Word out of the greater Auburn Opelika area is that first year offensive coordinator, Tony Franklin has been fired. Thousands of war tigers, and especially the team punter all let out a contented and much needed sigh of relief. I mean, come on, this was a bad hire to begin with, seeing as how there were no true players on AU's squad ready to play Franklin's high school offense. Two months ago Tubbs said he was married to the spread, but The honeymoon is most assuredly over and now Tubbs can't get the lingering images of Stephen Davis, Rudy Johnson, Ronny Brown, Cadillac, and Kenny Irons out of his head. Auburn has always had that heritage as a power running team, and so I was surprised to hear so many of their fans talk like they would be unstoppable with the new system. It's remarkable how a loss to Vanderbilt, can suddenly rekindle a fanbases' affinity with an offensive style that has identified AU pretty much from its inception. But I think this ultimately all rolls down on Tubbs' poor decision making; if you recruit to run the ball, run the ball. Lets just hope they don't get it together by the time we play them.

GO DAWGS!

The trojans experienced significantly more friction than they expected in being recently pounded by the beavers. Unfortunately trojans, you are not the emaculate receptacle of the form of all-time colleg dominance that you have been currently annointed. Did you feel so bad about what you did to OSU that you had to give the Big Ten a reason to look good? Yeah, Goooooo Penn State right? Georgia do me a favor and realize your ability to make the pundits wake the F up and recognize that the future lies ahead, and our team has never had more incentive to play hard. Offensive line, the spirit is speaking through me and it telss me ye shall gel!!!!!!

This is my first post on SB nation, and I would like to say that I have been enjoying the insightful and often hilarious commentary here on Dawg Sports for a few months. Now to the horrible news. . .

Starting left tackle Trinton Sturdivant suffered a knee injury during Monday evenng's scrimmage and might miss the entire season. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

With the obvious importance each player on the offensive line has in helping this team navigate their difficult schedule and gain a berth in the SECCG, we can least afford to lose Sturdivant. He has seniority (he is a sophmore after all {I would lol but currently can muster no joy}), started all 13 gamed last season, and is a mean mutha who protects Stafford's blind side. With the loss of him, and Southerland's early absence, I am worried about the offense. With coach Searels already shifting players to new positions on the line, what will this line end up looking like, and how good can they really be? I am guessing pretty darned good, but how long will it take for them to gel? We can't afford to have a so-so line for the first six games of the season. I just think this is devastating, and might be venting a wee bit. If anyone knows more about who will step up, and can share some positive message of peace about them please let me know.
