Japanese team used Dice-K's posting fee for plush potties

Since things have gotten a little heated on the site the last couple of days, I thought everyone could use a good laugh.

Apparently, the Seibu Lions used much of the $51 million posting fee they received from the Red Sox to improve their stadium, once one of the worst in Japan. Now they have some of the nicest bathrooms in the country and apparently that is important in Japan. Wonder what they think of the bathrooms at Wrigley when Japanese tourists come to see Fukudome?

Say, to raise money to renovate Wrigley, who do you propose the Cubs "post" to a Japanese team?

If anyone is planning on buying tickets for Cubs vs Brewers games, Milwaukee is offering a lottery for opening day (vs Cubs) and "Marquee games" which includes both Cub and White Sox dates.

The lottery allows fans who "win" to purchase tickets for these select dates before all of the single game tickets go on sale.

You can register until Feb. 17th. The drawing will be on Feb 20th (my B-Day) and emails will be sent out by Feb. 23rd notifying anyone entering the lottery.

The date and time the tickets will be on sale for lottery winners will be included in the email sent to the "winners."

Free agency after 4 years?

Bruce Miles mentioned an interesting idea at the end of his blog today.

"LINK":http://blogs.dailyherald.com/node/1267

He suggested doing away with the arbitration process and have players become free agents after 4 years. I haven't heard this suggestion before and I am intrigued.

What's in it for the owners? The free agent pool would be larger, thus the possibility of driving down the price (supply and demand theory, I imagine).

What's in it for the players? They would get to cash in on a long term contract 2 years earlier.

I was wondering everyone's thoughts on Bruce's suggestion.

Also, does anyone else have any creative suggestions? Remember to have any chance of being implemented; both sides (players and owners) would have to benefit from the change.
