On the Forecheck Let them know you are against any sort of stoppage in the NHL next year!

Let your voice be heard! Carry signs! Write letters! We, the hockey fans, want a full season of hockey next year! We won't settle for less! To the players: We pay so you get paid to play! You hear us! You get PAID to PLAY HOCKEY! To the owners: Without us, there is no you! You earn money by making us happy! We will be very upset with you if there isn't a full season of hockey!

Don't make us jump ship! We are THIS CLOSE to becoming full-time Curling fans!

On the Forecheck Thanks, OTF and the OTFers, for a great year

Just saying thanks to Dirk, Chris, Sam, Aditya and the others who make this site possible and chock full of links and information. Now, you can't say it is a thankless job. Seriously, though, I've had a good time meeting OTFers at the games and even walking down the street (That's you, Pete Schweddy!) I am a tremendously more informed fan on all things Preds because of all your work. Thanks to all the posters for keeping it lively and occasionally chippy, and finally admitting Klein is the future of defense in the NHL. Ha!

Here's to all of you and to a long post-season!!!!!!!!

On the Forecheck If you liked HBO's 24/7...

You might really love this.

Some friends of mine followed a couple of Caps around for the entire 09/10 season for the NHL. They were given lots of access. They gave Mike Knuble and Tyler Sloan recorders so that they could randomly record their thoughts. They went to practices to do interviews. They were at every home game post-game press conference, and caught a few away games, as well. They went to Hershey and followed Sloan on his journey to the NHL. All in all, it is a great piece for hockey lovers. They are doing another one this year and I can't wait to hear it. There are a lot of links on the page, including one that covers last year's Winter Classic. The documentary is under the heading "The Documentary". You can download or listen online. I guarantee that it is worth your time. If you don't like it, I will scream your screen name at an upcoming Preds game. ; )

Let me know what you think!

On the Forecheck Sports Illustrated has some kind words for Preds organization

The Devils, Flames and Senators have made the common mistake of overvaluing past performance and miscalculating present contributions. It is difficult to part ways with an aging player or a group that has had success. To do so takes discipline and an eye on the future. Look at the Nashville Predators. They are competitive every single season. Yet, they walked away from Arnott and defenseman Dan Hamhuis, who landed in Vancouver as a coveted free agent.

The Preds’ plan included those tough decisions because they can’t sign everyone, even their own free agents. Instead, they keep talent coming from within, and in this season’s case, that means Cody Franson and Kevin Klein get more responsibility on the blueline and Cal O’Reilly and Colin Wilson get worked into the mix more up front. It’s a hard reality, but it’s no different in philosophy than what the NFL’s New England Patriots practice: roll personnel through a well-established identity that revolves around a select group of core players while simultaneously staying in the moment and always being ready to make the next move.

On the Forecheck What is up with the Scotts?

Four teams that have former Preds named Scott made the playoffs. Scotts Hartnell, Upshall, Nichol, Walker.

How many former Preds, that have played an NHL game for the Preds, are on teams that made the Playoffs?

Kimmo, Hartnell, Upshall, Nichol, Walker, Marc Eaton, Ryan Parent, Fiddler, Jed Ortmeyer. Anyone else?

The rest of this fanpost is just trying to meet the 75 word minimum for publishing. La la la la la la la la la.
