I know he hasn't cleared out of the White House yet, but it's never too early to wonder about the future.

For whatever reason, some baseball gurus predict that President Bush will eventually take over as the next Commissioner of Major League Baseball (or that it is his intent to become the commissioner). I truly don't understand where this is coming from, but I thought it'd be fun to wonder what would happen if Bush were to become it.

Despite current approval ratings, if he were to become MLB Commish, he'd be more liked than Bud Selig right away. Hands down.

I'm not a funny person, some I won't embarrass myself by attempting to take shots at a lame duck president or Bud Selig.

Instead, I'll ask you what you think would happen if this were to happen, so fire away.

Callis: Rangers farm system > Oakland's

In the latest Ask BA, Jim Callis was asked whether the Rangers have the best farm system in the majors. And, while he doesn't directly answer the question, he does make a few noteworthy remarks

I'd rank Texas ahead of Oakland because I like their depth and their balance of hitters and pitchers a little more...

We've all discussed this before. Oakland has more quality arms (Cahill, Anderson, etc) but not much in hitting department.

Andrus might be the best shortstop prospect in the minors, while Feliz might have the best pure fastball

Somehow, I feel that much of the anticipation we felt when the Rangers acquired Andrus, has faded after a good-but-not-great year at Frisco. I, too, think he won't be as great as expected (when he was in Braves's system).

Callis is right, though. He "might" be the best shortstop prospect in the minors. But that's because there aren't that many great SS prospects after Andrus and Beckham.

Behind Jeff Clement (SEA) and Chris Marrero (WAS)? That really bugs me.
