Big gain over the weekend

2

but no reporting of it, or did I completely miss it. ESPN also lists him as committed, though they refer to him as a RB and Rivals as an athlete. Either way, looks like someone you want on the field.

O-Overhaul?

"Standing on the sideline with Sheahon Zenger at the end of the game, I (Kevin Haskin) realized, again, the Kansas AD does care. And he does believe in Charlie Weis. Those sound like mutually exclusive matters, but when you hire the coach, that’s not the case. I touched on KU’s flaws, I mentioned the receivers. Zenger said he might be coaching them next season. I laughed. He didn’t." Makes it even less surprising that Ianello is applying for other coaching positions.

Best class ever?

+

So last year's UK class was widely regarded as the best ever. This year, Duke's class has taken off with recent commits. But when KU wins #10 and #6, if Embiid and/or Ellis plus Selden decides to leave early resulting in Turner and Vaughn committing for a class of #2 Myles Turner C #3 Cliff Alexander PF #10 Kelly Oubre SF #17 Rashad Vaughn SG It would certainly seem to top Duke this year, but how would it rank against UK & KU v.'13 or others?

Good Match-up, week 2?

+

While reading this article, it seems that this might be a good match-up for KU for a second week in a row for fairly different reasons. Unfortunately, it is really late after a busy day with another one to come. Thought I'd through this out there to see if you guys who know more about football have thoughts on this. Thanks.

I think I've become a Utah fan.

The Utah basketball coach catches 2 different thieves in 2 weeks. Cool part is he wrote a check for $1,000 to the manager for helping nab one of the thieves. That's a nice thank you.

"Plans call for the 2014 Kansas Relays to be held at the new track and field stadium."

+

Someone on the ESPN Big12 FB blog asked a question about KU upgrading the facilities. They apparently were blinded by the track and had missed all the other facility upgrades. Another poster pointed out that Rock Chalk Park is scheduled to host the 2014 Relays. That would mean that we could possibly start renovations on the stadium as early as December, as unlikely as that is. It did get me to thinking a bit. What it would take to get the ball rolling publicly on a stadium reno? Is it linked to the team's on-field performance? Would KU start another major reno while RCP is still in progress? Do you want/think the whole thing will come down and be rebuilt in one big swoop, or be a phased approach? How many should a new stadium hold?

ESPN CB's

Not much optimism when every DB is a newcomer.

We will never get top recruits to come to a non-powerhouse program

2

If only we could one of those elite programs like UVA. They are so lucky they aren't an elite basketball program so that they have a chance to attract 5* talent and build an elite team/program. If only we could become an elite program like UVA.

Does anyone have any idea when this actually happened beyond during the 1st half of the UNC game?

KU BB in particular makes the list. Not sure if KU FB made it or not, much less any other sport.

Big 12 Game Balls: Week 7 October, 16, 2012 @ 3:45 By David Ubben | ESPN.com James Sims, RB, Kansas: Sims seems to have become a fixture here. Kansas hasn't won much this year, but Sims...

This is the worst KU loss since the 6-3 North Dakota State disaster that kicked off the Turner Gill Era in 2010.

ISU & TTU fans will (continue) screaming about Ubben being wrong, but I've not known him to be extreme. To hear him give this commentary is almost as depressing as the "What we learned in the Big East" article. "It's going to be another long year in Lawrence. What's more troubling? Kansas losing this game? Or Kansas being just a six-point favorite against Rice, which had never beaten a team from the Big 12 since the league was formed? The Jayhawks looked the part of an inexperienced team that didn't know how to win on Saturday, squandering a 24-13 lead late in the third quarter and losing a game it had no business losing. Dayne Crist's second interception of the day was a back-breaker, giving Rice the ball near midfield to set up the game-winning field goal as time expired. Crist is better than KU's alternatives, but he hasn't played well to this point. He finished just 16-of-28 for 144 yards with a touchdown and two picks. I thought Kansas would be better this year. The Jayhawks may improve by season's end -- Saturday proved they've got more room to do it than any team in the Big 12 -- but good grief, losing to Rice at home? I don't care what the circumstances are. That's terrible for a Big 12 team. This is the worst KU loss since the 6-3 North Dakota State disaster that kicked off the Turner Gill Era in 2010."

PASSING YARDS - 169.0, 88th Overall RUSHING YARDS - 263.0, 20th Overall POINTS FOR - 31.0, 53rd Overall POINTS AGAINST - 17.0, 38th Overall I realize it is just the first week, ad SDSU is FCS, but are they really any worse than some of the other cupcakes played by most of the BCS schools? Regardless, it is still nice to not see triple digit rankings, even if that may change once we get OSU & WVU. Lord have mercy.

The Athlon perspective on Coach Weis and KU football

+

In someways not particularly different from anything else we've heard, but still encouraging to read during the next month or 2 of waiting.

Nice Langford Article

Talks about perceptions of success, particularly by the athletes themselves, if they don't make it to the NBA.

Athlon's Football 4 KU

I believe I saw Street & Smiths college FB preview listed here, but I don't recall seeing this link. Seems link a fairly reasonable anaylsis, except more missing on the fact that Mueller went home. Interesting that they talk about a significant improvement all the way up to number 10. Whoops. How low can you go? Glad things are at least on the rise - I hope.

Conner Frankamp update

Apparently an update on the story of him making the last 14 with 2 cuts to go.

Colin Spencer sounds like a stud that a D could be built around. Great to have the Campo factor working.

2012 Football Begins

Okay, so the season is still 3 months away, and even preseason camp is 2 months away, but this article starts the player/lead into the season articles. Probably more important is the fact that players are starting to report to campus. On the downside though, one of our new DT's, probably the most crucial recruit position, Ty McKinney, will b a month delayed in reporting to campus while he completes a course that will transfer to KU. On topic from the article title, it will be interesting to see if Coach Weis is smarter than all the other coaches that weren't recruiting Tre as a WR. Will he be reminding us Papa Parmalee or Deshaun/Tony Sands or be converted to a DB before he graduates.

"Don’t kid yourself. If the Big 12 offers big money, Chief Osceola would jump on Bevo and ride him bareback out of the ACC." and Bevo would be pulling a Sooner wagon c-piloted by a cowboy and red raider with a Jayhawk perched above a wildcat, bear, horny frog, and coal miner in the backend, while a cyclone blows them across the country.

The next KU transfer/dominant center?

Jesse Newell has a nice analysis about potential KU transfer Damontre Harris. His stats at South Carolina show promise.
