Going to a game; need advice

Over the past few years my sons, now five and six years old, have become big Penn State football fans. So, as neither of them nor my wife have ever been to a football game, I've been thinking of taking them to one. Living here near the other PSU (Portland State), I'd supposed we'd go to some local high school game or other.

But, then I thought: Why not go 500 times further to see a real game with 500 times the attendance?

OK, that's not exactly the thought process, but anyway... we've booked flights back to State College and we're going to the Akron game.

Now, I haven't been to Penn State for a game for more than ten years, and I'd have to go back another ten to count a second game at Beaver stadium. (And I barely know what all this tweedle-dee tweedle-doo stuff is.)

So, I'm hoping for your suggestions on how to make the most of the visit and the game experience for my family.

We fortunately have a place to stay since my folks still live in S.C.

But I have lots of other questions:

I don't have tickets yet (need 5 or 6). Any suggestions where to try to sit? I would expect it to be sunny and hot, so maybe that's a factor? And where and how might I get tickets?
I'd like to get the boys up close to the players. How do we do that? Hang out near the entrance to the tunnel? When does the team come through there? After, would we still have time to get to our seats for the Blue Band entrance? Or is there a better idea?
For a noon game when do all the pre-game activities (like the band entrance) start?
Would the Friday rally be interesting for kids?
Are there a lot of obnoxious drunk foul-mouthed a-holes that I need to worry about trying to avoid?
Any other suggestions of things to do our see on our visit?
We'll try to get to the Creamery sometime, but we'll probably avoid the crowds on Saturday.

From the ESPN Big Ten Blog:
"Also, Paterno will have his injured hip examined by doctors this week, most likely Wednesday. He hopes to receive any necessary treatment, including surgery, immediately after the season so he can 'get on the road and go out and recruit.'

In other words, Paterno has no plans to step down after the season."

Things I'd like to see

I've been looking forwards to this week's game ever since the final whistle of the destruction of Wisconsin.
I admit it; I was the one looking past UM; sorry about that.

Anyway, without further ado, a list of ten things I'd like to see:

I’d like to see Royster with 200 rushing yards;
-- but I’d settle for him maintaining his YPC average.
I’d like to never hear or read Chris Wells’ nickname again;
-- but I’d settle for seeing him shut down by the PSU defense.
I’d like to see Clark with 300 yards total offense;
-- but I’d settle for seeing the Clark Trophy pose again after a TD against Ohio State.
I’d like to see Maybin sack Pyror and force a fumble;
-- but I’d settle for Maybin sacking him for 20 yard loss.
I’d like to see Williams take the opening kick-off to the house;
-- but settle for him not fumbling any kick returns.
I’d like to see Laurinaitis pancaked repeatedly;
-- but I’d settle for watching him jump on the pile to pad his stats eight to ten yards downfield.
I’d like to see Evans, Maybin, Odrick, Gains, Hull, Bowman, Mauti, Astorino, Scirrotto, Davis, and the rest of the defense share Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week award;
-- but I’d settle for Hull having a good day.
I’d like to see Pryor in the post-game interview apologizing to the Ohio State boosters who have been "incredibly generous and the reason I came to the University of Ohio State;"
-- but I’d settle for seeing a post-game interview with the winning QB, Daryll Clark.
I’d like to see PSU win the MNC;
-- but I’d settle for an undefeated season and a bowl victory.
I’d like to see at the end of the game, a choir of angels descending from heaven and saying to Joe Paterno, "you have served so well we hearby grant you a 43 year contract extension." Then, after the angels disappear in a flash of light like the explosion of a thousand suns, when everyone’s vision begins to clear they see Joe as he was at 39 years of age just like his first season as head coach;
-- but I’d settle for Joe getting his hip fixed in the off season and seeing him run out the tunnel again in 2009.
