Sportsnet's UFC Connected, which despite the name, still covers other fight organizations, awarded fights and fighters in the following categories in the year in review.
No surprise who fighter of the year is, but some choices for fights of year left me scratching my head.
Oh, and I'll do it just to be safe. I do spoil some fight results below.

‘Brutal sport’ of mixed martial arts has no place in city: mayoral hopefuls
At least two mayoral candidates say mixed martial arts are not welcome in Ottawa.
Councillors Alex Cullen and Clive Doucet both denounced Mayor Larry O’Brien’s recent endorsement of the popular sport.
"You’re kidding me, I hope," Doucet said Thursday, reacting to O’Brien’s desire for Ottawa to host Ontario’s first Ultimate Fighting Championship match.
Doucet says he was a boxer in high school, but he witnessed too many serious injuries during that time and eventually stepped away from the sport. Mixed martial arts are even more dangerous, he said.
"This makes boxing look like a walk in the park. It’s not something I would put my name behind."
For his part, Cullen was critical of MMA, which he called a "brutal sport." "There’s clearly a market niche for this kind of entertainment, but I think most people find it far too brutal for their taste," he said. "It is not an event I would look forward to at all."
The UFC’s parent company, Zuffa, announced Friday it has served subpoenas on Justin.tv and Ustream.tv — the latest efforts in its anti-piracy campaign.
The two websites allow members to broadcast live, streaming video, such as UFC pay-per-view events, to an unlimited Internet audience.
According to a statement released by the UFC, more than 36,000 people viewed the UFC 108 event on Jan. 2 that was uploaded from one IP address. More than 78,000 viewed the UFC 110 event from the same IP address on Feb. 21.
