King Jackman on the IR (7 days min)
Blues defenseman Barret Jackman suffered a sprained ankle in Thursday's 4-2 loss to Atlanta and will be placed on injured reserve.
He will be sidelined a minimum of seven days.
Rookie defenseman Alex Pietrangelo will make his season debut in Saturday night's home game vs. Los Angeles.
The Blues also are expected to call up a defenseman from Peoria of the American Hockey League on Saturday.

Blues Pro-Orientation Camp Schedule
I'll be there on Saturday at least. Should be fun.
from the stlblues spam email file:
Blues Pro-Orientation Camp Begins Wednesday, July 8
Don't miss the Blues Pro-Orientation Camp, which begins Wednesday, July 8 at the Ice Zone at St. Louis Mills and concludes Saturday, July 11 with a Blue vs. Gold Scrimmage.
T.J. Oshie and Erik Johnson will join Blues prospects on the ice for four days of workouts and on-ice practice sessions. Prospects attending this year's camp include first round draft selections Ian Cole (2007), Lars Eller (2007) and Alex Pietrangelo (2008). Additional players expected to attend camp are Jake Allen, Ben Bishop, Philip McRae, Aaron Palushaj and Brett Sonne. A full list of participants is available at stlouisblues.com.
All events at the Pro-Orientation Camp are open to the public and free of charge. Arrive early, space is limited. Fans will have opportunities to meet players and receive autographs after each practice session on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
At 11 a.m. on Saturday, the prospects will square off in the Blue vs. Gold scrimmage. Doors open at 9 a.m. and the first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a free T-shirt courtesy of Fox Sports Midwest. Plus, all fans who attend get free Ice Zone skating passes. Space is limited to the first 1,500 fans.
This is a great opportunity to catch a first glimpse of the team's bright future. Don't miss it.

"Control" is an operative word in this agreement between SB Nation and the NHL. Only select stories are being linked on NHL.com, and anything that might resemble a cheap shot at League personnel or officials likely won't make the cut.
"My main goal is it to become a platform for people to talk about everything hockey," Mika said. "Just because it might be something we don't agree with doesn't mean it can't be discussed. There's parts of this game that are controversial, and that you can talk about. And then there's taking pot shots at the League, which we're not cool with. We're not giving bloggers access to NHL.com to take down Brian Burke."
That said, SB Nation's blogs don't typically traffic in the lewd and crude.
" Their network of bloggers aren't rogues. They know how to write," said Mika.----
cold: For some reason, I doubt too much STLGT content is going to end up on NHL.com..

Islanders win NHL Draft Lotto, Probably Tavares
It's crazy, but I remember thinking to myself a few months ago... well, if the Blues are lucky, they might get the #1 pick and that Tavares kid in the draft for next year.
And now look where we are.
from the article: We still won't know for more than two months whether John Tavares or Victor Hedman will be the No. 1 selection at the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
What we do know now, however, is that the New York Islanders will have their choice of the stud forward or defenseman.
