Over the past few years we've had multiple stars in the NBA looking to get traded. First, It was Carmelo Anthony, who despite his flaws is a legitimate star in the NBA. Analysts everywhere all said he would end up in New York (Knicks), and he did, so now it seems to be convenional wisdom that if a player wants to go somewhere that's where he'll ultimately end up traded to.

But if we look at another three stars we'll see a stark contrast. Chris Paul wanted badly the end up in New York (also Knicks), he ended up getting traded to LA (Lakers). Thank God for Stern btw. CP3 is now a Clipper. Dwight demanded to get traded to Brooklyn (not Knicks, woohoo!), but again he got traded to the Lakers. Granted he could have walked to Brooklyn, but the Magic never had any intention of trading him here, which is the point of this post. Josh Smith, though not publicly saying it, probably wanted to end up in Brooklyn too (my opinion only), and every analyst also said he would "ultimately" be traded here. But he didn't.

I think the lesson to be learned here is to never trade junk for star players. You always want have an attractive package. It's how the Knicks acquired Carmelo, and how Both LA teams acquired Chris Paul. Teams just don't like getting screwed, and might decide not to trade just out of spite, prefering capspace over nothing.

In fact, it might be better to not be the "likely" destination, just look how well the Rockets and the Clippers look now. Just sayin'

The win against the Pacers show that the Nets can hang with the best, but more importantly, it showed the Nets can hang with the best WITHOUT DERON. Now I'm not saying I want Deron gone. He is still our most talented player and the guy most capable of leading us into contention, but he needs to play with more urgency, and there is no better way to light a fire under Dwill than to show him that he is expendable (even if he really isn't).

This is exactly what made 'Melo play like an MVP this year. It wasn't the fact the Lebron won a ring and the pressure's on him. It wasn't the fact that he's paid alot of money and he isn't performing to standards. (Although those might have some bearing). The main reason Carmelo started playing well was because of Jeremy Lin.

Lin showed Melo he is expendable. Lin showed him that he's not the star of the Knicks. Lin showed him that if he wants to be treated like a star, he needs to put in maximum effort. Melo was playing like crap because he felt entitled as a star player. I think Deron's acting the same way this year.

The Nets need to show Deron that they don't need him, even if they really do, and there's no better way than this.

Let me preface this by saying I'm in no way promoting this trade, I personally like having Reggie on this team but I think this is a trade that helps both sides.

Just putting the idea out there because it seems like an interesting thought.

So why do this trade?

1) We need solid wing defenders, no one competent can back-up the oft-injured gerald wallace

2) We've got a thick rotation at power forward and while Reggie is a fan favorite and terrific for this team, I think he's the only one Miami would find useful with a contract acceptable to them

3) We open up more minutes for Blatche and Mirza

4) We get a shooter and a veteran with championship experience

5) Trading Hump for a good PF (like Nene or Millsap won't mess up or frontcourt rotation.

6) In terms of Age, they're both roughly as old so we're not really getting significantly less athletic

So what do you guys think?

Let's promise him the Head Coaching Job, if
1) Avery proves incompetent

I don't believe we're the new Hawks, so what are we? What playoff team of the past do you think this team most resembles? I not trolling, but I think we most resemble the Dwight-led magic.

We have a franchise player (Deron), who, while dominant is very flawed, and MIGHT not be the player that can lead a team to a title. We're built around two overpaid former-allstars, we have a nice young and arguably top tier bench, we're capped out and have little flexibility moving forward. In other words, these are our Nets, for better or worse, and this team won't likely change in the next few years.

So what does this mean for the Nets, what can they do to not stagnate like the Magic did?

1) Brook Lopez - The Magic's future at the time was pretty much set and solely dependent on the development of Dwight Howard, his ability to carry the offense and defense, shoot free throws and everything else, made or broke that team, and with his abilities already established, improvement was simply unlikely. Brook on the other hand, isn't the best player on our team, his role is important, but he isn't the one carrying this team and he has far more to improve upon that Dwight, in short, Brook's improvement can really take us from pretenders to contenders, that's why we're not the Hawks or the Magic, because we can still get better

2) Marshon and Tele - same as above, we need to utilize, these two players to their maximum potential. The player that most parallel these two is Ryan Anderson. Anderson was an underutilized role player that some teams have been drooling over based solely on potential. Yet he was never given the chance to blossom until Lewis was traded. The Nets need to give Marshon and Teletovic as much minutes as possible, if JJ gets lazy and Marshon shows he is better, JJ must get benched, everyone's replaceable.

3)Crash and JJ - Deron needs to prove he's about winning, by keeping these two motivated. Dwight Howard simply wasn't the leader that brought out the best effort from his teammates, Dwill can't be like that.

Overall, though, to see major improvements from our young players, is very optimistic, and we could very easily fail miserably in our quest for a title,

We need to learn from the failures of other teams, so what past team do we resemble, and what do you think we can learn from them?

I don't believe we're the new Hawks, so what are we?
We all like Brook Lopez, we all also like a championship for the Nets. We all know that getting Dwight dramatically increases our chances of that. But we all like Brook Lopez.

So, As a fan, what is the ABSOLUTE MINIMUM combination of attributes Lopez has to have for him to be untouchable IN YOUR EYES in a Dwight Trade. Which of these stats would you prioritize?

What about Brooklyn's frontcourt?

It's official, we have great backcourt. But I think our frontcourt is a bit underrated. Just an opinion poll, where do you think our frontcourt would rank next year, assuming we resign hump.

Here's my list :

1) Lebron (at PF) and Bosh (at center) - It think this is the most deadly combination because they've shown that when they play their best, they're terrific rebounders despite being undersized, this tandem's ability to shoot from anywhere and kick our to shooters means they either get a good look inside or a wide open 3. It's not regular season sustainable, but only the playoffs really matter anyway.

2) Bynum and Gasol - two legit star bigs that have no real deficiency besides complacency

3) Howard and ______ - he's so good he'll jump to third even when paired with a D-Leager

4) Randolph and Gasol - They mesh perfectly

5) Boozer and Noah

6) Love and Pekovic

7) Jefferson and Millsap

8) Griffin and Jordan

9) Lopez and Humphires - I really can't think of a better frontcourt aside from those above. Hibbert is totally overrated. Magic fans keep mocking us about Lopez's "potential" but that's really what anyone sees with Hibbert anyway. He's not that much of a better rebounder, despite being 7'2", and hump is a rebounding machine, the key here is that our frontcourt is young and athletic and still has room to grow. I think with better teammates, Lopez's rebounding will return to form (about 8.5, i think that will be his best), because he will be focused on being a true center, not just carrying the offense. Along with all our weapons, I think hump will be our Rodman, averaging 12 rbs and 7 pts, and doing nothing else

10) Hibbert and West
