Bad Left Hook Ricky Burns gives up belt, Moves up to fight Katsidis

http://sport.stv.tv/world-sport/270099-ricky-burns-relinquishes-super-featherweight-belt-for-wbo-lightweight-title-bout-with-michael-katsidis/ Recently confirmed to STV news
Boxing champion Ricky Burns has confirmed that he will relinquish his WBO super-featherweight title to step up for a shot at the vacant lightweight belt. The Coatbridge boxer will now face Australian Michael Katsidis in a battle for the vacant WBO lightweight title on November 12 at Glasgow’s Kelvin Hall. Burns was expected to defend his super-featherweight title against American Adrien Broner but the fighter’s manager Alex Morrison has confirmed to STV that he will now face Katisdis instead. He said: "We have had confirmation through from Frank Warren’s people that Ricky will now face Katsidis in November. "The lightweight title is vacant just now and we are all agreed that this is the best fight for Ricky in the long run. "As Ricky gets older he is struggling to make the weight for his current division and the next sensible step seemed to be to move up to lightweight. "I don’t think he will have any problems in this division as he has always been big for a super-featherweight and he is a hard puncher." The 28-year-old is said to happy about his first lightweight fight against Katsidis - who is known for wearing a replica Spartan helmet during his pre-fight ring entrance – despite earlier admitting that he was looking forward to facing Broner in Cincinnati. However, the Rickster can count on some strong home support at the Kelvin Hall which was the setting for his title win against Roman Martinez. Morrison added: "There are a few things that are subject to change but at the moment we are pleased that Ricky is going back to the Kelvin Hall."
As rumoured Ricky will not be going to the US but will stay at home and move up to face Katsidis in a fight where he will probably be the Underdog. Is it a bold move or is he ducking a tougher fight?

Bloody Elbow Could the UFC and Strikeforce trade fighters?

Since both organisations seem to have an ok relationship this could work.  The UFC wants the best fighters in the world and strikeforce needs depth in its roster.  My first thoughts would be as follows

To the UFC: Overeem, Shields

To Strikeforce: Vera or Thiago Silva (or Both), Koscheck, Serra

Why? Trade 1

Overeem: The UFC will need Challengers for Lesnar, Overeem is a credible name to add to the division and there are a lot of heavyweights Strikeforce can pick up to make up the gap especially when Aflliction goes under(Buentello, Yvel, Rothwell, maybe Barnett) on the other hand

Vera or Thiago Silva (or Both): Strikeforce's LHW Division could use some depth and i don't see any long term direction for either fighter in the UFC (maybe Vera could work to a title shot i just don't see it), there are not a lot of LHW free agents out there and this would work out well for both parties.

Trade 2

Shields: this one is a no brainer, the guy wants out and has had to go to MW for challenges and he would be a competitive addition to the UFC WW division

Koscheck: Kos isn't going to get a title shot and with the fact Josh, Swick and Fitch don't want to fight each other it leaves not a lot of options, he would be worth sacrificing to get Shields and could have a really good run in Strikeforce

Serra: Since Serra doesn't want to go down to LW he isn't going to make a run in the UFC but at Strikeforce come on the build up to Diaz Serra would be golden, he could also have a good run there.

I know this is unlikely to ever happen but if it could both orgs could benefit.  What do you all think? Who would you like to see move over?
