Big Cat Country No home game in London

I'm not sure if anyone mentioned this yet but Weaver has stated that no home games will be played in London next year. I also doubt any away games will be played in London as well. I kind of liked the idea of playing over there but I guess Weaver has different plans.  He also said the team isn't for sale and isn't moving anywhere. So that can calm the LA Jaguars rumors for this week. You can read the story here.

Big Cat Country We may be without 3 key players on Sunday.

This is not the kind of news I want to hear, but we may be without Rashean MathisMike Sims-Walker and John Henderson on Sunday. All three are listed as doubtful on the injury report today. If Big Henderson doesn't play this could really hurt our rushing defense and we all know that Sims-Walker is a major part of our passing game. Anyways I really hope all three can play, but I guess we will have to wait and see.

Watch the video it is some crappy news I don't like to hear. But this guy seems pretty confident about getting 2 teams to L.A. The reporter in this story is pretty set on Jacksonville as being one of the teams. Anyways I hope this doesn't happen. Start buying tickets people!

Big Cat Country Troy Williamson out for year

Per league sources, Troy Williamson will be sidelined for the year with an arm injury. In a matter of one game we have lost two starting recievers, one cut because he couldn't catch in the endzone and the other due to injury. I do feel a little bad for Williamson, he was looking very impressive in the preseason and made a nice play yesterday had he not fumbled. Our recievers are looking thin and it's just a matter of time before Sims-Walker is hurt again, so don't be surprised if we bring in some help. Marvin Harrison anyone?

Big Cat Country Nate Hughes is cut after two dropped passes

Well this is really getting to the root of the Jaguars offensive and defensive problems. They have cut Nate Hughes after he missed two touchdown passes in the 4th quarter in yesterdays game. So we'll probably see either Mike Thomas or Jarett Dillard activated for next weeks game against the Houston Texans. I'm sure this will fix everything, really. Big Cat Country Pashos on the trading block?

According to ProfootballTalk.com and NBCSports.com Tony Pasho's is on the trading block. Usually teams try to trade bubble guys before they make the final roster cuts. Personally I am not a huge fan of the idea, after last year we need all the OL depth we can get. If he is traded I hope it's at least for a 3rd or 4th rounder, expecting much more would be foolish. Anyways we'll have to wait and see.

Big Cat Country Matt Jones, Jerry Porter and now Cleo Lemon meeting with Titans.

Another Update: It looks like the Titans are having Cleo Lemon come in as well.  They're really digging deep into the Jaguars dumpster. I'm guessing Reggie Williams is next?

Update: Jerry "Million per Catch" Porter is also meeting with the Titans.

Yes that's right, Matt Jones might be back in Jacksonville sooner then expected, just in a different uniform. Adam Schefter from ESPN is reporting that Matt Jones has been in contact with the Titans for the last 5 weeks and is going to work out for them tomorrow. Matt Jones agent just recently said "We're ready to go and get a deal done, and we're optimistic we will.  Matt is in outstanding shape, he's ready to go, and we think Tennessee would be a great fit." Also in contact with Jones has been the Cowboys and Bears

Big Cat Country Was Wayne Weaver trying to sell the Jags?

Let me start out by saying this, I can't stand Michael Silver, his articles and constant bashing of the Jaguars.  But his article I just read was kind of alarming and has me concerned. You can take this as just another rumor (which we hear every year) or you can be alarmed by it. Either way, let's hope none of it's true.

By Michael Silver, of Yahoo! Sports

25. Jacksonville Jaguars – Wayne Weaver: Last year, I decreed that the man I like to call Whine Weaver was the league’s worst owner. Now he can’t even crack the bottom seven. What a comeback! What happened? Basically, Weaver stopped whining, stopped clandestinely trying to sell the franchise and started becoming a team player in league circles. “You notice how many people get religion in prison?” one owner asks. “That’s what it’s like with Wayne – he got to a bad place, and now he’s trying.” In addition to making an honest effort to improve the Jags’ situation in a struggling market, Weaver, as chair of the league’s business ventures committee, played a significant role in the deals for state-lottery, hard-liquor and practice-jersey sponsorships. In fact, because all of those deals were innovative and generated lots of revenue, I’d probably rank Weaver even higher – if I were able to forgive him for being, in my opinion, such a bald-faced liar. From early ’07 up until about a year ago, when Weaver insisted he wasn’t trying to sell the Jags, it’s a good thing he wasn’t hooked up to a Polygraph – at least according to two owners familiar with the franchise’s status. “It’s no secret he wanted to cash out,” says one. “He put a prospectus out and had people kicking tires.” One source says that within the last 24 months an NBA owner had a deal in place to buy the Jags that ended up falling through because of cross-ownership complications with the league and that an East Coast businessman also came close to purchasing the team before backing out of negotiations.

Big Cat Country Del Rio to sit 3 starting LB's

Posted by ESPN.com's Paul Kuharsky

None of the Jaguars' three starting linebackers will play Thursday night in Philadelphia, as Jack Del Rio negotiates how best to use his people considering this is his team's third game in 11 days.
Justin Durant has a hip flexor and Clint Ingram is recovering from a head injury. Daryl Smith will be rested. Look for Thomas WilliamsBrian Iwuh and Tim Shaw to start.

Del Rio is likely to use the preseason finale Sept. 3 against Washington as more of the traditional dress rehearsal game.

"I don't think [the third game is] the same as it has been for us anyway, this year in particular due to our schedule," he said. "I think there's no way in the world that I would treat it that way based on what we're coming out of the last few days and what we're going into. I think we need to share the workload, clearly I've stated it that way, that's what we're going to do. I don't know that you'll get the same, Boy, this is a key indicator' type of moment that maybe you do in other camps or preseason work."

Big Cat Country Time to celebrate, Will James is released.

I'm not sure why the Jaguars didn't do this sooner, but Will James has finally been released. For those who don't know who Will James is, he was that guy who got burnt on pretty much every play during the beginning of last season, he's probably the worst corner to ever play the game. Anyways he's gone, thank you Jesus. Also first year tight end Charles Davis has been released. Here's the story:

Big Cat Country Stafford gets NFL Record Deal worth $78 Million

" The Detroit Lions agreed to terms with Georgia quarterback Matthew Stafford on a six-year, $78 million deal that includes an NFL-record $41.7 million guaranteed, sources told Yahoo! Sports on Friday. The deal represents the largest amount of guaranteed money for any player – rookie or veteran – in NFL history, exceeding the $41 million guaranteed that defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth received from Washington at the beginning of free agency this offseason."

Ok now this is getting ridiculous, the guy hasn't played a single down in the NFL, is a junior and now is getting paid the biggest contract in NFL HISTORY. If something doesn't scream ROOKIE CAP now I don't know what else would. I really hope the jags get out of the top 10 because if this is the contract to start out with, it 's not going to be pretty.

Big Cat Country Jags switching to a 3-4?

Apparently Del Rio is looking at the possibilities of making a switch to a 3-4 defense. Which I would be really excited about because both the Steelers and Ravens used a 3-4 and ranked 1st and 2nd in the league in defense. Anyways Charlie Bernstein from scout.com wrote an interesting article about how much of a reality a Jaguar 3-4 defense is. What are everyone else's thoughts about switching to a 3-4?

Big Cat Country Jags meeting with Mark Sanchez

Well it looks like the Jaguars might be interested in USC's quarterback Mark Sanchez. He is having dinner with someone from the Jags tonight and will do some personal work outs Monday. This isn't explosive news or anything but it is interesting. I do like him a lot better then Stafford. How would everyone else feel if he was the next franchise QB?

I need 10 more words to post this. word word

Big Cat Country Matt Jones arrested...again

Well add to the the list of the jaguars proverbial f ups. Matt Jones has been arrested again for possession of a controlled substance and violation of his parol. They are reporting it on profootballtalk.com along with his mug shot. Way to go Matt Jones! Now that you will be kicked off the team we are left with Buttery Hands Northcutt and Bum Knee Mike Walker, looks like we'll be drafting a Wide Reciever.
