Must be patient

At least I keep telling myself that. I was never patient, btw. Don't think I ever will be. I was looking foward to watching Colby Rasmus this season. I haven't been excited over a Cardinals prospect like this since Dan Haren. Things turned out great for him, but not for me. He's done great, but not for my team. Would he have done that wearing a Cardinals jersey, maybe so, maybe not. But I'm still a fan of his, and root him on for the most part unless he faces us. Or if he ever becomes a Cub or play for either team in New York. Quick thing on the trade, yeah, I know, it's been hashed out plenty of times. But I was a Mark Mulder fan before it happened. I was sad to see Dan go, I was excited to see Mulder. It was hard to watch his demise (shoulder surgeries) all while wearing that Cardinal uni. And sometimes I just want to say, enough all ready, end the misery, and retire, at least from the team. Selfish I know, but it's hard to stomach. Seems like a nice guy, but it didn't work out.

Back to Raz. I see potential. I don't get to watch him all that much, seen him in spring training, and on the arcives, thanks to milb.com and all that other good stuff. But it's not the same. It's not the regular season, or live...anyway. He gets named to the Futures Game. And I thought, okay, I get to see him live, on my tv. Come to find out, hurt his groin. Okay, too bad, but he'll come back and do great.

Then even better news, he gets named to the USA Olympic team. I was thrilled. I wanted to see him represent the team. Baseball's out of the next summer games. (That's a story for another day) And I read an article, he seemed excited too. The date to leave was approaching. I go to the box score to check the game and the stats. And see he was replaced by Rico during his at bat. I'm like, now what, his groin issue flared up maybe. Then I read it's his knee. Even worse, and all the stuff that followed. His MCL. While it wasn't as bad as first thought, still not good. A sprain (or is it strain, I get those two mixed up). No olympics. Out for a month. There goes the chance of the September call up as well. D***. He has an awful start, even for him, gets back on track, has a hiccup or two, then the injuries happen. I can't even begin to imagine how frustrating it is for him. It'd drive me crazy.

In short, all the best to him. May he close up the last week of the season on a good note, get stronger, learn from it, and do well in Winter Ball. Guess I'll have to wait til next season to see him. For now, I'm hoping The Cardinals make that wild card, my gut says no, but you never know. There's nothing more exciting than playoff baseball. I just hope my team is in it. It's not as much fun rooting for other guys/teams.

"Good things come to those who wait." Let's hope so!

A little too close for comfort

When I seen that Tatis homer off of Franklin I think to myself 'it's over' and 'here we go again.' Even Dan and Al were basicly saying the same thing. I see Ryan Franklin out there, and to me that says 'let's blow it' Yeah, I know Tony doesn't have many choices, but it's almost like giving up. And then to my surprise he's out there for the 10th too. You've got to be kidding me! I'd rather see Kelvin out there. And I've been hard on him in the past. Yeah, he got himself into trouble in the innings that he pitched, but he surprised me by keeping it together and getting the key outs. And hope that he keeps it up. I want to pull for the guy.

K Mac proved himself yet again. As if he needed to. There's been outings where he's given up runs, but for being used to much, and for being a rookie, this guy still wows me. And his numbers against the lefties is only getting better.

Welcome back Albert Pujols. We were waiting. I've been worried as the next fan. There hasn't been many times in his career where he strikes out three times. And when I heard the numbers I almost couldn't believe it. This guy has been good for so long, that when he's off, you can't help but to notice. He's expanded his strike zone, swinging at pitches low in the zone. Part of that may be frustration. The other, he's still hurting. Could you imagine this guy fully healthy, what he could do. There's the elbow, and the legs. Yeah the production is a little down this year, but he's still clutch. And keeps proving himself. Skip had a six hit game. And a great catch. And was on base when Pujols hit that dinger. When El Hombre's on, the team follows.

Carpenter. A big part is glad that he's back, or will be soon, another says, one more outing in the minors. To fine tune things. But he is a Cy Young winner, he's an ace, he's tough. He knows what he's doing, and even being in that club house, with the others, will be a boost itself. And now to wait for Adam. I'm a little worried there. Odd injury, and could still cause some issues.

Anthony Reyes has been traded to The Indians. I forgot the guys name (sorry!) I wish the best for Reyes, may he find confidence in himself and compete once more in the majors. Happy Mo made the deal. Let's see how the new guy can help our Double A club, but at the same time, I want to see Reyes do well for himself.

Just glad they pulled it off, I was about to give up on them, and they pull this off. And against The Mets. Even sweeter. Way to prove me wrong.
