Clips Nation Hey Clippers, you suck too!

First, I agree with majority of fans here that VDN is not the right coach for this Clippers team. If we can find a suitable replacement (I hope Nate McMillan), VDN has to go.

Now to my point - players including my favorite player (BG) and everyone's favorite (CP3) and others need to be held accountable for their plays this year. Here's my general list of frustrations with players independent of poor coaching by VDN:

Dear BG:

Hey, you are an awesome player and my favorite player but I think you can do so much better. What happened to your FTs? Your man-to-man defense is just indefensible for a player of your talent. Worst of all, you are not screening right! You are just drawing trap to CP3 and not setting him free. Oh, and please run back on defense and complain later (see CP3).

Dear DJ:

Energy, Intensity, and Focus - bring that every night. I have learned to accept that you are not the smartest of the bunch. But you can be a dominant player in this league just by being a defensive presence. Oh, and please learn how to box out from Reggie.

Dear Butler:

I know you just came off of a knee surgery but you seem out of shape. It seems like guys are just blazing by you and leaving you in the dust on every play, which leads to DJ or BG covering your guy, which leads to fouls or easy buckets.

Dear CP3:

I was initially disappointed with the trade to be honest but I am way over that now and happy that you are in a Clippers uniform. Clearly, you are the best player on this team and one of the best players in the league. I don't have much to say other than I think Clippers play much better when you stay aggressive. Oh, and there are 4 quarters in a game, not just the 4th quarter.

These are my frustrations with the players. What are yours? Let's all vent here if you have something to say to the players.

Latest AccuScore predicts that the Angels only have a 2.5% chance of winning the division with Texas at 97.5%. I know Texas is ahead by 3 games and they are playing well right now. But 2.5%? Come on! We have 10 games against Texas with 7 at home. I will take my money to Vegas on this one.

Aybar steals bases

Despite all the offensive woes going on this year, I have to admit that I am impressed with Aybar's improvement in base-stealing. He's on pace to steal 37 bases and get caught only 5 times. It's not quite Reyes-like but Aybar is holding his own.

hitting coaches fired

Texas Rangers and Florida Marlins hitting coaches were fired today according to Yahoo. Should and will Mickey Hatcher be fired?

A Yahoo blog is reporting that Wells' slump may be due to slow bat speed, injury, or an off-year, or all of the above.

I hope it's not the slow bat speed. I don't know how you recover from that...

Halos Heaven Is it time to hit the panic button yet?

We are 4 games up on Texas as of today with about 5 weeks of baseball left. I am a little worried about us making the playoffs. (How we will fare in the playoffs is another concern but I won't talk about that for now).  We need to win the division to make the playoffs but we face a pretty rough schedule in September.

Relatively speaking, we have a much tougher schedule left compared to Texas. Basically, we play all the same teams in the AL West plus Angels will play Boston, Yankees, KC, CWS while Texas will play Baltimore, Cleveland, Toronto, and Tampa Bay. Angels and Texas will play 7 more times before the end of the season. So far this year, Texas has had our numbers.

It may be too early, but I am hitting the panic button:

1. Pitching sucks: Both our starters and bull pen have been very inconsistent all year long and it scares me. Jered has stepped it up this year but he's still not quite the "Ace" of a playoff caliber team. I think Lackey may have peaked out last year. Our best reliver has been Oliver but he's a situational pitcher and doesn't pitch very much. Bulger and Jepsen have been great since all-start break. I hope they can keep it up.

2. No more Bell / SOS experiments: My pateience is running thin for that feel good Disney stuff. Please send them back to the minors. I just don't think they have the "Stuff" to scare anybody in the MLB. Guys like Jepsen, Bulger, and Arredondo, statistically speaking, may have been as bad as Bell / SOS at times this season but at least they have the "Stuff" to scare some batters.

3. I love our offense this year: let's hope they can keep it up for the rest of the year and don't go in a slump.

4. Kaz: Trading for Kaz was a desperate move, but a good one. It definitely helps this year's playoff run. Long term, it's questionable with more upside considering we didn't really give up any prospects. If Bell, SOS, Rodriguez, and Wood are our best prospects, I really don't feel bad giving up these no name prospects for proven youngster like Kaz. Overall, his contact is the deal breaker. If Kaz resembles anything like his career numbers, we got a good deal. If Kaz resembles this year's numbers, then we are stuck with another GMJ for 3 years.
