Hey guys, Chiefs fan here, just wanting to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving! Be safe on Black Friday, now there is a contact sport!

I guess we have you guys next. With Denver, it's like the book, A tale of two cities, "it was the best of times, it was the worst of times" from 6-0, through 4 straight losses, to beating the G-men, I mean dominating the G-men, making them look like the Browns, j/k dogpound, anyway this is a weird season that we haven't had a KC-Denver game yet. It's been rough being a KC fan this year, but after knocking off the Super Bowl Champions, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Anyway, really just wanted to say congrats on a great win! Happy Turkey Day! And good luck catching the Lightning Bolts for the Division!

Looking forward to a good game on Sunday, obviously, Chris Chambers vs. his old team will get a ton of attention. Jamaal Charles wanting to be like Darren Sproles and LT, should be of interest. How bout that high powered Charger Offense? LT seems like the LT of old. Is this kid Studebaker, from a tiny Division III school for real? Or is the ol' Studebaker gonna run out of gas (Haley calls him Venice Beach by the way) - great kid. Denver looked great tonight, so the Bolts can't let up!

After reading the post about the Chiefs depth chart, I got to thinking, we're 1-6, unless we can run the table, which isn't likely, to make these games at least entertaining for us fans, we need to be seeing some of the young players that will be playing next year.

So, even if LJ stays on the roster, the older veterans, like him, Goff, Waters, Vrabel (probably our best non special teams player this year), Mike Brown, McGraw, etc., should take a back seat and fill more of a mentor role. Now, I still want to see Vrabel, Waters, McGraw, etc. on the field, but the young guys need more playing time, now.

I went through the depth chart, and with an eye on developing for next year, made some changes. I utilized the practice squad heavily, even bringing in A.Q. Shipley from Pittsburgh's practice squad. Thanks for the idea Tomahawk44 http://www.arrowheadpride.com/2009/10/27/1103472/steal-shipley-from-the-steelers.

I didn't really address Tight End and Quarterback, because I don't know what Haley/Pioli's thoughts are in the direction they would eventually like to go in either position. I assume Cassel is here to stay, and hope we see last year's Matt Cassel soon! Anyway, what are your thoughts?

It's kind of funny that even though the Vince Lombardi coached Green Bay Packers played the Dallas Texans, the Dallas Cowboys never did.

OK, actually that was a Dallas Texans team that didn't make it. Eight years later though, Dallas was ready to support a professional football team.

The Dallas Texans were by far the more popular team in town in Dallas, and heaven forbid, if the Cowboys would lose to them. So, the game that should have been, never was, because the inevitable would have rocked the establishment. Check out these links for some interesting AFL history:

In 1960, Lamar Hunt attempted to get an expansion team in Dallas. The NFL said "No." On the plane ride back from his meeting with the NFL, he realized there were others wanting an expansion team, why not form another league? And the AFL was born, along with the Dallas Texans, and the "foolish club" of other AFL owners.

Well, the NFL could not sit idly by, and let this other league grow, so, they granted an expansion team in Dallas to get back at Lamar for rocking the establishment. The Dallas Cowboys were born. The Texans were by far the better of the two teams, and the Cowboys were so afraid that they would lose to the Texans that even though Lamar frequently asked for a game between the two teams, he was always rebuffed. Heaven forbid, an NFL team would lose to the lowly AFL, no matter how bad that NFL team was. The ownership groups were both based on oil money, and the town was split along company loyalty lines.

In 1962, Lamar's Texans were losing $1 Million per year. Someone complained to Lamar's father that he was such a bad businessman. His father said, "Yea, at the rate he is going, he can only last another 100 years." Even so, Lamar was a businessman and saw that two teams could not succeed in Dallas, so after the Texans beat the Houston Oilers in the longest (at that time) game in history to claim the AFL title, he moved the team to Kansas City, where they became the Chiefs. If he would have stayed and forced the Cowboys out of business, history would be entirely different than it is today. Not only would the Cowboys have gone under, but most of the AFL teams would have gone under as well. Lamar "took one for the team," so to speak, and it paid off.

Since the Dallas Cowboys only exist because the NFL wanted to stick it to Lamar Hunt, since Priest Holmes, the greatest Running Back in Chiefs history is having his retirement ceremony this Sunday, since Nick Lowry, the best kicker of his era (no waterboy commments, please), is being inducted into the Chiefs Hall of Fame, since most of the great Chiefs will be on hand to witness this game, and the Chiefs faithful is desperate for a win, come on we are better than 2-26 or whatever, how badly do you want to see the Cowboys get what they so deserve...

I've never understood how anyone that knows this history could actually root for the Cowboys, or how anyone could root for the Ravens after Art Modell so rudely screwed the fans in Cleveland. Anyway, it is the game that never was. It was a dream of the late Lamar Hunt. Here's to KC, or Dallas, or the Chiefs, or the Texans, rising to the next level, for the fans, for the City, and for the Hunt family!

Is Haley trying to create the right identity?

It seemed like every time KC got the ball against Philly, I said it's first down, LJ is going to get the ball up the middle. I couldn't believe how consistently predictable it had gotten. I was shocked to find out that Haley was doing the "do it again until you get it right" routine, because I thought Cassel has the skills to throw the ball to get us back in the game.

This kind of reminds me of a game I played in junior high. We kicked off, and the opponent ran it back for a touchdown. The coach was so mad that he made us kick again, instead of receive, and said he was going to keep kicking it until we got it right.

I realize that Haley said he would be happy to win with three yards and a cloud of dust, the problem is that's the stats for the whole first half. I understand all of that doing it the "right" way, but what if it isn't the right way for this team? Does this really look like a Marty Schottenheimer, huge O-Line, with huge Running Backs, with nicknames like the Nigerian Nightmare, type of team? It seems to me the personnel is not suited for the smash mouth approach and that Charles has proven himself to be deserving of starting based on his performance thus far.

Savage seems to be the ideal third down back. With speed and quickness, and fight. That run he made in the preseason was ALL fight. That's the attitude this team needs.

Well, what about LJ? It's the O-lines fault he hasn't broken off big runs, right? Well, I say the opponent needs to be loosened up with Charles runs, passes over the middle, etc. Once the defense is on their heels, bring in LJ to pound the rock. Use him like the Cowboys used to use Marion Barber when the had Julius Jones starting. He would be ideal in the short yardage and goal-line situations, and 4th quarter against worn down defenses.
