The Slipper Still Fits GU Alums covers NBA draft for FoxSports

Just wanted to give a shout out to GU alum Seth Sommerfeld for his great coverage of the NBA draft on foxsports net. Seth did part of the pick-by-pick coverage. So we may not of heard a GU name mentioned on draft night, but Gonzaga did okay its part in the NBA draft this year. From one GU alum to another I just wanted to say congrats and keep up the good work.

{Seth since I know you post on SSF I should tell you I actually saw it on NBAdraft.net and randomly thought, hey i know that guy)

The Slipper Still Fits WCC tiebreakers?

Does anyone know how the WCC decides the tiebreakers for the regular season standings. I assume that it is something like,

1. Conference Record

2. Head-to-Head Record

3. ??

The reason I ask is because I was thinking it would actually benefit St. Mary's to play an extra game in Vegas at this point, as far as their at large hopes are concerned. And if you look they are tied in the lose column to Portland and have split their season series. Additionally, they have lost to each other by 5 points in both of those games so if the tiebreaker is margin of victory then that won't decide it either. Not that St. Mary's has much of a chance at an at large birth at this point, I was curious if anyone knew the rules on this particular situation.

The Slipper Still Fits NCAA tournament sites

So I was looking to find out what the NCAA tourny sites were so I could plan a trip and I noticed that Spokane is a site. I can only assume that it would be in Spokane Arena because that is where it was held a few years back. My question is what is the rule on whether a team can play on there "home" court in the tourny. I was under the impression it is if you play two or more games in the site then you may not play there during the tourny. Anyways if anyone knows the rule specifically that would be interesting. Also, if so do we play more then two games in the spokane arena because I think there is a chance if we get a highish seed we could play in Spokane for the tourny which would be a huge benefit (also really cool experience for anyone who goes, i was in Portland last year and it was amazing, so I can't imagine what spokane would be like).

The Slipper Still Fits WCC opening night

Im curious to hear what everyone else things, because from the looks of things the WCC had a strong performance on the first night of games for most of the country. San Diego went out and beat Stanford, USF and SCU all went out and won games. Brandon Johnson looked healthy. Lowhorn looks like he might have a little help this year. Even Pepperdine took a quality opponent to double overtime. But the most impressive game of the night has to be St. Mary's. They came out and beat up a quality NMSU team that was above 500 in a reasonable conference last year. They had some guys really step up and if this is any sign of things to come they might not have as down a year as people think. Losing Patty Mills and Simpson hurt, but if Ben Allen is a serviceable big man and this kid Delladova (who quite frankly I watched play at the FIBA U19's for Austrailia and was not overly impressed) can provide some play making then this team can battle for second in the conference. I think it would be really good for the WCC if we can have GU, Portland, USD, and SMC all playing well this season. Could make for some fun basketball. Anyways these are just my opinions wondering what everyone else thinks. Can't wait for the GU game tonight and for that matter I am looking forward to the Portland game this afternoon.

The Slipper Still Fits Who loses scholarship?

Now that we know Bol Kong is playing, we have to re-open the question of who loses the scholarship. Hopefully I am mistaken, but doesn't Bol leave us with one too many scholarship players? My opinion is that if we had to take a scholarship away it would have to be Will. I like Will and it IS his senior year, but it obviously wouldn't be any of the new guys and all the other upperclassmen are integral parts of the team. Maybe Gibbs, though I would like to see him in action before we make a decision on him. Anyways, any thoughts, and if I am wrong about the number of scholarships please tell me.
