Not in as bad of shape as people think...
i would disagree on the emotional leader loss with Baron that people are claiming. the true emotional leader of the team was and is jackson. yes we relied on baron a lot in games, but dont forget we started the season 0-6 without jackson...and baron was present for ALL of those games. it wasnt until jackson was back that we started winning. we are not in nearly as bad of shape as people on here make us out to be.
realistically we have...a go to scorer in ellis, an active big man who has had one of the top FG%'s in the past two seasons, we have an emotional leader in jackson, who can also take big shots when we need them and often come through (maybe not on the night to night basis that baron has the capability of doing)
we now have a good swingman in magette to take minutes from barnes and air france. (and i dont believe barnes and petrus combined avg. 20 or more points a game)
we will hopefully have bukie back who made some big strides last year. have potential in wright, bellinelli and randolph. don't know much about hendrix so we'll see what happens there.
With the strides Monta has been making in his career, we have someone we can depend on to score. so realistically (as the lakers and celtics and other playoff teams showed) we dont need a huge star point gaurd to be successful with what we have. we just need someone serviceable that can run an offense, give us a bit of scoring and can defend at least decently.
although others are down on it, im for picking up Hinrich. He can run an offense and distribute, he can score and he can hit 3's. being that we are a 3 happy team, seems like an upside. with Monta's consisting emergence, thats someone who can handle and offense and be setting up the other shooters.
hell look at nash ( i am not in anyway saying hinrich is in the same league as nash) but nash isnt really a big time scorer. he is a setup guy more so who CAN score when needed.
so lets see what happens with the rest of the offseason, and have a little optimism. we still have around 8mil for picking someone else up. and with harrington as trade bait on top of that (although i wont have a problem keeping him), never know what will happen.
i was down before with the baron loss, but i think im excited to see next season and what it will bring.
