The Yankees and Chan Ho's Diarrhea
Someone alluded to this a day or two ago, but here's Chan Ho Parks now famous interview. George Steinbrenner must be rolling in his grave.
Wait, what?
Who's On Camden Chat? (let us know!)
(edit from duck - Seems like it's time to open this back up. I've promoted it back to the Front Page, it will probably stay there for a few days. Comments have been re-opened. If you haven't shared with us in this thread and wish to, here's your chance.)
It seems every day I see a new name somewhere on Camden Chat. I want to know who's actually here and who they are. So who are you? Personally, if everyone can give their name and a tiiiny bit about themselves, I think we'd be all the better for it.
Also, If we keep this post up with the "recommend" feature, then we can keep adding to the list as people keep coming in. I'll start...

Eli confirms Dallas locker room sig. is real
Apparently the 'boys are using it as motivation. Eli says they'll get over it. I think it's awesome.
Poor Berg...
even his own team's website can't spell his name correctly. It's 3 E's guys, c'mon now...
Reimold T-shirt Tuesday
Sorry to post this. I know it isnt very interesting, but too bad.
ESPN Recognizes the Greatness that is the O's Outfield
Just a nice little article talking about the kids in the outfield. Nice to see ESPN actually mentioning the O's (apart from the 2 days before Wieters came up that is).
O's come to terms with 1st pick Hobgood
Just noticed nobody had posted anything about this yet.
The O's agreed with Matt Hobgood on a minor league contract with a $2.42mil signing bonus. The link includes video of the press conference. Welcome aboard, Hobgoblin. Or Hobgreat, or maybe Hobbad. We shall see.
Ponson tests positive for banned substance, tries to be less fat
HA! HA HA! I found this amusing. Apparently he tested positive during the WBC for Phentermine, which is a drug used to treat obesity. HA!
Chris Ray Recalled
The good news: No more Castillo!
Bad news: um... is Hendo our lefty guy?
Remember Trembles Dave, JJ is better against lefties than righties.
Anyone making the trip to Philly?
I will def. be there Friday and just may make the trip Sunday (I haven't looked at the pitching match-up or anything, and I only have tickets for Friday as of now, so we'll see). I don't know exactly where i'm sitting, but I believe its in the 400's way up on the 3rd base line. I'll find out for sure when I get them. If anybody whats to say hey or maybe grab a beer pre-game or something to that effect, let me know. I'll be with a pseudo-Phillies fan and i'm afraid for my life as I despise fans of teams from Philidelphia. Should be fun!
O's vs Mets at the Ziegfeld In NYC
I wanted desperately to get to this game as it is the Adam Jones bobblehead game, but it just isn't meant to be. However, it looks like they are going to be showing the game at the Zeigfeld theater in NYC, which is pretty cool. They have concessions so it's made into a ballpark like atmosphere and between innings they do trivia contests and things like that. Its only $12 bucks. Anyone in the NY area interested in going? Here's the link:

2009 Draft day thread
Just in case anyone wants to chat during the draft, I figured i'd throw up a thread. I have no I dea how i'm going to make this long enough to get to the limit to be able to post this, so i'm going to ramble on as long as I can. I'm glad we aren't getting Strasburg because his arm scares me to death and I think he's gonna be injured ALOT and make all his money from his signing bonus (have fun paying that, Natinals). And yes, you can all save this is shove it in my face when he's the second coming of Cy Young.

Mostly On-Topic Poll: Least Favorite Oriole All-Time
Everyone is in a terrible mood. The team has been horrible lately. I decided to find an informative, interesting way to vent some of that anger.
Who is your least favorite/most hated O of all-time? As long as they were ever on the Orioles they count. Reggie Jackson, Curt Shilling, Sammy Sosa, Lenny Webster, Jay Gibbons, whatever. It doesn't matter how long they were with the O's or how good/bad they might have been in their time with the organization, just how much you look back at them with disgust and burning hatred.
Personally, I think i'm going Shilling. Name a few though. You might just bring back enough bad memories to change my mind.

The next Matt Wieters?
Ok, I hate that we nationally freak out over HS kids and put an insane amount of pressure on them, but I had to post something on this kid in case anyone here hasn't heard of him. His name is Bryce Harper. He's 16 y/o, 6'3", 205lbs. He's hit a 570 ft home run (with a metal bat off of a BP pitcher, but still) and throws 96 mph when he pitches. He's a catcher. Think he may be going #1 soon?
Just think, Wieters in B'more, this kid potentially a Natinal. Could be fun.
BTW, he dreams of wearing the pinstripes, so I hate him.
O's to Draft Best Available Player
Just in case anyone missed this, the O's look like they are going to draft best available as opposed to drafting for need (which probably means another pitcher).
I know alot of people here were afraid of the O's drafting based on need, so let this quell your fears.
Going to the game Saturday?
My girl and I just decided to make a trip down for Wieters Day, Pt. 2 and see his 1st career hit. Anyone else in town? If you'd like to meet up (for a drink or just to say howdy) let me know. I'm staying close by at the Marriot on S. Eutaw and i'll be there around 3. Just drop me a post or email me at daveh873@yahoo.com.
BTW I havent bought tickets so I dont know where I'm sitting. Figured i'd get them there.
NY/NJ/CT/PA O's fan meet-up for Wieters' first game?
I was wondering if anyone wanted to get together somewhere in NJ or NYC to catch the game Friday. I know we have quite a few NYers on here and I dont know if there are any other NJ people. If anyone is interested just post here. We can figure out where to meet up when we know where everyone is coming from, so just make sure to list your area if you are interested and if you have any suggestions, throw them in too. I'm willing to travel central Jersey, NYC, whatever, so don't hold back.
OT Poll: Favorite NFL Team?
I'm starting to think about the NFL season and i'm getting a bit anxious. It got me thinking about how many people we have on CC from so many different areas. I'm curious to see how our football allegiences line up. So what is your favorite team? If you want to add something in the comments section ('09 predictions, feelings on the offseason/draft, why you're a fan of that particular team, whatever) feel free.
(Not really) OT: John Gibbons Caption Contest!
Plain and simple... Make a caption for this picture. Best one wins nothing, except my praises. BTW, this would be a fanshot except people don't read them. Sorry.

Poll: Rookie "O" the Year
We're gonna see quite a few rooks before the year is out. People are talking about guys like Wieters and even Koji! being ROY, but who will be OUR rookie of the year? Even if one of our guys doesn't win the AL award, I think it'd be interesting to guess who will be the best one for us this year. I know that some of these guys may not be up long, or even at all, but they all have a shot at playing this year and making a case for themselves. So lets have the candidates...
Reimold Recalled!
Its time. Nolan is being recalled tomorrow as McCrory was optioned today. Its all here. This is pretty exciting stuff, but if he's going to be up here, I sure do hope he's playing regularly. I'm praying that AJ is ok, but maybe if they rest him a couple of days it'll open up some playing time for Nolan.
My real question is how can someone be recalled if it's their first time being called? Crazy. Regardless, get ready for the Nolan Reimold Express! No? Ok.
Jay Gibbons Update! (attn: NY CC'ers)
I won 5 tickets to a Newark (NJ) Bears game for today and went to look up their roster. I found that their website isnt functional at all, but through some investigative reporting (ie google) realized that they have such former O's greats as Ryan Bukvich, Alberto Castillo, and of course Jay Gibbons. Also, I read that they signed Armando Benitez, though I cant find any statistical info for him so I can not confirm or deny this.
Any NYC CCers who want to go see horseface killah can just hop a train to newark penn station. its pretty much walking distance from there. Tonight they play Bridgeport, who have Ed Rodgers and Esteban Yan. This is gonna be exciting!!!
Remember this guy?
I read the article looking for Simon (shockingly, an Oriole was not named in an ESPN article). Instead, I find Darnell McDonald. Wow. Congrats, Darnell. Enjoy your time with Ramon Hernandez, Jerry Hairston, and Arthur Rhodes (What!? That guy is still alive!?)
1 Yankees ticket: Priceless (well, darn close...)
Wanna go see a game at new yankee stadium? wanna sit behind home plate or next to the dugout. That'll be $2,625.00 please. Oh, and thats per ticket.
Its great to see organizations really reach out to the public like this in times of economic crisis. Well done, MFY's.
Another Oriole hanging with his old team...
This one's a bit different than Kevbo though. I almost feel bad for Eaton. We boo an opposing player and its international news. Philly boos one of their own (kinda) at a ring ceremony and its cool, though.
Who WAS Mr Birdland 08? YOU DECIDE!
I figured if we're creating an award, we might as well give one for the past season while we're at it. If you think its a dumb idea, it'll be gone down the fanpost line soon anyways. If you like it, recommend it and to hell with those other people, it'll stay at the top. So who was the MOST Birdland last year? Again, its performance, awesomeness, entertainability, and the dude that all around made the O's rock insanely hard (even while they were playing hooooorribly). I submit to you the following choices:
