Behind the Steel Curtain Any interest in Aaron Schobel?

Looks like the Bills finally cut him loose, and while he's getting a little older (32), does anyone else think he may have something left in the tank?  8 of his 9 seasons he played in all 16 games and 3 of the last 5 years he had double digit sacks, including 10 last year.   I'm not quite sure why the Bills had issues with him, I haven't dug that deep into it, but he seems like he's been a pretty solid player throughout his career.

For a reasonable price, is he worth taking a look at?

Behind the Steel Curtain Confused and need some insight.....

There have been so many posts, comments, mock drafts, replies, etc., over the last few weeks that my head is spinning.  On the one hand, it's great to see so much discussion going on in the "off-season," yet on the other hand, I'm reading comments about players that are totally opposite of what I had been led to believe during the season.  So with that in mind, I'm looking for some help/direction in trying to understand the new point of views:

1)  Craig Urbik - during the pre-season, he was knocked for being a little slow and was called soft quite a bit.  Today in the post on not tendering Stapleton, one of our members commented that he was super agressive and needed to work on the foot speed; the coaches loved him.  I don't recall that he dressed for a single game this year and an undrafted player (Foster) actually saw the field quite a bit more than Urbik.  Seems to be a disconnect to me.  Do we like him as a player, or because he was a 3rd round pick?

2)  Tony Hills - another 3rd rounder, and I do recall that the coaches like his potential; he was going to be a project.  Two years later he still can't get dressed on game day.  How long is a project?  Is he still seen with big potential?  Seems to be a bust in my book....

3)  Sunny Harris - because of how we picked him back up, he needed to remain on the roster - understand that.  Where I'm struggling is that even with some of the games that our D-Line was not at 100%, he didn't sniff the field.  I saw a comment today, I thought in one of Dale Lolley's posts (hope I'm giving proper credit here), that the coaches are really high on him for 2010.  I saw Ziggy get on the field and play better each week; the more repetitions, the better off you'll be.  If we were short-handed, Sunny was on the roster already, and the coaches like him, the why not toss him out there to gain the experience?  I sure thought it worked for Ziggy, and by the Dolphins game he looked like a different player.  We need to get younger on the line, so why not Sunny also?

4)  Tyler Grisham - Pittsburgh's Wes Elker?  I don't remember him from college and he played very little last year.  Anyone know if he can really play or not?  He caught about the same number of passes as Sweed did (not that that says anything).

5)  William Gay - was he out of position playing CB?  As in really a better fit for safety?  I heard he was a safety in college from somewhere and it stuck with me.  May have quoted it myself in game-posts without checking...sorry about that.

6)  And last.....Stapleton goes over Hills.  Purely $'s? The younger, one-position and cheaper Hills doesn't sound like a good choice when compared to Stapleton's experience & ability to play multiple positions.  Is the FO clearing out the bigger salary hits to make room for a 1st round lineman?

Thoughts/comments?

Behind the Steel Curtain I Want a Refund

I am a fan from the early '70's.  The first time that I saw the Jack's (Lambert & Ham) play.  I have lived through the ups and downs, pretty much as all of us have.  Maybe I'm spoiled because I've seen 2 back-to-back champions.  Maybe I'm spoiled because I've seen 6 championships in total, where the majority of NFL fans have not (I will admit to much glee on this point, my father is a die-hard...DIE-HARD Eagles fan who has asked where he failed, and then disowned me for his grand-son wearing the black and gold).

I have the flag(s), the T-shirt, sweatshirts...the mugs, the cups, the hats.....the pens, the notebooks, the Terrible Towels.....I have the world-famous logo tatoo'ed on my leg (my Hong Kong Office was most impressed!)....I over-paid for everything.  We all do, the NFL license is the most expense in the world - bar none.  It was all worth it.

This is the first time that I can remember being disappointed.  Trully disappointed.  I bought in, hook-line-and-sinker to the belief that NONE of the veterans would let the SB hangover effect them this year like it did after the 2005 Championship.  And I feel let down.  I love this team and all that it stands for.

I feel let down and I can't get over it.

Behind the Steel Curtain Need Info on Kemo...

The game wasn't on in my area and I couldn't get the computer link to work so I could watch....I've read a few posts already that mentioned Chris going down with a knee injury.  I haven't been able to find any injury reports anywhere  that talk about it.

Anyone have details, and who went in for him went he went down?

Chin up gang, still 6 games to go and as we've see this year, ANYTHING can happen....no doubt we can get this going in the right direction.....GO STEELERS!

Behind the Steel Curtain Mendenhall

If I missed the information and it's already posted here somewhere then my bad.  I haven't see it yet, so I'm asking for some information in case anyone else did catch this.

It's pretty obvious that Coach T was "mildly" upset at Rashard for the dive that caused the fumble.  I have to admit that watching the run on TV, I did stop cheering long enough to ask out loud, "what just happened."  It seemed to me that he was a little far from the goal line to be thinking of diving over the defenders.  And guess what?  He was WAY short, and the fumble to boot.

Anyhow, I'm not the only one to question that play.  It was the last we saw of Rashard for the game, as our savior Mewelde took over from that point on.  Pretty obvious that Rashard sat for being a bonehead.  I did see a comment from Coach T saying that Rashard was still the starter, but I haven't see anything else - and I must have missed the press conference - where an explanation was given for Rashard to not go back into the game.

Anyone got something for me?  Thanks....

Behind the Steel Curtain Linebacker Family Tree

My memory is shot these days and I need some help.  Starting with the 70's and our good Friends Andy Russell, Jack Ham and Jack Lambert, I'm trying to recall the linebackers who have been starters for the Steelers.  I'm not looking for everyone who's been on the roster since then, just the guys who have started.  IDYM posted that site that allows you to play the games between generations, as part of the 6-pack the other day, and I've been stuck on the names since then.

Could you help me out? Here's what I have so far, and it's pretty short.

Robin Cole

Mike Merriwether

David Little

Hardy Nickerson

Bryan Hinkle

Greg Lloyd

Kevin Green

Levon Kirkland

Carlos Emmons

Kendra Bell

Joey Porter

Clark Haggans

Farrior, Woodley, Foote, Harrison, Timmons

I also remember they one in the 1st Round a while back, Hugh Green?  Does that sound right?  I can't even recall if he stuck around very long....

Behind the Steel Curtain Question on back ups/lesser known names

New member, please be gentle....

I keep reading about the roster competitions, thanks for all of the great write-ups by the way, but there are a few names that I've been seeing over the last few years that haven't been mentioned as part of the competition (not this year's non-drafted signees).  If anyone could shed some light for me, it'd be appreciated....

Doug Legursky: center

Jeremy Parquet: left-guard

Jason Capizzi: left-tackle

Scott Paxson: nose-tackle

Jordan Reffett: d-lineman

Thanks.....
