Pisa Tinoisamoa
Any interest? Pisa Tinoisamoa , leading tackler for the Rams last year, 6’1", 240 lbs, 27 y/o? Would we show any interest in him? It would be difficult not to at least look into it considering his size and age for an inside LB position. Just a thought
TO and MBIII for LT
Real quick, I'm not an advocate for the possibility but it's an interesting study. It does not appear LT and the Chargers are moving towards a satisfactory resolution.
Jerry Jones is not one to make decisions necessarily in the best interest for the Cowboys, long term. I would hate to think that JJ would be willing to trade MBIII straight up for LT but is it possible?
From the Cowboys perspective which always means from JJ perspective, LT just entered the Texas HOF. I don't think anyone believes he is completely done. The argument could be made that LT is no more susceptible to injury than MBII(based on running style). JJ has a brand new 1.3 billion dollar stadium that he needs to fill up and I don't think he is selling tickets based on the hapless coaching staff he kept. He also lost the most polarizing figure in, perhaps, in NFL history.
From the Chargers perspective, Darren Sproles cannot carry the ball 20-25 times at 5'6" nothing. MBIII would be the perfect compliment to Sproles and again, MBIII with his running style is no more susceptible to injury at his age than LT.
Thoughts?
My rambling is for all of you
I haven't been a member of this site for very long and , in fact, have never blogged before I joined. I have noticed if you get enough people with their own opinions the greater good tends to get lost in the minutia. I have been as guilty as the next person(CowboyRnumba1) and for that I apologize. We are all here for the same reason and that is to vent with our opinions about what needs to happen for the Cowboys to win another one.
My ramblings begin now. I apologize for the ramblings but we are a very small % of fans that are willing to talk about the Boys in freakin' February and I love it.
I do not care about the perception of players brought in and their character. Trust me, noone else does either if we won another SB. I am criticized for rooting for the helmet and the jersey but I accept that. I want to win at all costs and morals have no room in that.
There is room to question JJ’s decisions if they do not win. That is where we are now. Bringing in the Tank’s and Pacman’s of the world was bad choice only in hindsight. If they had won a SB this year the Cowboy fans wouldn’t care and the haters would sit there seething.
But everything is cyclical it seems. JJ takes criticism for the character of players so he doesn’t draft Randy Moss. He then has a team stacked with talent after hiring Parcells and he goes out and gets questionable character guys to try to get them over the top and it didn’t work.
He’s trying everything and that’s what I want from an owner. But he deserves the criticism he’s getting right now and I believe it’s because he isn;t making decisions that ultimately win a championship. I joined this blog to voice my disdain for Wade and becaue of the lack of focus and direction with this organization he doesn’t even make the front page here. He’s an afterthought because Jerry hired him and remains obstinate keeping him here. But Jerry hired him to do a job which he has failed miserably at and he should receive the criticism for that instead of JJ taking the heat for hiring him.
The fans that booed TO are not real fans and they are an embarrassment to everyone on this site. They provide the Cowboy stereotype used by all haters but I will never be associated with them. Stay strong, voice your opinion but don’t lose sight of the objective, winning at all costs

The admission has been made, who's next?
Regardless of whether you were on board with Reeves's hiring or not, the cat is out of the bag. Jerry, in some capacity, has admitted that there are changes that need to be made and, apparently, changes that cannot be made with the current personnel in their current roles.
When TC rolls around and they have not replaced the role Dan Reeves was going to take on, the questions will be numerous. Who took over Reeves's role, how were the changes that needed to be made handled internally if noone else was hired, etc etc etc.
I think they have no other choice but to find another doormat for JJ to wipe his feet on and take on a role Reeves was not comfortable with. I believe this position is a one year position regardless of the length of the contract signed. Who fits this criteria?
Troy Polamalu vs Roy Williams
Just real quick. Interceptions are almost identical with Roy being in the league 1 more year than Polamalu. What is it about the Steelers defensive scheme or the player that makes Polamalu more effective than Williams?
Please correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think Polamalu is head and shoulders better in coverage than Williams. So why is it Polamalu seems to have continued to increase production and effectiveness where Williams seems to have digressesd? I assume it's the speed Polamalu has compared to Williams but I wanted some feedback.
Unnamed sources
I have had some lively debates surrounding the use of unnamed sources and wanted to expand it.
I e-mailed Calvin Watkins after his story about the chaos surrounding the Cowboys this year and his use of 5 unnamed sources. I basically questioned him about the accuracy of his story. Example, he reported the charter was late in leaving to away games 5 of the 8 times this year due to players showing up late. I then heard reports from Mickey that two of those were weather-related and one was mechanical. Now that doesn't explain the other two but that's not what I want to discuss.
I asked Calvin why he didn't use quotes from his 5 unnamed sources to somewhat validate that these "sources" actually exist. He states the DMN had a policy that unnamed sources would not be quoted. I asked him if that was to protect the writer or the source, he replied it was to protect both. It was very vague but I appreciated the response. However, I do not understand how the use of quotes from an unnamed source jeopardizes the anonymity of that source. Maybe someone can enlighten me.
There will be discussion about how sources are validated based on the player being reported on, I get that. I want everyone's opinion interested when you believe an unnamed source is credited with accuracy.
Al Davis, Jr?
It's a scary proposition but one, nonetheless, I have been forced to consider. Have we found an end to what Jerry would do to win at all costs?
I have defended Jerry Jones because I believed he would do anything to win. I believed this because I had seen over again and over again risky decisions made. I don't expect them all to work out. I want an owner who will at least try. From hiring a college coach to signing Deion, Charles Haley, T.O., Pacman, the list goes on. Some he hits with, some he doesn't. The pattern I am seeing is when his ego overrides football decisions.
We all know he has an ego but I would like that ego to be relegated solely to being seen and not heard and not bleeding over in to the day-to-day operations of this team. The first time I found myself wanting Jerry Jones to shut up was after hearing him question whether MBIII should or should not be playing because of his toe. It didn't matter to me if the media misconstrued what he said, just shut up. If you don't say anything there's nothing to misconstrue. Is there another owner or GM that is quoted on player's injury status you can think of? I can think of one.
The pattern over the last 20 years has been a certain level of success with strong-minded and successful coaches followed by Jerry attempting to take over what those coaches accomplished. Jimmy Johnson built the 90's Cowboys and Jerry's ego decides he can win with Switzer and did thanks to hall of famers at each offensive skill position. I still believe we win 4 in a row with Johnson and without a referee hip-check by Switzer in the '94 NFC championship game. Bill Parcells took over an organization with 3 straight 5-11 seasons. He was able to coach that same team to the playoffs his first year and built the talent base over the course of the rest. Then Parcells leaves and Jerry hires a "player's coach" and a "yes man". He has never had any level of success with one of those. You would have thought he would have learned.
I defended Jerry for the longest time because I have seen him back off and let football guys take care of football stuff. Those are sound organizational decisions yet he continues to fall back in to old habits seemingly due to his own ego. I can only hope it does not get worse with age as with you know who.

You don't have to replace T.O. if he leaves
You can't replace him although he seems to be on the decline. But where he is now is better than 95% of all receivers out there.
The issue with T.O. is the lack of team in his vocabulary and that would be why you let him go, just to quiet the locker room down a little.
The main reason you can let him go should be Romo's inability to protect the ball. With our O-line built for run blocking more than pass protection and three good backs, we should be running the ball more next year. The decreases the amount of dropbacks for Romo and, consequently, the number of interceptions and fumbles(I believe he had a hand in 23 of the 33 turnovers we had this year).
See what the Giants are doing with their three backs and no Plaxico? I hate comparing what we should do next year to what the Giants are doing this year but I hate losing more.
Holmgren 4-12, Wade ?-? Let this sink in
Does anyone else see a similarity to the Seahawks this year and what we have to look forward to next year? Homgren is being talked about as a replacement for Wade in 2010 so he is considered a better coach then the Hillbilly Clown, right?
Holmgren made it known he was not returning at the beginning of this year and look at the Seahawk's season. JJ stated we lack continuity if you fire a coach after two years and wants to give the Hillbilly Clown a third year to get smarter(are you kidding me?). The only way Hillbilly is not a lame duck coach is if there's talk of a possible extension after '09. Has anyone heard anything about an extension? Me neither. it's futile to discuss an extension if the Hillbilly Clown doesn't have the tools to be a mediocre head coach, save a good one.
Can you imagine a season in which all coaches and players know the head coach cannot effectively do his job AND is a lame duck? That's what we have to look forward to.
It's very frustrating for me as a fan to see the fingers point in every direction from special teams, to Romo, to the offensive line, etc... because I agree with all of those. But, if you are pointing fingers in all these directions, this means we have no direction. Wade needs to be fired in '08 or we can write off '09. It's almost as if JJ is okay with waiting for failure next year before making a change where it's needed, AT HEAD COACH!!. The only way I put up with the decision not to fire Hillbilly this year is you guarantee Cowher in 2010.
A campaign to fire the Hillbilly Clown?
Why are people giving the Hillbilly Clown credit for a defensive turnaround? He was responsible for the defense needing a turnaround and hiring Brian Stewart and then taking 7 weeks to realize the man he hired was a poor choice.
Remember, we are not critiquing Hillbilly Clown as a defensive coordinator, we are critiquing his miserable attempt as a head coach who neither demands or commands respect from anyone he comes in contact with(see the Pepsi yawning commercial). He is an embarrassment.
Play a game with me. How many current head coaches would you take to replace the Hillbilly Clown? You can consider the three that have been fired today as well. My count is 30. The only coach I don't give a chance to is Romeo. Everyone else I consider smarter and more disciplined then the Hillbilly Clown.
How do you not have a team ready to play after knowing for a week you were given a reprieve and you win you're in? They were not ready to play.
Blame JJ if you want but he has had success with coaching hires in the past and they were never with "player's coaches" who don't hold their players accountable since they are all the Hillbilly Clown's mistakes. If you do exactly what the Hillybilly Clown wants you to do and blame him for all mistakes, have we not seen enough of them this year to warrant a firing squad, forget the firing?
Something to learn from the Tuna. He knew each player needed something different. Gurode and Flozell needed a kick in the ass to keep their minds focused as an example. The Hillbilly Clown would rather take the lazy coaching approach and handle everyone the same and each player is accountable to the other players and blah blah blah. Human nature is to take the easy way if tested and there are exceptions to that rule. However, on a team with 53 individuals you are ging to have some that need you in their face. Hillbilly Clown will not do that.
He should have fired the special teams coach after last year's playoff game because special teams hasn't been a problem just this year.
True Cowboy fans need to take responsibility and get JJ's attention the only way he will hear it, through his pocketbook. Fire Wade or lose money, your choice.
