ATLANTA -- Manager John Russell posted the Pirates' opening-day lineup in their Turner Field clubhouse this afternoon:

Nate McLouth, CF

Freddy Sanchez, 2B

Jason Bay, LF

Adam LaRoche, 1B

Xavier Nady, RF

Ryan Doumit, C

Jack Wilson, SS

Ian Snell, P

The Pirates face the Atlanta Braves' Tom Glavine tonight at 7:10.

 

Doumit is starting against the leftie despite Paulino's offensive splits. I believe this sends the signal that Doumit is his preferred catcher. 

Russell apparently has decided to play without a 3Bman. A bold move for sure, but I really question if it will help.
