Ozzie linked with EPL clubs
This is in spanish unfortunately. Alonso is quoted as saying "I know that I’m being looked at by several teams in the Premier League, but I’m concentrating on working here [in the USA] and if something comes about, I’d welcome it."
No clue if this is completely unfounded or not or if 'El Nuevo Herald' is legit... but came across the link and thought I'd share.
I work as a an engineering project manager at Boeing on the 787 program. Today we delivered the first 787 to All Nippon Airways of Japan. Here's a shot of the ceremony, where they handed out scarves and asked the crowd to hold them up. I asked one of the communications people who organized the event if there was any Sounders influence on the scarves and holding them up, and she said she believed that the higher-ups got the idea from the displays at the games. (Presumably ECS's Sounders 'til I Die chant) Thought that was pretty cool, their influence even reaches into the corporate world!

I'm pretty sure two seconds after this photo was taken, Mike Fucito turned green, ripped off his jersey, then threw a car.
(I wanted to make sure everybody saw this photo who usually doesn't check out the SBN main page)

George John's move to Blackburn called off
No real details on why, but it sounds like Blackburn were the ones to end talks. He will be available for the USOC match against us.
Bob Bradley relieved of duty as USMNT coach
"Bradley was named the head coach of the U.S. MNT in January of 2007 and during his five-year tenure compiled a 43-25-12 record. He led the team to a number of accomplishments, including winning the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup, finishing second in the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup, winning their World Cup qualifying group and advancing to the Round of 16 of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa."
"This announcement comes after a meeting at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., between Gulati, Bradley and U.S. Soccer CEO Dan Flynn."
Irish Striker Kyle Lafferty being targeted by Seattle
The article doesn't cite any sources and I can't find any info through Google, but apparently the Sounders have made a bid for Lafferty, who is currently with Rangers. In his 84 apps with them he has 28 goals, and has been capped by Northern Ireland 29 times with 8 goals.
OBW off the DL
Good news for our offense to have one of our key players back.
Two trialists to play tonight in Vancouver reserve match
The first is Cillian Sheridan as we all know now. The second trialist is 18 year old Myron Samuel who plays for Avenues United FC in the St Vincent and the Grenadines' NLA Premier League. He scored 19 goals in 16 appearances for Avenues. He has scored 3 goals in 6 appearances for the St Vincent national team.
Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) joins USL
MISL will now be run by the USL. I don't know really what business implications this has, other than USL presumably being a bit more financially sound than MISL, which is seemingly as fragile as every other indoor soccer league incarnation there has been.
I'm excited for the possibility of MISL expansion, I had a blast seeing the SeaDogs play when they were around.
Six more FIFA members accused of bribery in WC bidding
Not surprising that more corruption has been brought to light. Our own CONCACAF President Jack Warner was even named! From what I assume, even if what we suspect is true and the WC's in Russia and Qatar were bought, it doesn't matter for them in the long run. They won it, and FIFA won't take it away from them. So as long as you win, it doesn't seem to matter how you won.
Vagenas signed by Vancouver Whitecaps
This is exciting to hear for me at least. I liked Pete and was sad to see him exit the way he did. I'm glad he's still playing, and that's it's for a decent team.
MLS Power Rankings - Sounders jump from 11th to 6th
I know this really doesn't mean anything in the grand scheme of things, especially considering how poor the reporting is for MLSSoccer.com, but it was nice to see at least they recognize the team has turned a corner and are on the up and up.
Grant Wahl ends his FIFA Presidency campaign
We all knew it was a longshot, but today Grant Wahl ended his campaign. He did a nice 4-page writeup for SI.com that I thought was pretty fascinating, recounting what's happened and what he's done over the past couple months since he announced his candidacy. It reads like a less exciting "Bourne" movie (which he references) but is exciting nonetheless to see what waves a microscopic fish can make in a big, corrupt pond.
Our new baby Alexa swaddled in the best scarf ever. 3 days old at the time of this picture. Also notice the Sounders themed cap our friend specially knitted for her.
Non-existent New York Cosmos sign first player
"Laryea Kingston claims he is set to agree a two-year deal with Major League Soccer side New York Cosmos."
That's funny, I didn't realize the Cosmos were an MLS side.
Erik Friberg signing made official
It's official - Swedish midfielder Erik Friberg is a Sounder. He's played the last four seasons for Allsvenskan side BK Hacken with 82 appearances and 5 goals, according to his Wikipedia page.
It's official - Qatar gets 2022 World Cup. Russia takes 2018.

At the cusp of the three clubs returning to the highest professional level in North America the supporters groups have been left in the dark with rumors emanating from Seattle that owner Joe Roth has decided that only 150 visiting supporters will be allowed in to, "ensure the safety and security of the Seattle fans while keeping the integrity of the home crowd and the great atmosphere." The Cascadia supporters groups strongly disagree with that sentiment.

ECS, Timbers Army, Southsiders unite to oppose 150 visitor's ticket limit.
Sounders FC ownership not warming up to the idea of away fans at derbies
A good article I ran across over at Prost Amerika. Very disappointing news though. The idea of limiting away tickets to 150 seems ludicrous. Derbies with a strong away following are what make our rivalries great!
MLS moves to 34 game season in 2011
Pretty exciting if you ask me. I was really hoping this would happen. Maybe we'll have to two less friendlies as a result :)
Ljungberg comments on rumors of his departure
It's very brief. He doesn't deny the rumors, only says that "anything can happen". He reiterated that he loves Seattle and the fans, and that they've been great.

I'm still not sure what to think at this point. But if anything, this quick interview would sway me towards him leaving. His contract expiration is mentioned a couple times, followed by him saying "we'll see what happens."
