Purple Row My offseason Rockies wishlist

Please read all of it before passing judgement
Rockies trade Brad Hawpe to the Mets for Bobby Parnnell RHRP & A.Pagan OF

Rockies trade H.Street & Pagan to the Mets plus 2 million in 10 & 11 to the Rangers.
Cubs trade Milton Bradley along with 3.5 million in 10 & 4.5 in 11 to the Rangers. Plus Sean Marshall RHRP & C.Carpenter RHSP AA to the Rockies.
Rangers trade Brandon McCarthy to the Rockies.

Figuring Street would cost @7 million this year + 18 for Hawpe equals 25 million - 4 million to the Rangers...........Rockies save 21 million over the next 2 years.

Rockies sign Mark Hendrickson LHRP

Rockies lineup CF Fowler B, RF CarGo L, 1st Helton L, SS Tulo R, 3rd Stewart L, LF Smith L, 2nd Barmes R, C Iannetta R

rotation Jiminez, Cook, B. McCarthy, JDLR & Hammel

bullpen Bentancourt RH, Daley RH, Parnnell RH 7th, Marshall RH long relief, Hendrickson LH & Morales as closer

AAA rotation E.Rogers, J.Chacin, J.Francis, S.Deduno & G.Smith with Buchholz working out of the pen and Corpus as the closer

AA rotation C.Fedrich, C.Carpenter & G.Reynolds start out the rotation.

This SHOULD leave us in a position to trade a player like A.Cook or prospects if needed at the deadline to improve the team at another position plus we would the cash to make the move......Brandon Phillips comes to mind!! It also leaves us in a position to replinish any injured pitchers that we typically loose throughout the year, while allowing pitchers that where out an entire year (Francis, Buchholz, Smith, Reynolds and you could include Corpus in this) time to rehab and rebuild arm strength, control and endurance.

Cubs are actively looking for a new CF and bullpen help if not a closer upgrade, while trying to trade Bradley. This trade does all of that. For the Rangers.....it's gets them Bradley for McCarthy while not paying much. Exactly what they want.

I would actually prefer the Rockies sent Spilborghs to the Cubs, as I think Pagan has more value. That said by including Pagan into the deal we could end up with even more than I had stated in return.

Purple Row just for fun trade question

If the Rockies decided they don't have what it would take this year and decided to make some big moves would you be ok with these TYPE trades PLEASE NOTE: NAMES PROVIDED ARE FOR SUGGESTED USE ONLY. Optional player suggestions are WELCOMED. Your welcome to chose 1, none or any multiple as well.

Hawpe & Torreabla to Boston for Buchholz and J.Reddick RF/AA OR Tampa for W.Davis RHP, M.Moore LHP AA & D.Jennings CF/AA

Marquis to the Rangers for D.Holland LHP & M.Perez LHP/A

Spilborghs & Barmes to the Twins for Carlos Gomez, Wilson Ramos C/AA & L.Hindriks RHP/A

Based on that right now our team would be (taking the Rays deal over the Red Sox)

1st Helton, 2nd EY2, SS Tulo, 3rd Stewart, RF CarGo, CF Fowler, LF CarGomez, C Iannetta

rotation Cook, Jiminez, Hammel, Davis, DLR

Holland goes to the BP.

THESE ARE NOT SUGGESTED TRADES, I am only trying to gauge what everyone thinks of Rockies players worth....nothing more.

Purple Row Rockies and Reds trade idea

Reds have money coming off the books next year, I believe in the neighborhood of 15 million

Arthur Rhodes can be had IMO. David Weather is a FA after this year and could be had as well. They combined are owed @2.4 still this year but Rhodes is also due 2 million next year.

Reds are known to want a 3rd and SS........Barmes isn't going anywhere but Atkins is owed about 2.7 still.

Now I know that Atkins for those 2 wouldn't work but I wonder what else it would take?

And for those of you saying Atkins is too valuable to this team......Rhodes would give us a quality LH arm in the pen and Weathers would become our setup man, as he is lights out on the road this year.

Any thoughts or am I way off line?

Purple Row Being reported Hirsh traded to Yankees....

Rox girl should love this one.........for a PTBNL.

http://twitter.com/TylerKepner/status/2917170349

I wonder if the move gives the Rockies any finacial flex to go make another move for a lefty that we need so badly?

ALSO, for anyone that hasn't noticed a couple of the Rockies 2009 draft picks are playing in the minors already including Rex Brothers........who I may add is doing very well even if only at the rookie ball level.

Purple Row owners say no more money

According to a report on FOXSports.com, the Rockies are struggling in their search to find another southpaw to complement Franklin Morales.

The Rockies are having a hard time finding pitching at a reasonable cost, both talent-wise and financially, after taking on the $1.1 million due to Rafael Betancourt last week. That is a pretty sad statement of the Rockies. We are in the thick of a playoff chase and the owners can't pony up a little bit of cash? You want more fans to come to games, show more of a dedication to winning. I'm not saying overpay for anyone.......but come on man. Next thing you know we will be hearing how we have become sellers.

Purple Row Trading Brad Hawpe (read before you go nuts)

This is not a suggestion to trade Hawpe. This is simply a ponderence of what we could get if we did trade Hawpe.  OR IN OTHER WORDS something to talk about.

Holliday was traded for a A+ prospect and 2 B prospects with only the rest of the year on his contract. Halladay is supposedly going to fetch the Jays 1 current starter in JA Happ, 1 blue chip pitcher in Drabeck, 1 blue chip OF in Brown or Donald AND Lou Marson a top catching prospect.  Or basically 4 blue chip guys with 1 proving it at MLB level in Happ.

That got me thinking with the Rays current need to a hitter and a RF would be a nice add for them WHAT IF we where offered this deal or one similar......

Rays get: Brad Hawpe, DLR & Alan Johnson AAA from the Rockies

Angels get: Scott Kazmir from the Rays, Matt Miller OF AAA and cash from the Rockies

Rockies get: Wade Davis RHSP AAA, Jeremy Hellickson RHSP AAA & Matt Moore LHSP A of the Rays  but we also got Jordan Walden RHSP AA, Peter Bourjos CF AA & Will Smith LHSP A from the Angels.

Davis could be added to the rotation from day 1. Hellickson, Walden and Bourjos could all contribute next year. What about RF you ask........Matt Murton, Seth Smith, Ryan Spilborghs or what about moving CarGo to RF and letting EY2 play LF?? That would be an excellent defensive OF with tons of speed.

It's only a question........but I think if we where offered something like that I would have to take it.

rotation Cook, Jiminez, Marquis, Davis, Hammel

AAA rotation Hellickson, Chacin, Rogers, Greg Smith LH & Hynick

AA rotation Walden, Smith LH, Moore LH, Roe, Frederich LH

Not to mention it would give us payroll flexability with 7 million of Marquis coming off the books and Brad Hawpe's & Torrealba's contracts gone as well.  Oh don't forget we also have Jeff Francis and Greg Reynolds who are both on the DL this year.

Does this take us out of the playoff race this year? Maybe, maybe not........but I think it puts us in contention for the World Series next year.

Purple Row Zach Minor of Detroit would be a great fit for us.

LHP with experience as a starter and reliever. Can't pitch in Detroit but is darn good away from there. Is only 27 and not making much yet.

Tigers  shouldn't want a ton in return for him. Could be a great bullpen arm for us this year and get a shot as a starter with us next.

The guy isn't a power pitcher at all but gets groundballs all day, that's the kind of guy we need to add IMO.

Purple Row Spilborghs to Philly? Not a rumor yet....

Rumor has it Philly has interest in sending Kyle Kendrick to Washington for Josh Willingham.........why in the world the Rockies wouldn't offer up Ryan Spilborghs to get Kendrick is beyond me. It would be a better fit for both teams as well.

The move may not improve the MLB roster immediately but it would be an upgrade move for us. At some point we would have a AAA rotation that included Kendrick, Brandon Hynick, Greg Smith and Greg Reynolds.
