Question...
Can a team claim an amnestied player and then trade him? Example, since the Clips have cap space left (before we match on DeAndre), could we claim Billups and then trade him to the Heat or even the Knicks. I know the Knicks can't claim him, but can they get him in a trade? Is this allowed? If so, I see a great opportunity for the Clippers. Make a deal ahead of time with the Heat, say Heat 2012 first round pick (A Miami 1st rounder is not that valuable), for Billups. If they agree on the contract value (that is the amount the Clippers bid) then swap a scrub to the Clipper to make the $ work. Is this allowed?
Can Someone Answer This Question...
I've been reading all over the internet that the palyers are threatening to decertify the union...
Baron Amnesty Victim?
This makes the trade seem even worse. We could have gotten rid of him without the trade (however, would DTS have ever greed to pay Baron for not playing?). Maybe DTS would have used the "stretch" provision on him.
Sign and Trade...
Can SP or someone help me out with this? I am reading all these sign & trade deals going on. The latest, now that the Cavs have come to their senses, they are talking about a sign & trade involving Lebron. Why would Lebron want to do a sign & trade? If he is going to the Heat, why ask your new team to expend valuable assets? Why not just simply sign with the Heat and save draft picks, etc. for the future of your new team? Why give the Cavs a trade exception? I know Lebron can get more $ from Cleveland under a sign and trade, but he has agreed to accept less from the Heat. So what advantage is it for him? Anyone?
What Happened to Mardy Collins???
Did we give him a Q-offer? Does he count against our salary cap number? What is the story here?

Lebron to Clippers... This Thing is NOT dead
I just heard Larry King on the Colin Coward show this morning commenting on his interview with Lebron James (I think the interview will be aired tomorrow on the Larry King Show). Colin asked him where he thinks Lebron will play next year, and King thought Lebron would probably stay in Cleveland or choose the Bulls. King went on to say that he gave the Clippers a 10% chance on getting King James. James went out of his way to mention the Clippers and their excellent core group of players, living in the shadows of Hollywood, etc. Colin was suprised, "WOW" he said several times. Colin asked about the Knicks and King said the Clippers were higher on his list than the Knicks. Colin: "WOW". Clipper Nation, this thing is still alive, do not give up hope!

I'll Tell You What is Really Sad...
As the losses pile up game after game, year after year; after anticipation and promise inevitably leads to disappointment and frustration, sadly, its becoming more and more that the most exciting part of being a life-long Clipper fan are the off season roster moves and discussion, rather than the actual games.
My Day at the Clippers Training Facility...
I was lucky enough to get an invitation to a FoxSportsNet tour of the Clippers new training facility today from 11:00-1:00. When we arrived we were able to watch the Clippers play five-on-five scrimmages. Count ‘em, ten Clippers were there on a volunteer basis.

Clippers are #4
Question for Steve (or anyone else)
Hypothetically, lets say the Clippers negotiated a buy-out on Madsen’s contract for this up coming season. Instead of paying him the $2.8M on his contract, they negotiate a buy-out for say $2.3M, saving the Clips $1/2M. Which number would count against the salary cap, the $2.8M or the $2.3M?
Similarly, couldn't the Knicks negotiate a buy-out on the two remaining years on a contract like Curry or Jeffries, or simply pay him the two remaining years in full during the current season, cut them, eat the applicable luxury tax for this year, all to have additional cap space next summer. I understand this might cost a lot of $, but is this not a way to free cap space? In other words, pay the balance remaining on the entire contract NOW, cut him, and have tons of cap space next summer. Does that work?
Or, what if the Knicks negotiated a deal with, say Curry, to pay the entire balance of his two-year deal this year, coupled with a provision to pay him the veterans minimum next year. Does this free up cap space for next summer? Can you accelerate payment of a contract into the current year, to create cap space for next year? I understand the luxury tax scenario, but if NY wanted cap space, couldn't this happen?

Milwaukee Trades for Another PG
That gives Milwaukee three PG; four if you count Sessions. Why would they make this deal if they intend to keep Sessions? The answer is - they do not intend to keep him. I expect a final answer to this Sessions thing very shortly. Lets hope Dunleavy pulls off some of his magic! Go get him!
Latest on Sessions
According to Hoopsworld, here is the latest on Sessions
