How would you grade the Mets?

We have played half the number of games this season. Time to grade the Mets. Breaking into 3 categories.

Coaching. Players. Management.

Coaching/Trainers: D

Why not F. Call it a curve compared to coaches such as Clint Hurdle. Randolph is what Letterman calls a quizical Bunts to move a runner over while sacrificing an out. An abused and overworked bullpen with RP in set roles instead of taking advantage of pitching matchups. Why not Krod for a 4 out save? Use Stokes more often. Why a lineup card that placed Wright in cleanup? Pitching Warthen has to encourage pitchers to use a second pitch and not rely solely on a heater as an out pitch. Training staff have to be revamped. There were early signs to Beltran and Reyes missed which became worse and now prolongs their absence.

Management: C

We landed Krod and Putz to secure our bullpen. No fault to Omar, JJ got hurt. Those are the breaks. So far have not sold the farm. Shef has been suprisingly effective not knowing Delgado would be bitten by the injury bug. However, I can not ignore how our former recent players are blossoming else where - C.J. Wilson as set-up super stud with the Rangers and future stud Mike Carp with Seattle. What ever money we had to bolster our lineup went to Ollie and we know how that move has cost us and ask us what if...Lowe, etc.

Players: C

We roared starting the season like a lion and then went downhill. First Delgado then Reyes followed by Beltran and Maine. In terms of power we are ranked in the near bottom: Last in HRs (49), but in the top 5 in SB and batting average. Maybe we can be the A's of the east and play small ball.

Overall I would give the team a C

With AL action up, what should be the Mets strategy at DH. I'm thinking Sheff since he lacks range in the OF as obvious in tonight's game. Thoughts?

What to do with Colby Rasmus?

Currently I am in a roto league in need of power. Had to trade up Nick Markakis to acquire closer Soria. Hence, the lack of power (or potential power) down the road.

Well I picked up young Colby being a hot hitting prospect and him having an opportunity to start everyday. Then Ankiel came back and now Colby is starting or PH. This inconsistency is driving me bonkers for my daily league. Is Rasmus simply just a 4th OF or will he be bonafide starter?

ESPN has released an image of Obama's bracket. As you can see it is not complete..after scrounging on the series of tubes, this is Obama's Final Four: Louisville, North Carolina, Memphis and Pittsburgh will be heading to Ford Field.

Some observations from the image:

Mich. St. in the Sweet Sixteen?! Hmm either he knows something I don't know about the Big Ten or he is looking ahead to 2012.

Watching the classic Sabres/Senators Brawl

I wondered what happened to that team. Spunk and ferocity. We are down in shots on goal and defensive toughness. Where is the fight? Frustrating to watch the game when we have the potential to be better.

What changed? My speculations

Losing leaders/studs Briere and Drury to Free Agency.

Golisano owning the Sabres and running it like one of his corporations - focus on keepin a bottom line instead of maintaining a high performance squad. Our trade deadline acquisitions are ZZZZZ. No major talent or play makers.

Honestly will not be suprised if we finish 9th or 10th again.

Mets sign Pitcher Ron Villone

Adding our latest pitcher to the scrap heap

The only question I have is AAA or AA or A?

In 74 games with the Cardinals last year, Villone produced a 1-2 record with a 4.68 earned run average.

Come on. Tim Redding, Livan Hernandez, Freddy Garcia, and now Ron Villone. Mets are now the new dumping ground of yesteryear's talent.

(Nightmare) Imagine if they were our starting rotation. Makes you miss Tom Glavine and Al Leiter's final season.

The future is Niese and Parnell, but I can see at least one positive. This will increase the level of competition and make a difference if someone believes they have competition, especially for the 5th rotation spot which is up in the air.
