Deal to renovate Wrigley almost done
Mayor Rahm Emanuel said Tuesday the city is in the "final stage" of negotiating a deal with the Cubs to renovate Wrigley Field.
Two days before Opening Day, the mayor refused to say whether he would sign on to the Cubs’ plan to use 35 years’ of amusement tax growth to finance the Wrigley renovation.
For the first time, the mayor made a demand that the Cubs use their own money to invest in the ballpark instead of pumping $200 million into the construction of the so-called Triangle Building adjacent to Wrigley Field.
Analysis of the Ricketts Proposal
The Chicago Reader did a great and thorough analysis of the Ricketts stadium renovation proposal. I didn't support it to begin with, and after reading this, I find it hard to imagine anyone else would.
No matter what happens though, the sad thing is ultimately the fans will pay the price with higher ticket costs one way or the other. It sucks, but I really had to cut back the number of games I went to this year and will have to keep doing so.

2011 Season to start earlier on a Friday
Seems like Bud & his crew finally got something right, they'll start the season a little earlier on a Friday in 2011, end it on a Wednesday & have the playoffs over before November. Obviously a few issues like the April weather in Chicago & the fact that there are just too many off days in the playoff schedule, but I think its a good step.

New restaurant & update from Crane Kenney
Sounds like Crane gave a long interview with the media today about the baseball and business sides of the franchise. Dave van Dyck covers it.
I found this the most interesting:
A new restaurant, run by Harry Caray's restaurant, will be ready for the start of the season. The indoor-outdoor "sports bar" facility will envelope the entire triangle at Sheffield and Addison and surround the statue of the late broadcaster. It will be open year round and will seat 491, replacing the Friendly Confines restaurant in the right field corner.

Wrigley sale to state officially dead
This was a terrible idea from the beginning, and now thankfully it looks to be officially dead. Hopefully with the book going out this week, they can finally move the sale forward. It will be interesting to see what happens next.

Peoria Chiefs @ Wrigley Field
This is going to be announced later today, but according to my sources the Peoria Chiefs, the Cubs "A" affiliate will play a game against the Kane County Cougars on July 29th at Wrigley Field.
It will be cool to see Ryno in the dugout again.

Jay Blunk leaves Cubs
Seems like McDonough is taking one of his employees with him to the Blackhawks. Check out the story here:
