Coaching philosophy

could put us over the top.  Listening to coach Haley's press conferences has arrested a lot of my fears and preconceived impressions of his attitude and his ability to be a head coach.  He is pushing competition to its highest level. he's not giving anyone any cushion of comfort.  He made everyone lose weight so that they couldn't slack off by using their size to gain an advantage and therefore making it necessary for them to use fundamental techniques like everyone else.

I see exactly what he is doing and I am sure the players do too.  I've been waiting for training camp to see what we have to look forward to and I think the future is looking real good now for the Chiefs. I think there will be a lot of surprises this year for all the teams on our schedule who are taking us for granted.

The core of our team is young, but the blend of older players gives us a chance to win right now.  I don't think we have ever beaten the Houston Texans but I think this is just one more reason to come out of the shoot firing on all cylinders. I know it's only preseason, but it would be nice.

I love it!  Next Saturday baby!  Let's go!  Chiefs!

Brodie's last stand....

Does Brodie Croyle have a chance.... Nobody wants to talk about the possibility that he might be our be our starting OB. I think he's going to come out fighting for the job and I don't see anybody to beat  him out.  I think the kid really wants to play.  Maybe his injuries are behind him and he has a good run at it.  Who knows?

Even though he hasn't played a lot  I think he has experienced a maturation prossess  and has that behind him.  I  think he has the potential to be a leader for a long time and could take us to another level.  I'm looking forward to seeing how he does in traning camp and preseason.

I also don't think the coaches have given up on him.  I think Chan Galey has an offense ready and waiting for Brodie.

Haley's Press confrence

I'm surprised nobody mentioned it on the AP.  Check it out on Kcchiefs.com.  He was real vague as usual but he said that 60 plus players showed up and he was real pleased.  He wouldn't comment on any specific players but 60 players is just about the whole team. I'm assuming the" Kansas City three" Johnson, Waters and Gonzo showed up.

I'm pleased to hear him not comit to any specific system, so it looks like he's going to develop an offense and defense to fit the talent that we have.

He kept saying that everybody has a clean slate.  Looking more like everybody's kissed and made up.

Hailey's sinking the ship

The Brian Waters incident has completely destroyed Pioli's ability to attract Free agents.  Haily needs to do something quick to right the ship.  It was a big mistake no matter who's fault.  Brian coming out and making the comments he made about arrogance and the Cardinals veterans dislike for Hailey, came at the worse possible time.

The Chiefs management style of  "sorry no comment", Just doesn't work.  Hailey and Pioli need a major public relations makeover.  I'm sure Hailey's not all that bad and to have a few Cardinals come out on his behalf would be a great place to start.  Also, a public statement from one or both of them (Haley, Pioli) , apologizing to Waters ( no matter who was right or wrong) would go a long way.  Admit that they made a mistake and from now on, opening their doors to Players who have issues or questions. Having Waters on board would be great.

It's probably too late for free agency but it's not too late to keep the ship from sinking.

Matt Cassel

Is coming to the Chiefs according to Adam schefter.  The deal is done.  Let's see how good he is behind  our OL. and our running game.

Are we going to make any deals with anyone besides the Patriots.  I think any QB would look good behind the Pats line.

I don" think this is that good of a deal.  Looks like Pioli's having trouble moving on. I hope I'm wrong but I don't think matt's the golden boy everybody thinks he is.

Dejavu

Donnie Edwards.  Vrable.  Pioli cuts Donnie and brings in Vrable.  Vrable is probably decending just like Donnie.

Pioli's first  player picked up is from his old team the Patroits. Carl Peterson was familiar with  Donnie and thought he would come in and be a great leader. Pioli probably thinks the same thing about Vrable.

The problem is that these two good players were surrounded by other good vetran players.  The Chiefs need to quit trying to plug in leaders.  Leaders need to emerge from within. Young players are not going to be inspired by these guys they are going to be intimidated which will cause them to hesitate.

If we are going to bring in free agents lets' stick with young ones.  Let this team find it's own identity.

I hope Vrable works out but it sure seems like we've been here before. I'm not impressed with Pioli's conservitive moves so far.

Chiorboy Huddle

Maybe we can bring back the choirboy huddle.  A nice way to show a little respect for Chiefs history and tradition.  I think Pioli likes it.  He said it made one of the greatest football pictures of all time.

I chose Choirboy for my name to bring attention to the issue.  I would like to know how it originated . I heard one story that one of the chiefs players complained that another player had bad breath.  I think that probalby Hank Stram saw it as a way to keep the defense from getting our plays. Hank was always looking for an edge.

I think it went away because the quarteback couldn't see subustitutions or how the defense was lining up.  I believe it really dosen't matter that much since defenses are all milling around and trying to disguise what they are doing anyway.

If we did it just once or twice a game I think it would rock the stadium and would be a great tribute to Len Dawson and rest of the old offense. Let' bring it back!

Stopping the run

I don't understand why it would be so hard to switch to a 3 4  defense, grab Aaron Curry with  #3 pick, shop the free agency market for another LB.  We've got Derrick Johnson.  Turk, Tank and Dorsey on the line.  Maybe Tamba  could squeeze in.  Our secondary's got good size and speed.

Let's stay young.  These guys are not old dogs, they can learn new tricks.  It would be nice if we had a DC who fit the system too.  Poor Gunther was just Herm's puppet.

It's going to be interesting to see what Pioli does.  I know we need help everywhere but maybe if we could stop the run we might win a few more games.

wait till traning camp

Can't believe I got such a rise our of califan. 1. A coach can have an effect on the state of mind of his team. Herm would say "you play to win the game", but told his team "just don't lose the game". 2. If you got sacked 50 times a game you'd be injury prone too. I'm not ashamed of my post. I watched all the games and even when they were ahead you knew they expected to lose. Attitude and believing in yourself has a lot to do with winning.

Go with Brodie.

I think Brodie Croyle can make a comeback. He was put under too much pressure from Herm to just not loose the game. I think he was too worried about interceptions etc. Maybe he just needs the right coach and a better OL. He might flourish under a Chan Galiey designed offense. He never really got a chance. Let's go with what we've got before drafting another one. You never know what you might get. I think Herm had Brodie and the whole team under too much pressure. I'd like to see a new coach just turn them loose.
