Who will be behind the dish?

At this point I think it's pretty safe to say Bengie's not going to be a Giant next year. Let's leave it at that. The "will he or won't he" can end now. It's not happening and for a good reason -- he's past his prime and maybe has another useful year in him, but not two. The question -- the REAL question -- is who is going to be behind the dish for the G-men next season. Surely Buster's not there yet.

Why not invite Yorvit Torrealba back to the Giants? The Rockies just waived his $4 million option Friday, and he's filed for free agency. He comes quite cheap, is now a developed veteran starter and is not the offensive liability the Eli Whitney -- ehem -- Whiteside is at the plate. Whitey hit .228 with an obp of .269.

Torreablba is coming off a career year in which he hit for .291 with a .351 obp.

I'm sure there would be some solid options to trade for, but knowing Brian Sabean he'll go the free agent route.

This is as good of a Band-Aid as money can buy. Other free agent catcher options thus far seem fairly atrocious. What say you?

What's the best cable company to go with in the Bay Area for the Giants? It's hard to tell what network the Giants are going to be on next season. It sounds like MLB's network is coming out in 2009, which DISH decided not to pick up. But will I really have to get this package in order to watch most SF games or will they be broadcast on basic cable like they have in the past?

What are we going to do about Dave Roberts?

I can’t believe this guy is going to be into us for $6.5 million this year! Someone please tell me this guy has some sort of upside. Most people are concerned about Zito. He will improve. Roberts … not so much. Omar Vizquel hit better than this guy last season and cost less! How in the world can we cut this guy loose? The Giants have trim some of the fat this off season. Another way of going about that would be to trade away Winn. He’s been valuable so far, but we have other big bats to fill that role, i.e. Schierholtz. Once the cuts have been made the Giants can finally shop for a legitimate back up outfielder.
