Behind the Steel Curtain 35-7??? Heads Need To Roll!

Are you kidding me? The lowly Bungles and we only beat them by 28 points?? What a joke. The Rooney's should be embarrassed having their name associated to that abysmal team Mike Tomlin (who needs to go by the way) fielded on Sunday. We can only expect worse from this point and quite honestly...I'm ready to jump off the wagon!

Speechless. It's not a tear, but certainly worth worrying about. Might explain why he's been somewhat quiet.

Behind the Steel Curtain Where's The Love From The Jungle For Coach Dad?? **UPDATED**

I didn't want to make this a FanShot because it wouldn't get the proper attention.  I checked the Cincy Bungle Jungle for a little shout out (at least) to coach Dad, and found nothing.  Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't see one post or shot that gives any sort of acknowledgement to a man that just made the HOF that spent 16-17 years with that God forsaken organization?  Are they that consumed with themselves that they can't even pause to appreciate such a guy?

History is history.  A guy like Dick LeBeau deserves some type of appreciation from them.  I don't even see anything on the official Bengals website.

Sorry gang, this is a rant type post....wave if you want, but this really pisses me off.

**UPDATE**

worldtrip took the liberty of finding an article on the Bengals website that does in fact honor LeBeau.  Here it is:

Behind the Steel Curtain HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHEWIE

Figured it wouldn't get the proper amount of attention if I made this a FanShot.  Happy Birthday brother, friend, neighbor, brochacho, bromano, broheim and ahole.  What better way to celebrate your birthday than to poast pictures of you.  Enjoy.

Behind the Steel Curtain Six, count'em six, things that annoy me (Highway Edition)

Just continuing to shake things up until training camp.  I'm not a miserable person, but I do find certain things annoy me from time to time...pet peeves in various aspects of daily life.  First up....on the road.  Please chime in with your own or even bash me for being a Johnny_S Negative Nancy:

Behind the Steel Curtain Exactly what does "grow up" mean?

I keep hearing and reading about how Ben is immature, needs to grow up, is completely irresponsible, needs to make better decisions, etc, etc.  That was my knee jerk reaction to all this as well, but now I'm beginning to think it's an unfair assessment.  This is no BB a$$ kissing or Steelers-can-do-no-wrong type bull.  I'm being very objective when I say it's unfair to paint him in this way.  If it turns out he did do something wrong, then all bets are off here (and he would then deserve all the criticism in the world), but for the time being, let's assume it was your everyday hookup.  Here me out.

Niners Nation Question from Behind The Steel Curtain

Greetings everyone.  Just want to get the word on the street on Al Everest who we just hired as our ST coordinator.  Given our last one, anything is an improvement, but I'm hearing mixed reviews.  Will he be missed?  Why did he get fired?  Strengths?  Weaknesses?  Apparently his decision making has been questioned...any examples?  Any light you can shed would be much appreciated by us folk at BTSC.  Thanks guys and good luck in your offseason.

Behind the Steel Curtain Why are you a Steelers fan?

I've been listening to a lot of Philly sports radio lately.  Actually, I listen to it more often than not throughout the year as I am a Flyers and Sixers fan.  But lately, I find myself drawn to all the Eagles talk about who needs to be fired and whose fault certain losses can be pinned on and who's going to start screaming for more money (cough, DeSean Jackson, cough).  I openly admit that it's therapeutic to listen to all this as it eases the sting of the end of our season.  Realizing that another team has it worse helps me put things into perspective.

Last week on the Mike Missanelli show on 97.5 The Fanatic, he was calling all Dallas fans in the Philly area frauds as they didn't actually live in Dallas.  I figured it was mostly stirring the pot due to the bitter rivalry, but then someone called in and asked if he considered Steelers fans frauds pointing out how well they "travel".  To my surprise, he labeled all those Steeler fans the same.  Honestly I think he's trying more and more these days to be like Howard Eskin (if you don't know who I'm talking about he's the most hated radio personality in the area), therefore my dislike for this guy grows.  He's turning into a real crumb.  It really ticked me off, but I decided not to call in because there's no talking to these people out here - not much objectivity.

So I instead decided to channel my anger into thinking about why it is I'm a Steelers fan.  I get the question from time to time and I usually respond by talking about my parents being from Western PA and growing up with them cheering the hell out of the Steelers.  Some people still discard that as a bogus reason and label me a frontrunner or say I can't think for myself - probably out of jealousy.  Next time I'm asked, I'll have this printed out and maybe it will be a worthy explanation.

Behind the Steel Curtain Steeler (and related) videos

I just came across this video on youtube and thought you guys would get a kick. It's a couple years old, but i think it's hysterical.  Feel free to add links to your favorite vids...or not.  And since I need a few more words in this post to make it valid, I'll proceed to say nothing of any real import - for example, Bengals, Ravens, Chad Johnson, Who Dey, Ray Ray....

It's Polamalu

Behind the Steel Curtain Remember The Titans

Hats off to the Bengals for a well-planned & executed victory yesterday.  You deserve the win as we certainly did plenty to warrant the opposite.  Fortunately, I can get over this loss.  The season is just over halfway complete and there is a lot of ball to be had.  With 7 games left, we sit 2 games behind the division and hold a WC birth.  If we don't win the division, we should still get that WC.  However, I'm not going to convince myself that this loss doesn't hurt.

As expected, the trolls have invaded our air-space.  Some of you have been respectful and others are just stirring the pot.  To the latter, mind your words.  I know you guys are beside yourselves that you've just swept the season series.  However, be forewarned.  There is a good chance we will meet again in the post season.  I can guaran-damn-tee that we'll be frothing at the mouths for that one.  Just like we would have been had we met the Titans last year in the playoffs.  This win means jack squat come playoff time.  You guys are having a 2008 Titan-esque season.  Seems you have an easy road (on paper) the rest of the way so I'm guessing you'll get a bye in the playoffs.  Hopefully all the watching TV playoff experience will pay off for you guys come divisionals....

Go ahead, say what you will and celebrate as much as you want...

Behind the Steel Curtain We need a nickname (version 2)

I've heard a few nicknames for Rashard get thrown around during his short tenure, but nothing has seemed to stick.  I think maybe with his break-out performance last night, the talks of a worthy nickname should begin.  After seeing his mug shot several times, I've decided that he looks like some sort of lizard with those eyes.  My brother Dave, my buddy Mike and I had a brief discussion on it.  I like "Salamander", however Mike liked "Iguana".  Your thoughts?  Feel free to add especially if I missed some existing ones...

Version 2:  Added a few suggestions and one glaring omission...
