Roman Noel - 4 star Commit
Any word on what recruits were at the UMD/Fl State game? I imagine that stadium full black-out was an impressive site to see. Rivals is reporting that Rodman Noel committed somewhere and he was at the game on Saturday. I do not have premium access. I know he was a soft verbal to UMD last year before not getting grades. He is now rated as a 4 star, so would be nice to get.
Bruce Pearl in hot water
I am surprised that no one is talking about this. I actually like Bruce Pearl, but he took our primary recruit last year, Tobias Harris. Has to make you wonder whether he would get top recruits if he played by the rules. It must be pretty bad if UT imposed these kind of sanctions before the investigation was done.
From ESPN:
As of this writing, Tennessee's surprising news conference announcing self-imposed penalties is nearly finished. We'll have much more about the press conference, the investigation, and the causes therein -- excessive phone calls and providing misleading information to the NCAA among them -- in due time, but for now, here is Tennessee's list of self-imposed penalties for coach Bruce Pearl and his staff. You can read the PDF of UT's press release here. The digest version:
- A $1.5 million reduction in pay for Bruce Pearl over the length of his contract, which expires in 2015. The reduction proceeds progressively; Pearl will give up almost $1.1 million over the next two years, and he will not receive a scheduled retention bonus of $500,000 in 2012.
- A series of pay cuts for Pearl's staff, including assistant coaches Tony Jones, Steve Forbes, and Jason Shay.
- And, in what could be the most important penalty for Tennessee's on-court performance, Pearl will be prohibited from any off campus recruiting activities from Sept. 24, 2010 to Sept. 24, 2011. ................................ http://espn.go.com/blog/collegebasketballnation/post/_/id/15137/tennessee-penalizes-bruce-pearl-staff
New Terps Commit, Desmond Kearse- another one from FLA
Rivals is reporting that Desmond Kearse, an OLB out of North Fort Meyers, FL has committed to play for the Terps http://rivals.yahoo.com/maryland/football/recruiting/player-Desmond-Kearse-106141
Here is a good article about Desmond, a cousin of another North Fort Myers High graduate and a former collegiate and NFL beast, Jevon Kearse.

They only list him as a two star, but I am always please to get some more FLA talent
Terps pick up commit from 3-star OG Recruit - Sal Conaboy
http://www.thetimes-tribune.com/sports/sal_conaboy_chooses_maryland
From the article
"On both of his visits to the University of Maryland, there was something special for Sal Conaboy.
So with just a few days left before his senior season at Abington Heights, the highly touted 6-foot-5, 255-pound guard made a verbal commitment to play for the Terrapins beginning with the 2010 season.
"It feels right," Conaboy said. "Everything from the coaches to the program to the campus, it just feels right.
"The atmosphere of the team feels like one big happy family. That's what they build off, and that impressed me.""
Welcome to UMD, Sal!
