UPDATED (thru March 7) The Blob: A look at the playoff contenders' schedules in the homestretch
Updated on Tuesday March 8, about 12:15 in the morning...
I have updated all teams for games through Monday, March 7th. I have removed Columbus and St. Louis from the blob, as it's a pretty fair assumption that given the Western Conference, those two teams are pretty well cooked. Feel free to argue this point with me in the comments, I'll need something to read through in class tomorrow. Also, I'm too lazy to bother moving around all the teams from the order that they were in before, so now I've updated each team's little blurb to also include their current position as compared to their previous position. I'll continue updating this post as the homestretch continues.
Additionally, I did not update the Blob Classifications for the Blue Jackets and Blues or any other teams as I think it's probably obvious by now that the Blues and Jackets are finished, and since we have the freedom to think whatever the hell we want, think whatever you want on the Blob.
Hey everyone. I'm a massive lurker here, but I pick up the Indian at the UC every home game I go to -- my dad and I have season tickets in Section 320. I love this site, and read it all the time.
So, as we all know from this maddeningly inconsistent season, the Blackhawks are back in the thick of the massive jumble of teams fighting for position for the right to say they were one of eight survivors and a chance to defend last year's Stanley Cup championship in this year's playoffs.
Since I say I lurk a lot, I know you guys have gone over a ton of statistical comparisions, and I enjoyed reading all of your posts.
But, statistics aside, my father was wondering the other day about what the schedules look like for the contenders?
Fair warning: This is going to be a very long fanpost, so if you're not ready to sit down and read it all, then don't read just yet. If you want to waste your time reading this, then read on!

Schedule Breakdown Elaboration
This is building off of stanchar's FanPost the other day. He gets all the credit for this idea. However, I wanted to elaborate a little more.
He categorized the schedule from August 1st until the end of the regular season into hard, medium and easy series. However, I took this one step further. I went into Microsoft Excel and listed the schedule with the categorization that he gave them with the exception of Boston, which I moved to medium per the OPOS WU's insights in the comments on that...
Boston is not hard.
Lots of injuries. I’d rate them “medium” at this point. Detroit should’ve swept them this weekend and would’ve if they had a bullpen. And Detroit sucks.
Why yes.
Yes, I did. BOS fans describe Ellsbury as a “clubhouse cancer”. Pedroia might not come back as strong. Papi is on fire right now and will regress. Their pitching is OK. JP is getting lit up.
You watch. Medium.

This, I believe, gives us a better way of looking at the schedule and to see exactly where we need to exploit it to give us the best possible opportunity to return to the postseason again.
Follow the jump for a more detailed look at the schedule for the two contenders in the division, provided we don't screw up against the Tigers this week and next weekend.

Chicago Blackhawks 2010-11 Schedule
The NHL has just released the schedule for all the teams. I thought it'd be nice to have a quick fanshot link to the Hawks' schedule.
October 9th can't come soon enough.
Boredom leads to tinkering with fantasy...
So, with the Olympic break and the rather general lack of truly exciting hockey- don't get me wrong, it's just hasn't been the same yet --of course until we get USA/Canada tomorrow-- er, tonight, I mean as I'm up yet again late. I really should be catching up on my sleep, I've been kinda bored.
Once upon a time, during economics class, I was doodling around in my notebook and within five minutes I had started restructuring divisions. The notebook page got way too messy for me to scan up here (and I'm too lazy to figure out how to use a scanner... wait, I'm not even sure we have one?).
Anyway, this got selected as a Best Answer on Yahoo Answers (I'm so fucking proud!), then I was talking to my friend Kevin, and he decided to get on the fun of division realignment, so we decided to make this fanpost (or at least I did mostly) and see what you bunch of alcoholics who read this blog have to say about this.
So, without further ado for your massive time-wasting and probably more likely suited to read on the toilet while taking a massive dump because you swallowed tobasco sauce while listening to Pierre McGuire reading pleasure, I have gone to the liberty of typing this whole hot mess up in Microsoft Word and copying and pasting it over here.
Please be warned though, this post is extremely fucking long, but I think it is well worth the read. Mostly due to my ramblings, but that's that I guess.
OH AND THERE'S A POLL AT THE END!
