Vontaze Burfict
So with the draft coming up and our transition back to a 4-3 has got me thinking. I know we were going into this draft looking for a OLB/DE pass rusher and now it looks more evident that we may be leaning towards finding your prototypical 4-3 DE. Problem is, I don't see one at #10 worth taking a shot on at all. If we stay, I would be very content with taking one of the top Tackles, considering one will be there and they all seem to be very solid prospects. Locking up one of the most important positions in football for the next 10 years seems to be a good idea. However...
If we go the route of pass rusher we need to trade down. I know we probably won't, but there is no one worth taking at 10. The only player I would take at 10 is Upshaw. Upshaw is going to be a solid player in this league for many years, something the Bills need. However, I don't think he has the "star" potential. Vontaze Burfict defines "star" potential. I get chills watching this guy play. Every hit seems to be like a heat sinking bomb. If you haven't seen some of his tape you can go check it out, I promise you will enjoy. The only negative here, is he is a bit of a hot head, something the Bills don't even bother with usually. A trade down to the bottom of the first to nab this guy would be a great move. Nix showed he can draft, last year, he nearly hit on every player. Giving him more picks and still picking up what I think will be the best LB to come out of this draft would be a good move. The only problem is, will be taming this beast, which may be difficult. I can just see him replacing Ray Lewis for the next ten years. He is the same kind of animal and he can be taught there. I also see a team like NE getting him late in the first, or the Steelers. They will turn this freak into the next best linebacker next to Patrick Willis. I am willing to take a shot on this guy, given the lack of top tier pass rushers available at 10. If not, I would be happy with one of the tackles if we stay, but I really see an animal here folks...Do you agree? would you take a shot at him if we traded down?
Poll...Will the Bills resign Stevie Johnson?
With the season over again, its time to look for whats ahead. For most of us this time a year, we spend our times on Mock draft sites, looking at future college prospects and trying to figure out who would be best for our team. We usually don't bother talking about FA because most of the time we are not competitive in that area. FA becomes more of a dream to most of us as we throw around names like Vincent Jackson and Mario Williams.
The bigger deal here is regarding our very own. We have seen plenty of former Bills go on to have great careers. A bunch of them are still in the hunt for the Superbowl...and former coaches. You guys know the names I don't have to tell you. My question is, are we about to let go another future star? Whether you like him or not, Stevie is an up and coming talent. He is quietly become one of the best WR in the game. No, he is not the fastest guy, but he is elusive and gets open. I wen't to a bunch of games this year, and watching his route running was fun. He is better the Lee Evans ever was. Lee was just a very fast guy that could run fade and Go routes. He had to capabilities after the catch. Stevie has all of this and more. I hear a lot of people say "get rid of him, he is a clown." But can we really afford to loose him? We do not have another sufficient starter at the position...Drafting a WR in the first round has proves to be very risky. And its likely the guy wouldn't come in and be a star. Blackmon is probably your only sure fire thing and he will be long gone before we pick. Bottom line, we "NEED" to keep Stevie. However, I don't believe the Bills will retain him. If he walks, it will once again leave me scratching my head asking the question I always ask..."does this franchise really care about winning?" I really have liked what Nix has done. His last draft was probably the best out of all the drafts last year, or at least in the top 5. I wan't to hope we are going in the right direction, but if they let Stevie walk, I will really question them...We were ok to give Fitz 60 million. I would much rather have that money going to Stevie as of right now. Time will tell, but I have a feeling they let him walk. Your thoughts?
Should have made a play at Samuel
Although I can't put total blame on our defensive backs (12 INTS leads the league), the play of Drayton Florence, Mckelvin and T. McGee( not looking like his old self) made this move seem like a good idea. As many of you know, Asante Samuel doesn't fit great in Phili right now. Its not that he is playing bad, its just the statement they made to him buy attaining Namdi. Our real problem is the pass rush though, which would have been nice to address as well with the trade deadline, but attaining a corner who is a very solid prospect was right there for the taking. I don't know if it would have costed that much (im thinking maybe a 3rd) but it would have been worth it with the inconsistency of the play by Mckelvin and Florence. Like I said, they can only do so much with a horrible pass rush and faired decently so far, but picking up a vet like Samuel or some other pass rusher could really have helped propel this team into the playoffs in my opinion. We have been starving for a pass rusher, and from the looks of it, Merriman is not the same old Lights Out. A stab at a guy like Freeney, Mathis or Jared Allen from a team in the rebuilding process for a 2nd or 3rd would have helped tremendously.
I know its always seems like a christmas list and wishing on stars when we throw out names, but we are in need of a pass rush, especially with Kyle Williams out. He may not be 100% for the rest of the season. Besides Dareus, we are not getting any push. Maybe Shep will help? Without a pass rush, I believe it is too much pressure for our current DB's. We can't keep counting on 4 INT's a game to barely win games. We need some consistent pressure. The bye week I feel was a big missed opportunity with a lot of bad teams and players to have been had. Like I said, maybe i'm just thinking of an early christmas list, but I would have like are chances/felt more reassured at this thing with some other kind of guy to rush the passer. I know I originally put Samuel at the top of this article, but a pass rush is probably the more dire need. Hopefully they can come up with something schematically for the next 10 games to make a push at this.
I'm sorry but I have too...Could Tebow be a possibility?
With the looks of it, Tebow's times looks to be limited in Denver. With the new likes of John Elway and company, it seems that they have nothing invested in the kid and having Tebow there is causing more problems then helping. Since Tebow is such a lovable guy and such a leader, the fans in Denver are screaming for him but it is apparently obvious that Kyle Orton and even Brady Quinn are a much better option for their team right now. Having fans against Orton and for Tebow is not helping their situation over there in Denver and it seems that getting rid of Tebow looks to be their best bet if they do not see a future with him...and that is what it sounds like.
My question is could it hurt? I know Nix and company really liked Tebow and were planning on drafting him. #9 was too high for the kid, even though we haven't seen much from Spiller yet (although you and me both have high hopes). If Nix liked him so much do you think he would be interested in trading for him? I mean, how much would it take? A 4th? I am not sure, but it would be ideal and worth the risk in my opinion. Fitz is the obvious starter right now, and Tebow can sit back and learn and watch. A lot is up in the air at the QB position for the future and really depends on how Fitz does this year. Having Tebow in the background, knowing that he will not start nor is ready to start could be beneficial for the Bills future whether or not Fitz becomes the man or not. Aaron Rodgers spent a lot of time on the pine watching Brett Favre. And from what I remember, Rodgers throwing technique was criticized coming out of college too. By sitting a couple years with no intention to start right away might develop the kid. And for Chan Gailey and his style, Tebow is a great fit. The whole running QB thing. And I am sure we could find a way to use him on goal line situations to pound in the ball for scores...its what Tebow does best. I think its worth a shot for the right price. Giving a 4th or 5th for a kid with the abilities he has is worth it. Especially because I think Gailey could find a way to make him into a solid pro. What do you think?
Does Von Miller remind you of someone?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qoQII6vrPHE&feature=related
Ok, so i absolutely hated the Maybin pick and almost died when we did not take Orakpo. I know, its old and its pointless to cry over spilt milk, but it isn't pointless to learn from your MISTAKES. If you watch this guy, that Gailey is "so high on," he looks just like Maybin. Same size, and literally just tries and run around Offensive tackles. He does NOT have the size to be able to stop the run. I absolutely love the play he makes at 2:10 . He is almost the identical prospect that Maybin was. The only difference is he played a little longer in college. I can do this job from my computer, watching youtube videos and its pathetic. Its not hard, and I am sure a bunch of you could do it too lol.
My only hope is that we are picking high enough where our Bills and their amazing scouting staff can't make the mistake and pick this guy. But I said that with many players over the last 10 years. I really hope they just do the right thing, and the most simple/obvious thing and take Fairley (if he is there) or Bowers. These are 2 can't miss prospects that would solidify a much needed pass rushing position/stop the run. Even Dareus would be a solid pick. Our run defense was 32 in the league. Taking a guy like Von Miller that will not be able to contribute to stopping the run makes no sense and thats why the Bills will take him for sure.
I am betting right now that the Bills will once again mess up and take Von Miller. I am used to this team now and their drafting ways and know they will go with Von Miller. Its a perfect pick for Buffalo to make based on their past history of amazing 1st round draft picks. He will give us maybe a special teams player that will get pushed around by guys much bigger than him and will not contribute anything to helping this defense stop the run. Which is our most needed area to improve on.
My Top 5's for Positions of Need and Mock Draft
So usually Mike Mayock likes to do his Top 5's and I like this concept. It is absolutely impossible to guess what player where go were in each of the rounds, mainly due to trades and unexpected picks. Thats why the draft is so interesting in my opinion.
So here, I am going to list all my top 5's at each position of need for us. Next to their name will be their college, projected round/pick range and any addition comments that I found interesting.
After My Top 5's, I did my own type of mock draft. Since it is again impossible to guess exactly who we will or should take, I instead chose a couple names that you should be happy with if they were selected to us. For example, in the 2009 draft, I would have put down (Brian Orakpo, Michael Oher, Brandon Pettigrew) for the 1st round. Unfortunately, not Aaron Maybin, but hey, I wouldn't have guessed Byrd in the second. This makes the "mock draft" more realistic and takes in account trades or players that may slide or rise since I will be picking a couple names versus just one. Granted, the first pick in the first round is a bit easier to exactly make then the latter rounds. I agree with Brian and also believe Dan Williams will be called when the Bills pick. Have fun and let me know what you think!
Why Hasn't Kelsay Been Cut?
I am ridiculously shocked that Kelsay has not been cut yet. He is due plenty of money, money which he does not deserve since he is nothing but a back up in this league...well should be. He cannot play DE in a 3-4. He is undersized. He also cannot play OLB because he is not fluid with his hips and will not be able to cover guys in space, nor do I think Schobel will be able too. Kelsay should have been cut last year, even though he had his best season last year, he still isn't worth what he is getting paid. He will be lucky to be some teams back up if he does get cut.
In my opinion if anyone should have stayed out of the three that were just released it would have been Denny (even tho i liked the national attention with T.O). At least the guy is a very tall guy that maybe could have played DE in a 3-4. No, he probably wouldn't have been a great fit, but better than Kelsay and would have costed less. I realize Denny was a free agent and I do agree with letting him go because he really doesn't serve a purpose in a 3-4. Kelsay on the other hand is costing us big bucks and won't be able to contribute in a 3-4. What do you think? You guys think he will get cut? I've wanted Kelsay off this team for 3 years now, and if he stays another year wearing that dark visor thinking he looks bad A$$ i might just punch myself in the nads =)
Why Lynch should be kept
http://www.californiagoldenblogs.com/2010/2/4/1295962/sport-science-compares-marshawn
Watch this crazy clip of him kicking it into beast mode. Not only is this guy an animal but he is only 23, far too young too be giving up on a 1st rounder who had back to back 1,000 yard seasons. Yes his character is a big issue, but do you seriously just want to get rid of him for nothing. I mean he is worth more to the team than a 3rd or 4th round pick at this point. He has a couple years left on his contract and has something to prove to the league after his mediocre season last year. Yes we all love Jackson, but he is pushing 30 and thats usually when you see RBs taper off. I would keep both and use both. We have bigger fish to fry then trying to trade lynch for a crappy second day pick- like fixing the O-line and getting the right personal to run a 3-4 defense. If anyone should get traded it Schobel in my opinion, thats if he is decides to come back. The guy is ready to retire and it would be great if we could get something for him. Enjoy the clip-its nice to see a Bill get some spotlight, especially when its not him doing something illegal.

If/When you Change your Team, Who Would you Change it to?
Lets be honest here, the Buffalo Bills will probably not be in Buffalo once Ralph dies. As much as I hope them to stay, I really think its a long shot. Especially after this whole coaching search disaster. It is pretty evident that no one wants to be the Head Coach of the Buffalo Bills. For all we know, Frazier turned us down and we are stuck with Chan, and I really believe this is the case. What a embarrassing offseason for the Buffalo Bills and their fans. To be rejected by everyone, even a 2nd tier college coach.
No matter what you optimist say about Chan, you all know this is very disappointing since we went into this thing throwing names like Shannahan, Cowher and Gruden around. This team is not going anywhere under Chan and will most likely be moved out of Buffalo once Ralph and this new regime is done with, since this is probably our last regime we will see.
Since I heard this news tonight I immediately starting thinking if or who I would like if the Bills were no more. I always like the 49ers as a kid since they were fun to watch. Loved watching Jerry Rice. And now that I am older and am very committed to analyzing the drafts and free agency periods i just love what the Redskins do each year. They draft every guy I think is good and go after every free agent that every Bills fan dreams of getting (well maybe not everyone, but to add Albert would have been nice). I mean, they somehow spend over 150 mil on 3 players last offseason with a cap space less than ours. Somehow they do it every year. They also did what every other Bills fan was hoping for, bring in a good, well named coach in Mike Shannahan. These strategies may not have put them at elite level or hell even past our pathetic Bills, but let me say, its a lot more exciting to watch and at least they have a future and a new direction. We have a 91 year old owner ready to die, a 70 year old GM and a coach who has never proved anything in his career. I was really starting to like Frazier and after holding the cowboys to 3 points, you think that would have looked good to the Bills organization. But no, instead we are probably going to hire this schmeeb. If anyone in the Bills organization had half of a brain, Frazier is the better candidate than Chad and thats why I think Frazier rejected the Bills, there is just no other reason to hire Chad over him. The only other thing I could think of is that maybe the Bills want someone now since the offseason is fast approaching. And since Frazier might be coaching in the Super Bowl they just axed that idea. But I doubt it. Its not like they don't have scouts that are scouting these upcoming rookies.
Let me know what teams interest you or what teams you will or will not switch too once the Bills are no longer. I know this may be premature but I think I would feel lost without watching the NFL. I love the Bills and love football. I always said if the Bills moved or whatever I wouldn't watch anymore but the truth is that is probably not true. Its sad to think about but thats this is the first thing I thought about when I read that Chad was likely to become the next coach.
Does Byrd make the Pro Bowl?
Ill be the first to say I did not like the Byrd pick. To me, at the time, it did not fill a draft need. We were set at the FS and SS positions and it seemed like we had bigger problems (like the O-line) than at CB/FS. There is no doubt that Byrd has not only impressed Bills fans but also has impressed the rest of the league. He is quickly becoming one of my favorite players and love how is referred to as "the byrd man."
Since Byrd is the only one that seems to have a shot at making the pro bowl from this team I wanted to do a little ballot of who thinks he will make it and who doesn't. Also, If any of you think any other players might make it, just put it down on the comments. I'll post Byrds stats below versus two other potential candidates. Thanks for your replies!

You would think Jacksonville would move before Buffalo.
I found it extremely funny to watch a 5-4 team probably fill only 40% of their seats. Did anyone else notice that. They even had one section behind the endzone sealed off (with a Jaguar logo) to probably help sell the games out. I wonder how much tickets are?
You would have to think if any team is moving it would have to be Jacksonville. I don't even think they sold out their home opener. Buffalo has great fans and I think we should give ourselves a pat on the back. We support this team like no other (maybe Green Bay) even through the toughest of times. We are due for a good season soon, and hopefully with a new coach its within the next couple years. I'd bet we see the Ralph almost full this Sunday and we are 3-7. It was funny to see a playoff caliber team (wildcard perhaps) not even come close to selling out their stadium when their team was 5-4.
Why did they even put a Franchise in Jacksonville? You think they could of done a little more research before establishing a team with no fan base or willingness to watch NFL football. This team is usually pretty solid and its a shame that they cannot sell out their games.
With the new stadium opening up in L.A, you would have to think Jacksonville would be their number one option for relocation. Any guy with business sense that buys the team after Ralph dies will realize Buffalo is a cash cow. We sell out every year with horrible football teams and horrible games to watch. Just think if this team made the playoffs, the city would go crazy! I believe once the new owner looks at the records, he will quickly realize it will be a better investment to keep Buffalo in Buffalo. It would cost him an extra fortune just to move the team (due to relocation fees and perhaps a new stadium). His real priority should be making this team good again. Then he can still sell out all the games at slightly higher prices. IMO, I don't see Buffalo moving, mainly because of us and how well we support our team. So keep it up Bills fans!
Can Maybin do this?
My buddy posted this on twobillsdrive and I thought I'd share the clip. We were both huge Orakpo fans and still are and cannot believe the bills past on him. Well here is a pretty sweet clip of him literally picking up a 300+ lb O-tackle. This guy is an animal and it too bad the Bills FO doesn't know how to analyze talent. Although my point is to not start an Orakpo vs Maybin thread entirely, it is inevitably going to happen. My buddy and I are just trying to point out how Maybin lacks the strength to even come close to executing a bull rush.
Maybin needs to put on at least 30 lbs of solid muscle if he ever hopes to execute a bull rush in the NFL. This clip is a perfect example of a Bull Rush and how to literally drive your man into the backfield. Hopefully Maybin can one day be a stud like this guy. (I believe Orakpo had 2 sacks yesterday). I'll just keep waiting for Maybin to "develop" while I watch this stud wishing he was a Bill.

Fixing This Team Starts in the Trenches
So I really enjoyed Brian's recent article that dealt with who are the "cornerstone" players of the Bills and began thinking harder while in my tree stand bow hunting this morning. I was thinking, what would be considered the "cornerstone positions," and do the Bills have any of those players and have they addressed any of those positions in the past. After thinking, I came to the conclusion that the offensive and defensive lines are most important followed by the Quarterback position. Over the last 10 dreadful years the Bills have not had any of these three cornerstone positions filled with extreme talent or should I just say solid talent. We have gone through a slew of bad Quarterbacks and spent a lot on under achieving lineman. After the jump I am going to go a little deeper and explain mainly the offensive line woes and touch upon the other two "cornerstone" positions and what I think are the Bills most pressing needs at this point. To this point, I think we can say we are very solid in the defensive backfield; having a lot of young talent and very solid starters for the foreseeable future. Our Running back crew seems to also be solid with Lynch and Jackson. And lastly, in my opinion our wide receiver corps is pretty solid. I think Hardy will soon transition nicely and eventually complement Evans. So that leaves us with pressing needs at the defensive line, Linebackers, Quarterbacks and Tight ends. Three out of those five which are pressing needs are what I consider the cornerstone positions of a franchise and the Bills have been missing those players for some time now.
**********************************************
Most Pressing Need:
#1
Offensive line: Dick Jauron has officially taken the blame for his decision to go with an extremely young line this year. He traded franchise LT Jason Peters, Cut OG Derrick Dockery and OT Langston Walker, and in my opinion, these cuts/trades will cost him his job this year. For anyone who expected this team to go far this year with this young line was extremely optimistic (My prediction was 4-12 at the beginning of the season by the way). I next want to talk about Levy as the old GM. Many people mocked Levy for what he did and blame him for our present woes. I don't think Marv made the wrong moves (positional wise), I just think he was obtaining players that were considered good that were unfortunately not so great. As we know Marv knows football and he showed it by making big splashes in the free agent period, signing the top rated OG Derrick Dockery for 60+ million and proven starter RT Langston Walker for 25 million. Marv's strategy was right on here; he was trying to rebuild this team through the offensive line, by signing what was thought to be the top lineman of that current year. Unfortunately for Marv, both players turned out to be under achievers and way overpaid. I still think we would love Walker at right tackle now though. Bottom line, Marv tried the right way "logically" to fix this team, he just missed out because the talent wasn't there in the free agent market. I am going to do a brief dissection of the current/future Offensive line and provide future solutions (player wise). I will neglect the draft since I am not 100% familiar with all the current prospects and where they will fall at this point (too early). Therefore, I will look at the free agent pool more.
Left Tackle: D. Bell- Has showed that he can play well at times and bad at others. He can be dominated, but we have seen him play well at times.
Future: D. Bell has showed me that he can be a dependable back-up in this league. He has the athleticism to maybe one day be a solid starter. But as of now, we need an upgrade. For you D. Bell fans out there, I still think this guy could one day be a potential starter. The Bills can develop him behind a proven starter.
Best Free Agent Selection at This Point: Marcus McNeil, San Diego (25 years of age). With McNeil you get a proven starter who is maybe a tad overrated but still a dependable every down starter. He is still very young which is a plus. By the way, the Chargers have almost everyone on their roster to be resigned so you can expect some of them to be free agents. The Chargers have a good front office, and I believe they will probably retain McNeil, probably making top priority over Merriman. At this point McNeil seems to be the best option as of now.
********************
Left Guard: Andy Levitre- I think Levitre is having a solid rookie season. He isn't great, but he isn't bad. He has shown he can be a dependable guy who's future looks bright.
Future: Levitre looks to be a future starter for this team. I like his demeanor on the field and his smarts. He will develop into a solid starter for years to come.
********************
Center: Geoff Hangartner- I haven't been entirely impressed with Geoff. He seems to be on and off. Overall he is better than Melvin Fowler and Duke Preston but still isn't a solid starter. This goes to prove how bad the Bills front office is. They make a back-up center their absolute top priority in free agency. They are right on with the position as being a priority, but fail to obtain anyone with solid starting talent.
Future: I believe like Bell, Geoff is just not starting material. He plays alright at times, but he isn't great. I really see Wood being the best option at manning the center position in future years- see next breakdown.
********************
Right Guard: Eric Wood- Wood is quickly becoming one of my favorite Bills. He plays with a absolute mean streak, he is always fighting until the whistle blows and he often starts confrontations with opposing players simply because he doesn't give up on a play. He hasn't been amazing, but he has shown that he has the ability to be dominant in the future, something his other 1st round choice has failed to do thus far.
Future: Wood will simply be a stud in this league, there is no doubt in my mind. I do see him maybe switching to center if Geoff doesn't pan out. If he does move, the Bills will need to find a new starting guard. Here is a suggestion.
Best Free Agent Selection at This Point: Jahri Evans, Right Guard, New Orleans (age 26)- Evans has been a stud and is regarded as one of the best players at his position. He was drafted in the 4th round of the 2006 draft and has allowed very few sacks. Good lineman, give Q.B's more time to throw and running backs more holes to run through, Hence New Orleans offensive production this year. Evans will probably be retained, but another viable option is Logan Mankins, New England Patriots. 26 years of age.
*********************
Right Tackle: Who ever isn't hurt? This is probably the position that is killing us the most on the offensive line, especially when Chambers enters the game- see the Miami game. All of our options are back-up's in this league. I would honestly love Langston Walker. The guy said he couldn't play Left Tackle, they moved him to left and guess what? He couldn't do it. Walker allowed "NO" sacks (I pretty sure on this so don't quote me, but it wasn't many if he did allow some) last season at right tackle. Why get rid of a solid starting Right tackle? It's because Dick is clueless. He should have realized Walker couldn't play Left Tackle and just kept him at his original position. He was solid, why try to change him?
Best Free Agent Selection at This Point: Maybe Winston Justice, Eagles (24 years of age)? Justice started out pretty poorly when he first entered the league as a second rounder. He is becoming more and more dependable as he plays more. I am not saying he is the absolute best thing out there, but from what I can find, he seems like an alright choice this early in the game.
Well, thats my short breakdown, sorry if you disagree or find this completely crazy in regards to the offensive line. I just really think the Offensive line is where this team needs to start building around if they want to be competitive. Good teams like Eagles and the Patriots prove it every year. Their QB's have all day to throw and their running backs have huge holes.
*T.O side track* since it coincides with my offensive line point-
For all you T.O haters out there who want to run him out of town and are calling him a bust; let me ask you, are you serious? If you have no line, no time to throw, and no Q.B, how is the guy going to flourish? He can't throw himself the ball, or can he? If you're going to hit me with the "drop" thing, you knew that when we got him. You knew he dropped about as many balls as he scored TD's. I would like to see him in B-Lo with a new coach and revamped Offensive line next year. I honestly am starting to feel bad for this guy, he can't do nothing right, even if he keeps his mouth shut.
*Lynch side track* since it coincides with my offensive line point-
For all you Lynch haters out there that say "he dances too much," let me ask you, are you serious? He dances because he has no holes to run through. He is always looking for a small crack to hit. He usually gets to the line, where there is no hole and runs with 8 guys surrounding him and carries them for 2-3 yards and half the time doesn't hit the floor because no one can bring him to the ground. Trust me, my season tickets are in the "rock pile" which is about corner endzone 15 rows up, I can see that there are no holes for Freddy or Lynch to run through, especially when they are backed up against our goaline. If you are going to tell be how come Freddy ran so well the first couple games? it is a simple answer. Somehow this line blocked extremely well then, especially in New England. There was huge holes versus new england, and the play calling was excellent. I don't know whether it was Monday Night Football or what, but thats probably the best you'll see this unit ever block. And for Tampa, well, its Tampa.
*********************
Most Pressing Need:
#2
Quarterback: I skip over the defensive line and address Q.B second because I simply think overall, our Defensive line is better than our Quarterbacks. Unfortunately for Trent, he has not progressed. I really wanted both him and Losman to be good, but the fact is, they're not. I would like to see how Trent finishes the year and then make decision. As of now, there are no solid options at Q.B in free agency in my opinion. Kyle orton will probably be resigned, and I really don't think he is that good anyways. He is more of a game manager than a playmaker. Drafting a Q.B seems to be logical, especially if we have a high, high pick. Unfortunately, I am not thrilled about any Q.B in this draft. My favorite is probably Locker right now out of Washington. This is going to be a tough decision this offseason. Something obviously needs to be done hear, because we haven't had someone since Jim. And, unfortunately for Trent, new coaches usually means new Q.B's. I am not a Trent Fan at all, but would like to see him with a good line and coaching staff before I totally canned him.
Best Free Agent: Kyle Orton
Best in Draft: IMO, Bradford/Locker
Most Pressing Need:
#3
Outside Linebacker: So I just skipped over the D-line again, even though I considered those positions as "cornerstone" positions. Why? because we simply are better at the D-line versus the Linebacker crew. Our defense is sadly last in the NFL in rush yards allowed per game, a horrible achievement. I really think this stems from our linebacking corps more so than our D-line. Poz is the only one worth mentioning as solid. I really like Nic Harris and think he can be a future starter in this league. Ellison is awful and doesn't deserve to start at all ever again. Mitchell is a scary loss since he tore a ligament in his knee at a older age. I believe he is 29 or so, and with that knee injury, you could see the Bills release him or see his production start to fall quick. We desperately need outside linebackers and there are a few solid names out there at the linebacking position.
Best Available Free Agents:
Shawne Merriman, Chargers, age 25. A stud at rushing the passer. His production has dropped since his injury, but knee injuries usually take some time before the person returns to full strength. I believe Merriman will get back to full strength next year. It also helps that he is still so young. The Chargers like I said have a lot of guys to retain, and this is one of their guys I see escaping. Bottom line, he won't cost as much since he endured that knee injury, but his price will still be too steep for Ralph I am sure.
DeMeco Ryans and Karlos Dansby- Both highly regarded ILB. Not sure if they can make a switch, but maybe Poz can since he played outside in college.
Well thats it, hope you enjoyed my little dissection and some future possible free agents that the Bills will never sign. Again, I stress the importance of starting with the offensive line. I think the Bills already made a step forward in investing in both the O-line and D-line from the past draft. The Bills need to provide there playmakers with opportunities. You can have all the playmakers you want at WR and RB, but if you cannot protect the Q.B, you will not be able to throw the ball the your WR's, and if you cannot blow open holes, you will not be able to run the ball. This IS the problem the Bills are having. I believe Owens has said it best. He always mentions the O-line when asked "why is the offense not getting it done." There is a reason for that. He had great O-lines in Phily and Dallas, and knows it is very important for success. He has been saying our line is "young" and "injured" and that makes it hard. He is 100% correct.
Let me know what you think. I also attached a poll to let you decide what you think should be the Bills most pressing need this offseason. Thanks for reading!
Byrd, The Next Jim Leonard?
Byrd looks to be everything the Bills thought he'd be... A great Ball Hawk. Though he hasn't made great plays on the interceptions, he finds himself in the right spot at the right time consistently. Thinking back to the Jim Leonard safety days, I could only think of what happened to Leonard and how similar these guys started.
Both guys were served as back up safeties and were not intended to start, the main reason I didn't like the Byrd pick in the 2nd round. The Bills had obvious needs at O-line and pass rushers that I thought this pick was absolutely horrible. It is turning out that the other pick I didn't like (Maybin) is looking to be a lot worse, especially when looking at how Orakpo is playing and how bad I wanted him at the spot. Anyways, back to the comparison. Both, Jim and Byrd were able to step in at safety, replacing their fellow starters. They both excelled well in the turnover portion of the game, Jim Leonard having four picks in his first couple starts (leading the league) and Byrd having Five in his first couple starts.
This brings me to my next point...Our coaching staff. Dick and his fellow coaching staff decide Jim Leonard is not better than his fellow starter and decides to bench him while he is leading the league in picks and later decides to cut him. Well Dick, how did that work out? You guys know the rest. I can only hope when all three safeties are healthy that the Bills keep starting Byrd. I would start Whitner at SS and Byrd and FS. This coaching staff however fails to recognize talent and will probably bench Byrd in favor for Scott. Don't get me wrong, Scott is a good player, but Byrd I think is leading the league in interceptions and has earned the right to start. It would also only help his development as a player. If I were Dick, I would immediately bench Ellison and use Byrd at OLB, heck maybe he can stop the run and he has seen time at LB.
Byrd proves it does not take "years" for players to develop in this league. He stepped in and has dominated, more so in the run game I believe than the pass. He is great in run support as well as finding himself in the right places on pass downs. Thats why I "HATE" it when people say we need to give players time to develop. That is WRONG because Orakpo is already proving he can start and play at a high level when Maybin our 4 year project is awful and not meant to be a 4-3 End. There are also lots of other players that prove the Hardy pick doesn't need to take time to develop either, look at Hakim Nics, Maclin, Percy Harvin and company. Don't get me wrong, I can't blame Hardy for getting hurt but he couldn't do anything his first 15 games. Bills front office does a horrible job at drafting guys and I am tired of waiting for guys to develop while watching other rookies who step right in and contribute. Everette Brown also looked good today and PLAYED in the game, wow didn't see that coming. I mean if the Bills didn't take Maybin how far would he have fallen? I don't think a team would have picked Maybin over Everette Brown, and he fell to the second.
All and all, I am hoping Dick and his coaching staff realize that Byrd is playing at a high level and don't decide to bench him in favor or Scott. I would like to see him take over the full time FS role and see him develop, isn't that why they drafted him? I mean I know they like drafting projects that take 3 years, but Byrd has stepped in and won the spot, by a long shot and deserves the start. Hopefully history does not repeat itself, and Dick has learned from his past mistakes. He and his coaching staff have failed to recognize talent and it has shown in the past and present and past Bills players are starting and contributing at high levels on other NFL teams.
Make a push for Quinn?
Brady Quinn was regarded the best Q.B in the draft a couple years ago. He has good arm strength, he is smart and has all the things you look for at the Q.B position. He was a first round prospect all the way and probably fell farther than he should have on draft day (Russell). Instead of wasting a 1st round pick on a Q.B this year if Trent doesn't pan out, which it looks like he isn't going to, why not trade for Quinn? I am not saying we are going to take a Q.B in the first, but if we are in the Top Ten, it would be very tempting, especially if we have a new coach. The Browns obviously made it clear that Anderson is their guy. So they have a prime prospect that hasn't really even gotten a shot sitting on the sidelines. Believe me, the Browns are building for the future and they want all the picks they can get. Why not throw them a 3rd and a 5th? or something reasonable. You would have had to use a 1st on this guy in the previous draft and now you can get him for less because of the situation he is in. It would be a steal in that sense.
This move is smart on two fields. First, you make it clear to Trent that we are not satisfied with how he is playing. I am sick and tired of listening to this guy after games say, "I have to look at the tape" "the corner made a great play on the ball"- no trent you under threw the ball by 10 yards! And most of all I am sick of that smirk he has on his face!! There SHOULD be a sense of urgency Trent, because if you don't pan out you lose your job and any chance at starting in this league again!!
Secondly, if this team does bomb with their record and they're in a position to take a Bradford or a Locker or a Tebow, we won't have to draft them and pay them top dollar because we have Quinn. Quinn's contract is not nearly as close to what you will be paying for a top 10 Q.B- see Sanchez and Staffords contracts.
This in my opinion would be a smart move financially. We get a solid Q.B with first round grades, probably comparable to a Bradford caliber Q.B for a lot less than a 1st round and a lot less money wise. Ralph would indorse this idea because this is how he thinks. And honestly, I think this could work out well. My guess is a team like the Rams might make a push for Quinn but if he is not traded by the deadline, that is a talented Q.B sitting the bench. And for you people who thinks Quinn is not that good, i'll tell you he has more upside than Trent, and he is worth a 3rd round pick all day. I would even consider giving them a 2nd. But if we got Stroud for a 3rd and 5th, I would offer similar to that for Quinn, maybe you could even squeeze out giving less since Stroud is a proven DT in this league and Quinn is nothing so far. Could it hurt to call and see what they want for him??? Thoughts?
IMO, After 4 games, T.O is Making This Team Worse
So after we acquired T.O I probably wasn't the only Buffalo Bill fan jumping up and down. Until now I even had a hard time sleeping the night before going to the Ralph.
On the contrary T.O has been everything we didn't expect. He is dropping multiple balls, keeping his mouth shut and really not impacting games. I'll be the first to say I realize this is not all his fault and that Trent is more of a part of this teams downfall thus far. Now, before I tell you why I do think T.O is hurting this team I want to say I am and always will be a Big T.O fan. For the reasons Listed below:
1.) The guy scores T.D's
2.) He pumps up his teammates
3.) He played and incredible superbowl hurt
4.) He is passionate about football
5.) He tells the media how it is
Now, he has gone against everyone of those aspects I have pointed out since joining the Buffalo Bills. For starters, and my biggest problem with him is he is completely silent during games. Have you noticed he sits all by himself with his head down on the end of the bench? You would think during week 1 when we were beating the Patriots, he would be fired up, pumping up his teammates. But no, he sulked on the bench because he wasn't getting any of the catches. One key thing I noticed was after Josh Reeds TD at Miami. A friend of mine that went to the game even said this to me and i agreed. After Josh Reed scored his TD, everyone on the offense came over to congratulate him but T.O just walked off the field. Now I realize he is a "me" type player, but at every other team he was on, he was very emotional on the sidelines. A lot of clips you see of T.O are showing him on the sidelines going nuts.
Bottom line, T.O has shown no emotion during the games and towards his teammates. He is not motivating at all. For being paid the amount of money he is being paid and the years experience he has in this league, the Bills didn't just bring him in to score TD's. They brought him in to show this team how to win, how to get excited, and how to break that 7-9 record. Instead, he has been silent and "goes through the motions," you can see it in his body language. I can tell when the play is going to be a run play, just by looking at T.O, I pointed it out to my buddy last week. If I were an opposing defense I would just watch T.O's body language. This could be another reason the no huddle is potentially killing us- just look at T.O to see if its a run or pass!
Now I really do like T.O as a football player but you can tell he doesn't want to be here and its rubbing off on his teammates. He seems to be positive in his press conferences but i think he is just saying all the right things so he doesn't get in trouble. T.O is playing for next year, hoping to be on a better team. Buffalo was probably the only team to offer him a contract. You know he'd rather be playing for the Cowboys. What's done is done, but in my opinion, T.O has not helped so far. I hope he can really start to impact games and start to show some emotion. But as a Bills fan, he has really made me upset. The way he is acting and conducting himself seems to be more of a mock at this organization.
If we lose the next two, bye Dick.
If three 7-9 seasons couldn't do it, a loss to the Dolphins and Browns should do it in my opinion. This guy has been given every opportunity to succeed and he can't. With weapons like Evans, Lynch, Freddie, T.O, Nelson, Parrish and Reed there is no reason this team can't be efficient offensively. Plug these players in the Colts scheme and they would win the superbowl hands down. We have too much talent to be so mediocre on offense. T.O had 10 yard cushions last game!!!!!!!!!!! Heres an idea dick, just throw the ball to him and let him run for 5 yards. Wow i didn't even need to go to Yale to figure that out. Back to my main point before i go on and on about Dick being a horrible coach- The Dolphins are without a Q.B. Chad Hene is not very good and we should win this game hands down, even being so injured. I expect them to run a ton of wildcat and limit Hene to just handing off the ball, for at least this week. Next, the Browns. The Browns again found some way to go from pretty good, to horrible. They traded away one of their best players in Kellen Winslow. The Bills should be 3-2 after this two game stretch, and thats not asking a lot. I said they would go 4-12 this year, but after seeing the Dolphins lose their Q.B I am changing it to 6-10. They should beat the Dolphins twice and should definitely beat the Browns. I understand we lost to two good teams, the Patriots and Saints and I would have told you we would be 1-2 at this point before the season, but I am sick of saying "o they were a good team and we should have lost." Because realistically, we should of won the Pats game, and we were in the Saints game-but Edwards couldn't do anything. In order to be good, you have to win those close ones. Thats really what this league is about. Teams like the Pats find ways to win, because they are a good team with a good coach. Bad teams find a way to lose, like the Bills. Let me know what you think about my opinion because I really don't see how Ralph can keep Dick around, especially if we go 1-4. He also spent a lot of money on T.O in order to help us win which solidifies the point- Dick and Trent have no excuses this year, you win or your gone.
After Week Two, Trent Edwards Leads AFC Q.B's
Not that numbers mean everything but I couldn't help myself to notice that after week 2 Trent Edwards is leading the AFC in passer rating by a decent gap, and second in TD's. His completion percentage is 64.3%, and his passer rating is a beautiful 104.9. And after hearing so much about how goooood Tom Brady looked on MNF, I just wanted to tell you Tom is 11th in the AFC and our own QB is number one. I thought it was totally unfair how they hyped Brady up that whole monday night game and forgot to give Edwards "any" credit for the way he was playing. Now, I do want to point out that before the season, and especially after the preseason I was not an Edwards fan. But if I learned one thing this year, it is not to look too far into preseason games. Granted, I did mention it probably wasn't all Edwards fault and equally blamed Dick Jauron and the offensive scheme for Edwards downfalls. However, right now it really looks like AVP has been the "key" to this now what I believe could be a high powered offense. Now, it has only been two games, and I realize there is at least 14 more to play, but I can't help to notice this team is starting to gel. As the weeks progress, you know T.O will find more catches and so will Lee. Just 5 catches for Owens and 3 for Lee after two games is way too little. AVP, in that respect, does need to find a way to get them more touches, they are the playmakers after all. As for Jackson, what can I say, he is playing awesome. And just think, this offense is without its best player (Lynch, in my opinion). Edwards has played great so far and is proving me wrong, and I love it. He has shown he can make all the throws, and the best thing is, he can improve even more on his already stellar play and he knows it. He is atop of the AFC so far, and that is great to see, especially with guys like Brady, Manning, Rivers and Rothlisberger in the AFC. My opinion would be to give this guy a contract extension as soon as possible, because for one: your keeping a what looks to be a future star and B: you could probably get this future star at a inexpensive price. My point- Trent hasn't really proven anything yet, and by signing him now versus this offseason (with his first playoff season under his belt I believe) would cost us less. If it were up to me I'd wait for the season to be over with, just to solidify my feelings on Trent, but I know how Ralph thinks, and he does count his pennies most of the time. By signing him now, you probably save millions. Q.B's get some of the biggest money out there, and as one of Brian's article links said, "Trent is great value for the money he is making." Just think if he makes the playoffs this year, do you drop a $60 million + contract on him? Wouldn't you like to get a long term deal done now, before he does really well and asks for that kind of money? Well anyways, I am proud of our Q.B thus far and hopes he keeps it up. Remember, he did start very well last year and tanked bad. Take a look at how he ranks in the AFC versus some elite Q.B's and let me now know if you think he is the long term answer for the Bills and what you would do about his contract.

Leodis Chant
I was just on twobillsdrive.com and someone had the idea of chanting for Leodis as he came out of the tunnel. I think that would be a great idea and would def raise his spirits, and if we get the ball, he's taking it back! i'll be chanting Leodis when they call his name, and you should be too. We have already shown our support off the field by the donations, now lets show it to him on the field! Go Bills!
Rewind to 1st Preseason Game
After watching the thursday night football game I couldn't help but think about how the Bills fared versus the Tennessee Titans during their first preseason match-up. Watching the game, I realized two things. A.) Tennessee's Defense is pretty solid and B.) the Bills offense moved the ball right down the field versus them with ease on their first drive. Now the drive did end with a pick thrown from Edwards but the pass wasn't all his fault since he had a D-lineman in his face. Could he have made the throw? Probably, and he would also tell you that he should have made that throw. On that drive, the Bills Hit Owens twice and ran the ball effectively versus a very good defense (only allowing 30 yards rushing or so on thursday night). On the pick, Evans was wide open and probably would have fallen around the 10 yard line. Prime position to put points on the board. Next thing we knew, Owens was hurt and the Bills offense suffered. My point is, if the Bills moved the ball so effectively against a top notch defense with Owens in there, then they have the ability to do that on Monday night, especially against a less stellar defense. After feeling very depressed about where this offense was going, I felt almost relieved after watching Thursday nights game. I think the big factor here will be Trent's confidence. Right now, even though he comes across as cool and calm during the press conferences, don't let him fool you, he is worried. I believe the main thing for Trent is to build his confidence up-fast. The start of the game will be a little rocky I feel, but with a couple first downs I think Trent can build his confidence and start hitting some receivers down field. The defense will be pumped up and I think we will be able to stop the run effectively. Stopping the passing game will be the most difficult task of the night- pretty obvious. If we do not get pressure from our D-line, expect Tom Brady to have time to take a crap, read the newspaper, and pick us apart. We need a big showing from our pass rushers, and some nice blitz packages to press Brady. The Steelers defense amazes me on all the different ways they bring defenders. I wish we could implement some of that strategy. Hope this relieves some anxiety that you may have about our offense. Go Bills!
Trent Edwards song
Sorry it this was already posted but a friend told me about this and I almost died laughing when listening. If the link doesn't work go to stadiumwall.com and look for the trent edwards song link. The song hits all the points I was saying in my one article and its just funny. Well hopefully Trent wakes up, and throws it for more than 3!!!
Ed note by BG: I fixed the link for you, csc. Pretty easy to do. :)
This is why I am not a fan of Trent Edwards
So if you have been watching the preseason, which most of you have, you have seen the ups and downs. In particular from Trent Edwards. However, what do you call the ups? Was it his 10-10 performance against the Bears that resulted in no points? I was shocked when everyone was like "WOW, did you see trent go 10-10." Are you people (reporters) kidding? 8-10 passes were dump offs the Lynch for a 1 yard gain. He made one nice throw to Evans and thats all he has shown. If you look at Edwards numbers you are utterly amazed by his good completion percentage but you fail to look at the other aspects. His completion percentage stems from the fact he checks down to Lynch or Freddie an awful lot. Take for example the Cleveland game. After his ridiculous start, he checked down to Lynch every play and Marshawn almost single handedly won us that game, the guy is a monster and I love him. Trent doesn't make the big throws. If you watch the good QBs, the Mannings and Brady's, the Brees's etc... they all make big plays in every game. By big play I don't even mean a 50 yard TD. I am talking about a pass more than 15 yards (this is what dick means by not being timid). I would love to see the breakdown from Edwards on his completion percentage at various yardages. Where does he pick up his stats in regards to completion percentage? could it be his great ability to check down? I'm sorry but a decent high school QB can check down like Edwards (thats not saying a lot for Losman). Trent never makes big plays and hasn't even led the first team to any points. He doesn't take shots, he doesnt put points on the board and most of all he is boring to watch. He only put in 11 TD's I think last year, thats not great at all. I'll give him this year but I can bet this team drafts a Q.B if they are sitting at Pick 10 or higher (which they will be) and especially if they have a new coaching staff. It seems to be the trend to start a new franchise with a new franchise Q.B. I know this is a little early to be calling Trent a failure and that he won't do anything this year, but I just don't see him succeeding. Don't blame the O-line either, I am actually impressed by them, and thought that they would be worse. Those sacks Trent took were his fault in the last game, especially the one where he ran right into the defender and fumbled. QUIT DRAFTING THESE QBS FROM CALIFORNIA!!!!!
Wood Looks Solid and So Does Harris!
While watching the whole Bills game the other night I was highly impressed by two Rookies. First, Wood dominated the front line. The guy is an animal. I saw him pancake at least two guys while specifically focusing on watching the right guard spot. I really think he looks like he could be on his way to the pro bowl very shortly and we got our money worth for this pick. I know its early but I am excited for this guy and love the mentality he brings to the game. The second player I was impressed by was Nic Harris. They guy was always in the right position and made some nice plays. I don't see why this guy can't make a push into the starting spot over Ellison. If not this year, I will guess this guy will start next year. We saw a little of Nelson and would have liked to see more of him. I saw this guy at camp and he is huge. If Hardy is 6 foot 5, this guy is like 6 foot 8. I wish the Bills got him involved more. I saw him in the slot on goaline and liked that. We need to take advantage of these big players in the red zone and toss it up to them when they are in 1-1 coverage. Levitre I thought played well minus the play he got pushed back into Trent. Let me know if you guys were also impressed. If I were to put a grade on the rookies that I was paying close attention to I would give out:
Wood- A- (a down right force)
Levitre- B (solid and pretty impressed for his first start)
Nelson- C+ (didn't see too much of him)
Harris- B+ (our future outside backer)
Fitzpatrick is Bad
I have been to 4 practices now and I am seriously scared of our QB position. I know the Buffalo nation loves Trent (im not sold) however, this is about Fitzpatrick, the guy is horrible. From what I have seen his arm is weak, makes horrible reads and throws the ball in the dirt more than losman did. Do you really think he is better than losman? I am surprised that a guy with losmans abilities didn't get picked up by anyone, even as a 3rd stringer. I really think Hamdan looks decent. I liked him last year as well. I am thinking he will make a push for the number 2 or at least he should. I really wish we got someone older with some experience to help Trent if hes going to be our future QB because signing a guy like fitzpatrick is a mistake. He has less experience than trent and he is horrible. Just think if Trent goes down, do you trust Fitzpatrick? I don't. Let me know if you guys are seeing the same thing I am becuase at the practices I went to this guy looks bad. If the Bills FO was smart, they would of picked up a vetran that could of helped trent and been reliable if trent went down.
What will happen to this team If we don't make the playoffs?
So I am glad I mixed things up a little bit by going against the Bryd pick even though its way to early to tell but that conversation is over. Next... This team has put a lot of effort in adding players in order to excel next year ( mainly by adding Owens). This should help out our offense a great deal and I think you are going to see a huge year from Lee Evans no matter what happens, playoffs or not. My thing is, I believe this is the last year for a lot of players and coaches. If we do not make the playoffs this year you can expect Ralph to clean house and begin the rebuilding process (even though we have been rebuilding for the last 10 years). I believe this is Trents last chance to show us if he is the one. He has all the weapons now (maybe not a great line) and has no real excuses. Next years draft is strong at QB and I would be shocked if the Bills didn't take one of the three (if you count Tebow) if Trent has just an O.K year (similar to last year). He has to prove he can make the big plays, and the big throws. He seemed to be way too gun shy last year, hopefully this is not the case this year with T.O at the Ralph. Most people don't understand this teams problem has been that we haven't had a real quarterback since Jim Kelly; that is the real reason we haven't made the playoffs in ten years. The only ones I would consider decent have been Flutie and the Blade. Trent has shown that he is smart and can lead, which are two qualities I love about him. But, I am not sure if he has the talent or the toughness to propel us into the playoffs. The only way I see the Bills not cleaning house this year is if they make the playoffs or just miss it and have a solid season. We can't afford horrible clock management on gameday and horrible play calling. Let me know how you think the teams record will be and who will be gone or kept after this year (be honest with yourselves Bill fans, T.O doesn't make us an automatic superbowl team).
Could be early, but Bryd looks like another wasted pick!
So i wrote before (around draft time) about how I didn't like the bryd pick and now i don't like it even more. I was watching this thing on buffalobills.com where they are saying donte whitner is going to make the switch to FS. This really ticks me off since Bryd was supposed to be are safety; or at least it made sense to everyone at the time since cb seemed like are least pressing need, especially in the second round. The bills drafted a guy that won't play (maybe at nickel, but I like corner and youboty and how they have played) and was a total waste for our second round pick. Why not take Everette Brown (we are going to be looking for another DE next year since i think this will be schobel/kelsays last stint in buffalo) or another Lineman that could have stepped in right away and provided us some help. I hope I am wrong, but it looks like the bills FO messed up again like they have done over and over and over again. sorry whitner but i'd rather have Haloti Ngata!
Another Draft, and More Confusing Picks??
Don't get me wrong, the Bills did fill some much needed holes during this draft. However, here are some picks I am confused about.
Maybin- I like this kid a lot. He has speed off the edge, which is nice for a change and hopefully he turns into the next Bruce Smith. However, I am very confused why the Bills didn't select Brian Orakpo with this pick. It was a no brainer for me and all my friends watching when he fell. Orakpo was the only protypical 4-3 defensive end (thats what we run) and Maybin along with every other DE expect Ayers was put into that 3-4 defense. If Maybin doesn't put on about 20lbs he is likely only going to be on the field on 3rd downs. He cannot defened agains the run and he hasn't played at this new weight of 250. He played at 230 in college. This was a big head scratcher when orakpo was still there.
Bryd- This was a horrible pick, probably right up there with the Oakland Raiders taking Heyward-Bay over Crabtree. Bryd is a so-called ball hawk that never played saftey in college. Hmm, its confusing when the best rated safteys were on the board and the Bills selected a CB (that was projected a 3rd round pick) to come and play saftey. It is also HORRIBLE when Rey Mauluga and Everette Brown are sitting there when they were supposed to be top 15 picks. This was an easy decision the Bills Blew. They should of taken Mauluga with this pick and kicked Poz to the outside. They were also dissapointed they saw Brown fall this far as they missed out on Pettigre.
All the Corners- enough said, they drafted corners. Not just one, but three. I believe that puts us at 8 CB's on the depth chart. If someone understands their mentality here, please explain it to me. Maybe they plan to trade away Mcgee, Youboty and Mckelvin because they just drafted a whole new corps this draft and picked up Florence in the offseason?????????? Why take corners when you could of had Brown or Mauluga, or more lineman (a position we need).
Like-
Both lineman- We have made a good move to solidify the interior of our line here. Isn't it weird we drafted two white lineman, and picked up a white center this offseason?? You think they are trying to copy the Patriots??
Nelson- Great value in the 4th. A fast guy that can stretch the field. Needs to put on 10lbs and practice his blocking a bit, but a great pick at this spot.
Indifferent to the rest of the picks.
Mock Draft First Round (Pettigrew and Mack).
Now that the Bills have two first round picks they have a lot more flexibility within the first round. In my opinion, I don't think there is anyone really worth picking at 11. If you think of previous years we knew the pick would be a CB last year, and at 12 the previous year believed Lynch was the way to go. This year isn't so obvious because of all our holes. The BIGGEST hole is now left tackle. I don't care what you tell me, we have NO left side of the line. Tackle needs to be addressed or left guard in the first. I propose we trade our 11 pick and move down somewhere before Atlanta. We take TE Pettigrew with this pick and pick up an additional 2nd or 3rd via the trade. Now we can address the O-line by taking Alex Mack. He can either play center or guard for us and start right away. If we pick a tackle at 11, he is no guarentee of being any good, and being able to start right away. Both Pettigrew and Mack would start right away. Now we have a ton of ammunition to move up if we want to (Very top of 2nd) and grab one of the many DE. Who know, Ayers might slip to the begining of the 2nd. There are so many DE's. They are not all going to be picked in the first round like everyone projects. I only put emphasis on O-Line and TE because we have absolutely No one that can play those positions really. Schobel and Kelsay are O.K starters who proved they can be satisfactory.
