instead with our starting QB (the player) saying..........Get rid of the f...ing ball. You f...king here me? Get rid of the f...ing ball. He is deathly affraid to throw it down field to take a chance since the Raiders game. He only does in the fourh quarter when the game is ours to lose. Still needs to prove me somthing if you ask me. Defenses pack the box knowing Larry is going to run into the back of our line or the player QB is going to check it down underneath.

Todd Haley........Love the guy. Emotional, find a way to win guy. What can I say. I believe this guy is the real deal with time. Time will tell. GGGGGOOOOO CCHHIIEEFFSS!!!!
