I know we at BCB often joke about players being traded for bats, or baseballs, or other inanimate objects.  Who knew it actually happens?!

The Calgary Vipers of the Golden Baseball League couldn't get newly signed pitcher John Odom into Canada for immigration reasons. And the Laredo Broncos of the United League were willing to take a cheap gamble on a pitcher.

According to the Trib, Ryan Theriot is going to be the Cubs primary extra infielder.  I know many of us expected this, but this is the first time I've seen it offical.

Kerry Wood has filed for free agency.  Maybe this means he won't come back as a reliever?  This kinda pisses me off only because he's been milking the Cubs resources to rehab, and now (knowing the Cubs luck) he's probably gonna go on and be a lights-out closer elsewhere.

The Yanks picked up Shef's one year option, but he doesn't want to play there.  It seems like they wouldn't have signed him to play there if they knew he was going to be angry... maybe they're planning on trading him?

According to the article, Lou wants the Cubs to heavily pursue A-Rod.  Even though the Yankees say that A-Rod isn't available, I still believe he is for the right price.

I just want the cubs from april back... remember how they played with emotion?  Barrett's grand slam, Jacque's first hit as a Cub (the 3-run shot)... where did these Cubs go?

I saw glimpses of it in the reds, cardinals, and even game one of the astros series.  Hopefully they'll show up tonight and from here on out.
