Fedorov, Malkin, Kulemin, Emelin and Afinogenov scored for Russia with Ovechkin and Semin picking up assists on Fedorov's goal. Varlamov was selected as the player of the game for Russia and received a fancy new watch. Russia will now face Canada in the quarterfinal on Thursday. IIHF Recap IIHF Photos

7With Russia shorthanded against Denmark, Sergei Fedorov passed to Alex Ovechkin the slot. Ovechkin fired off a quick wrist shot that hit the net camera and bounced back so fast that the red light did not go off and the play was ruled no goal. The play was later reviewed and Ovechkin picked up his 5th goal of the World Championships. Pavel Datsyuk added a hat trick and Russian won 6-1, they will play Finland on Tuesday. Russia beats Belarus 4-1: Ovechkin 1 G, Varlamov 19 S
3Ovechkin scored his third goal of the World Championships and Varlamov made 19 saves in his first game since the Capitals were eliminated as Russia defeated Belarus in the final game of the preliminary round. Russia will face Germany next. Photographs Stat Sheet
