Draft Analysis in animated GIF's (check pick 70)
Who wants to read a draft analysis when you can look at reactions. Don't forget to check pick 70.
Michael Lombardi's rant against Gabberts and Jaguars
Read and React to Mr. Lombardis words in NFL.com. I just felt, as always that they are extremely harsh and even extreme. I showed it to a Dolphin's fan and he was amazed on the tone of Michael Lombardi's words. Here it goes!
Now for the bad. In my 20-plus years in the NFL, I don't think I have seen a high first-round pick look as scared or as out of place as Blaine Gabbert. The game looks entirely too big for him. When the ball is in his hand, he treats it like a hot potato. His play was embarrassing, considering he was a top 10 pick. I believed Gabbert was a good prospect and wrote about it leading up to the draft. When everyone was concerned about his down-field throws, I thought he would be able to adjust. But never did I think his eye level would be this low, his unwillingness to hang in the pocket this bad. I readily admit my mistake. Now the Jags need to do the same. The longer they play him, they run the risk of losing the team. How can they expect the players around him to buy in? Gabbert cannot fool his teammates. If he continues to play like this, no one will want to play with him.
Now, I understand it is really early in Gabbert's career, and the Jags have a pedestrian offense and no receivers around him. But his play borders on that of an undrafted free agent. Organizations that are the most successful are the ones that ignore draft status and evaluate the players on how they play. I realize the Jags have a significant investment in Gabbert, but they have a bigger one in winning games.
Jags GM Gene Smith has a huge problem. He has to lure a coach into Jacksonville and convince that potential coach that what he is seeing on tape is not the player who Gabbert really can become. Who would want the job saddled with a first-round bust? Smith can find anyone to agree to becoming an NFL head coach, but the good candidates will walk away, or won't even interview.
New owner Shahid Khan has to feel excited about finally being a part of a super-exclusive club. I am not so sure he should feel as excited about his team or its future. The one thing I know for sure -- his Jaguars won't be on national television again any time soon

Thinking about pick 1...
Its 2 in the morning and im thinking about pick one (its dangerous when i think). Ok, we couldn't trade down without loosing alu alu. So forget about tyson. Lets say we traded positions in round 1 with the chargers on a similar deal as the one they did with miami.
we would give pick 1st round 10 4th round 6th round
and we would get Lb Tim Dobbins, 1st round 28 pick, 2nd round pick (40 overall) and a 4th round pic.
Lets say this was the only change in the draft.
We would have sacrificed Alu alu, Karim, and nothing else if we could have made that deal with raiders.
And would have gained a pick at 28 (Jared Odrick, Jhavid best, or jerry hughes? according to the draft)
with the second sound we could have gotten lee, koa misi, ben tate perhaps?
So for the value of Alualu we could have gotten 1 second round extra player.
Will alualu's actual value be of both jhavid best and sean lee put together??
I just hope.
Rolando Maclain?? and Kampmans signing.
Hey , guys, i think Rolando Maclain it is a great guess for our pick this year, but, im starting to dislike this kids footage.
I just saw this video, and although he is strong and tackles on his feet, he does look slow, and get seriously distracted with some blocks, forgets the ball. He does have some good reading skills, but, i think he is no MACHINE, and maybe not BAP at 10. It doesnt feel completely right.
Regarding our last year 1 pick. Its true we had serious need at OT, thats why we had hired tra thomas. And had need at WR, where we hired tory Holt.
So I post this crazy thought….
He have recently hired Kampman … sooo, we are surely getting new DE this year for Kampman to develop. Just like Tory Holt did, and Tra did.
What do you think? Could this be Gene's strategy. Guessing which are our possibilities for BAP, and which guys we are fond of, and then hiring great old "teachers". Or is it just that we are taking care of the need in FA, just in case BAP doesnt cover our needs?
I think it is kinda weird last year we covered our needs in the draft, and had a couple of veterans waiting on the kids.
I wouldnt be surprised if we pick in late rounds a couple of sleeper DE's, avoiding bust risk at this urgent need position. Or taking a Calculated risk with machine Derrick Morgan?
JAGUARS FAN from a little country needs HELP!!!
Hello,
My name is Juan Sanguinetti, im a young jaguars fan from Montevideo, Uruguay, a country in south America. A VERY small country with no more than 3 million people!!! Ive been playing football for 2 years in a country where soccer is predominant and theres a tackle football league with no more than 110 players. My team is called Emperors, we are the champions of my countrys league. We are trying to make Football grow!! So this year we decided to host a MINI CAMP on 2 and 3rd of May, at the same time the jaguars are hosting theirs. I had this crazy idea to stablish a contact via WEb or via Video exchange so that my team could be motivated knowing our efforts to promote Football may affect others apart from ourselves. As the only contact with football i have is throught BCC, i would love if we could agree to an exchange.
It would help me a lot if you could answer this post. Im sorry for my rusty english, here we speak spanish. Any idea helps!
Thanks
