A tip of the cap to Lookout Landing for bring my attention to this PDF. Rather interesting stuff about the rate players production tend to change with age. It has pretty tables and graphs. I am sure the computers and Stats(tm) savvy among us have already seen this link but perhaps a few plodders are like me and have not.

Keep in mind this is a fan reverse engineering the Elias formula. His attempt has been very good at gauging what Elias status ends up being but they should not be viewed as carved in stone after having had a burning bush speak to you. ( Cue Goofus or Howie type remarks in 4 … 3 … 2…)

And was that bang worth it ( effectiveness). I don’t know if every one interested has already seen this link. I has a nice little table in it.

What I am hoping for his a bit of thrashing out which if any of these guys would by possibly useful for the Giants in 2009 & 2010 as the McCoven see it.
.
Yes I am hiding down here fan shots so we only get hijacks ( can always use a good laugh) or thoughtful posts.
.
Tex - Very Good but will cost way too much. So lets ignore him.
.
That leaves us …
..
Mark Ellis - We have possible answers in house for the 2010, 2011& one season that would not see the light of day with him being signed.
...
Furcal - See Crede and back injury’s.
...
Izturis? - good glove can play more then one spot. Nothing special with the bat but not a complete black hole & can steal.
...
Jaun Uribe? - Hey the White Sox were using him at third & he should be cheaper then Crede.
...
Casey Blake? - can play 1st & Rf. Is rumored to want to be in the mid U.S.
...
GarciaParra? - Has played some 3rd in the past. 1 bad year in the last 4 vs. LHP but could he be useful as other half a first base platoon absorb time at third?
...
Adam Everett? - this era’s all glove no hit SS. Could he soak up time at 3rd?
...
Crede - hey Juan Urbie replaced this guy. He is strictly flier material at this point.
...
Aaron Boone? - he has played third for full seasons before.
...
Russell Branyan - Has power but LHP eats him alive.
...
.

Anyone care to add, or strike, names to this list? How about refine it down to players you think might fit the Gaints needs?
