I LOVE THE CUBS!

I'm 18, a graduate of Byron High School in Byron, Illinois and I've been a lifelong Cubs fan since I was born on October 6th, 1989...in the midst of the Cubs/Giants NLCS.

Born to be a Cubs fan...born to cry as a Cubs fan...

Last year, for my 18th birthday, my parents bought me a ticket to game 3 of the NLDS...and the Cubbies got swept on my 18th birthday!

My favorite Cub of all time is probably Ronnie Santo or Fergie Jenkins...and my favorite current Cub is far and away Aramis Ramirez.

I own 3 Cubs jerseys, (Soriano authentics...home and alternate, a Zambrano home) and 2 Cubs authentic caps (home and road).

I've been to 24 Cubs games in my life...my first being in 1998 during the stretch run...2 in 2000, 1 in 2003 (Cubs/Cards), 3 in 2005, 1 in 2006, and 16 last year...3 in April, 3 in June, 3 in July, 2 in August, 3 in September, and the home playoff game.

I love the Cubs more than any other sports team in the world and I always will!

I look forward to a great 2008 Cubs season and I'm excited to go to more games!

GO CUBS GO!

The Slipper Still Fits Oh, Kevin Pangos, Who Art Thou? -- Three in the Key: Gonzaga's Road to Success in the Big Dance

"The Slipper! Still! Fits!" Gus Johnson proclaimed.

Every Gonzaga fan has seen this clip. Embraced this clip. Embedded this clip deep within the nether regions of their brain.

This clip has shaped the expectations and dreams centered around the little program that could and helped spawn an 11-year reign atop the West Coast Conference, the likes of which hasn't been seen since the famed John Wooden days at UCLA.

If you're anything like me, and many of you are, each and every year you plop down in front of your TV and anxiously pace with bated breath on Selection Sunday, awaiting Gonzaga's seed and praying for a fair and rational judgment from the committee.

This year will be no different as the Zags are assured of an impressive 14th straight trip to the magical realm that is March Madness, once again granted an opportunity to make us cry on the floor or scream for joy.

For this season to be more than mere memories, for it to be truly different like senior Robert Sacre is hoping, the WCC power from Spokane will need to find a way to fulfill three major keys.

This is part one of a three-part series. With March Madness around the corner and Selection Sunday fast approaching, I will spend the next few weeks examining three major keys for Gonzaga on their road to potential success or possible failure during this season's NCAA Tournament.

WCC Commissioner Jamie Zaninovich made it known today that next year's conference tourney will undergo some minor facelifts to accomodate the newest conference member, the Cougars from BYU.

There will now be an 8-9 game to determine who plays the #5 seed and the rest of the tourney format will remain unchanged. The tourney will last longer however, with the semis now played 2 days before the conference title tilt (still on a Monday while the semis move to Saturday now.)

Another potential change involves the venue; the Orleans Arena will once again serve as host to the WCC Conference Tourney in 2012 but after that, no one knows what will happen with BYU joining the party.

The final change involves the conference's regular season itself. With 9 teams in the WCC next year, conference play will begin on Dec. 29th instead of the first week of January. 16 total conference games will be played, which could mess with Gonzaga's non-conference scheduling (and may be an ulterior motive to the ultimate decision to drop the Memphis series amongst others).

We'll see what happens with the Zags and their non-conf. schedule as well as the in-conference rivalry that may or may not develop with a significantly younger Cougars' squad. Either way, it should be fun playing two teams arguably on our level but the championship will still run through Spokane!

Congrats on the tourney title Zags and let's get it done this year!!

Well, MLB screwed this up, first postponing the announcement for over a week and then trying to save face by unjustly suspending Gameboard for a game. This is obviously a public image move..because they can't completely eliminate the suspension. It would make MLB *gasp* actually admit wrongdoing for once!

Bleed Cubbie Blue Look...this series is not over...so don't act like it is.

I get the fact that the Cubs have been playing terribly of late...Fukudome, Sori, Lee, Soto, Ramirez, Theriot...none of them have been doing anything.

Zambrano wasn't too bad tonight, the defense failed him...DeRosa and Edmonds are the only two laying wood on the ball...but they showed signs of life in the bottom of the 9th and ended with a little momentum.

Who's to say that Rich Harden can't come out and dominate game 3 Saturday night?! Rich Harden is rested, healthy, and ready to get out there...I anticipate and have been calling a Cubs victory since the rotation was posted...Lilly has been on fire and has that bulldog mentality to get this team back home in Chicago again.

Down 2-0, facing seemingly insurmountable odds, it's easy to hang your head and give up hope...but we've been through too much as fans to just GIVE UP on this team!!

So in short...DONT GIVE UP ON THIS TEAM!!! We have the best chance of anyone to comeback down 2-0...the offense is bound to hit in warmer LA...and Rich Harden and Ted Lilly arguably could have been the starters in games 1 and 2...let's keep it together until we're officially done and hope that the best...(an epic all-time comeback..hey we've had a few of those this year!) is yet to come...

GO CUBS!!
