Men's Basketball Defeats McNeese
Our Red Raiders Men's basketball team showed another scrappy effort to defeat a ready and willing McNeese State team. McNeese came out red hot shooting 51% from the floor and 41% from the 3 pt arc. Our guys trailed for 30 minutes until a strong(er) defensive effort in the second half and personal fouls take their toll on the Cowboys of McNeese State. Singletary had a monster 1st half with 18 points just to keep the raiders in the game. But it was Okorie, with the help of David Tairu, who brought the Raiders back in the second half to give the Raiders their first lead with about 9 minutes to go in the game. The lead changed hands several times until our guys were finally able to put the game away with a final score of 76-75.
Nice to see our guys hold serve at home, but again, sloppy defense in the first half and too many missed free throws (especially late in the game) could have done us in. We have to stop giving teams double digit leads before coach Knight has to light a fire under them at the half.
