hard to believe only modric and bale making this list at 25 and 45 respectively...but i guess you could argue it.

TSN REPORT: BOOGAARD HAD DEGENERATIVE BRAIN CONDITION
This is a big deal right? This could change the game in the next decade.
Thoughts and prayers to those families that are dealing with these issues and/or losses related to them.
Kings Target Tim Gleason?
this from the hockey insider:
http://nhlsourcessay.blogspot.com/2010/06/kings-to-target-tim-gleason.html
Kings To Target Tim Gleason
The L.A. Kings will target Tim Gleason this off season. Gleason has been on the Kings radar for some time. Sources feel it will eventually get done. Talks for this possible swap should heat up come draft day.
Note: A good source has brought to my attention that Paul Martin is another option on the Kings list.
i dont see this happening?
am i misinformed, or is this just news drummming?
taylor hall looks really scared of the camera
Could Commodore be on his way back to Carolina?
Mike Commodore, Carolina's former D man and fan favorite is having troubles in Columbus. The fiesty D man who is number 22 has been a healthy scratch for the last two games for the Columbus Blue Jackets. With all the reunions that seem to happen in Raleigh could Commy be on his way out of Columbus and headed elsewhere? And if so, where would he go other than right back to Carolina?
whitney to oilers? cant be..
I woke up to find this little confusing tid bit in my google alert inbox today.
did anyone else see it? it obviousle doesnt make sense and its made up of mostly jibberish, but for a second my heart dropped.
please dont trade whitney
(not until the trade deadline when we are in last place, and especially not before ray whitney night!)
here is what i saw (and the link to it was dead)
Ray Whitney Trade Oilers

EA poops on Canes (maybe)
if you dont play EA sports NHL games, dont bother reading this post. but if anyone cares i thouhgt id pass this along.
I'm not 100 percent sure that these are real and true, but i dont see why someone would go to the trouble to hoax this. With the new EA NHL 10 coming, leaks have apparently been made of the players ratings. Like many years past the Canes seem completely whacked out.
I am basically stealing this from a commenter named "camward=playoffs" over at letsgocanes.com so i gues ill just copy in his post.
future caniac
since someone else did, i figured i would.
this is brooks christopher juengel.

can we do this? [poll]
hurricanes looked good (imo) last night minus some bad turnovers and a few scary flurries in there own end that seemed to snowball.
im thnking as i go into my weekend that carolina seems to be missing a few key parts. this is only echoing sentiments detailed all week by bubba and cory. but i cant help but wonder which player is most affecting the canes?
which underachieving player do you think is most important to get their groove back in order to win this series?
poll ends thursday.
FSC to broadcast game 3 and 6 in HD!
this from chip at canes now:
Just a quick note to pass along from the Hurricanes' P.R. staff. Game Three and Game Six of the Canes-Devils playoff series, if the series goes to six games, will be shown in HD by Fox Sports Carolinas.
Game Three and Game Six are set for the RBC Center.
dish better get the word and not miss out.
because this will be great. hd makes a world of difference
Devils win when they score first.
this from hradek at espn.com
4. First-strike Devils. The Devils are just a different team when they score first. In the regular season, New Jersey compiled a 37-5-2 record when it grabbed the first lead. In case you were wondering, that's a league-best .841 winning percentage in that situation. In this league, teams that score first win at about a 65 percent rate. That means it's important to score first. In New Jersey's case, the numbers indicate it's really important to score the first goal. If the Devils can continue to bring the same effort, this is going to be a short series.

canes odds almost 70% to make playoffs
NHL playoff chances by sports club stats has the hurricanes 2:3 to make the playoffs.
with the rangers and sabres under 50%
this is interesting stuff. well worth a look.
this is probably one of the coolest sites ive ever seen:
http://www.sportsclubstats.com/NHL/Eastern/Southeast/Hurricanes.html
from the site:
What is It:
3 things:
- Your teams odds of making the playoffs (or winning the title for sports without playoffs).
- How upcoming games impact those odds.
- How well they have to finish out to have a shot.
It knows the season schedule and scores for past games. Each night it grabs any new scores from the internet and simulates the rest of the season by randomly picking scores for each remaining game. The weighted method takes the opponents record and home field advantage into account when randomly picking scores, so the better team is more likely to win. The 50/50 method gives each opponent an equal chance of winning (or tying if the sport allows it) each game. When it’s finished "playing" all the remaining games it applies the league’s tie breaking rules to see where everyone finished. It repeats this random playing out of the season million of times, keeping track of how many "seasons" each team finishes where. Finally it updates the site with the new results for you to read with your morning coffee.
Nathan Horton out for a while after hand surgery
it seems to me that this is big news for canes fans.
from on frozen pond:
Florida center Nathan Horton will be out an undisclosed amount of time after having surgery to repair the ring finger on his left hand, The Miami Herald's David J. Neal is reporting.
Horton told Neal today at Incredible Ice that his hand was stepped on right before David Booth scored his third goal against the Blues on Saturday. Horton had surgery following the game and has his hand in a splint. He says the trainers have not given him a timetable for a return.
RYAN on WAIVERS
this is bad.
if we lose michael ryan, we lose a big part of our future.
his speed and scoring ability will only grow and could be invaluable in the future the near future, not to mention his entry level contract price could be a big help next season.
chip at canes now has michael ryan on waivers at noon today
FROM CANES NOW:
The fourth line has Dwight Helminen centering Scott Walker and Ryan Bayda, with Tim Conboy also in the fourth-line mix.
UPDATE: Ryan, who was not at practice today, is being placed on waivers at noon, Maurice said.
UPDATE 2: RYan has not been plaiced on waivers and is with the team.
canes in playoffs for 35 minutes
http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/standings
it was nice while it lasted, great game against washington,
but the let downs continued as i switched over to versus and watched a recchiless and robertsless tampa bay put pittsburg right back in front of us subsequently pushing us back into 9th place.
when will the pressure stop, never.
here is my question:
getting ahead of buffalo is not good enough anymore, and the canes still arent in 8th.
who is going to be the team that falters to 9th to allow the canes to place somwhere in the 6-8 seeded range?
boynton possibly going to waivers.
DEAR JR
please dont pick up boynton off of waivers.
-chris.
[FROM PUCK DADDY]
The Florida Panthers have sent Nick Boynton home for "disciplinary reasons" while the team is on a Northeast swing. George Richards reports that "Boynton was benched for the third period of Thursday's comeback win against the Rangers and there have been rumors general manager Jacques Martin was even thinking of waiving Boynton." But it's all a bit of a mystery as for why this has occurred. One thing's pretty clear: Boynton might be on his fourth team since 2006 by next week. great staal interview
Puck Daddy Live Rumors Chat
Made my way into the Puck Daddy live rumors chat.
The powers that be say that the chance of getting Cole back are low.
And they also choose not to comment on whether or not the canes should be buyers of sellers.
though im biast, i still think we got a great chance to make the playoffs.
