I know it's not football but this man was one of my heroes. Monster muscle car man.
Black Magic Mocker 2012-3
This is my final mock this year. Just a single round. I'd put in explanations but it just takes me too long. I'll field comments as best I can. I'm railroading again so no time these days. Ive been under the impression that this years draft pool was shallower than last year. But that's probably due to the huge impact last years rookies had on the season. i still think 2010's draft was deeper still.
I will say that the Vikings will slip up and let the fact they need to bring in fans affect their first round decision, which throws the first proverbial monkey wrench into it. I was going to put in a couple trades but, these are hard enough as it is. I've had a version of this swimming in my head for about 5 months now. In my head it looks like a big old lava lamp full of bubbles with names on them. Not sure where that came from.

RIP Rich Saul Respect for a Warrior
Old timers remember how it used to be. Year after year of Ram offensive line dominance. One such era was the mid 70's when we had greats such as Slater, Mack, and Harrah. Saul was the Center, the guy who they all credit for running the best O-line we ever had. He's not in the Hall but he's part of the reason both Mack and Slater are, as he was mentor to both. He was a good one.

Draft Fans we want you!
The Mocking the Draft site at SBN does live mock drafts every year and we're loading up for our 3rd one this year, and guess what? You guys don't have a representative yet. I can't remember who usually does it but, right now it'll be done by someone who may not have your best interests at heart. You can change that. Tampa Bay needs a hero. Do you want Claiborne? Do you want to trade down? I'd hate to see you guys get a long snapper with your first round pick. Someone needs to step up here guys. Linkage below for signups. Starts tonight, Friday the 13th, yes. At 7pm eastern.

Hey Buffalo draft fans At least one of you is needed
As many of you probably know we have faux live mock drafts over at Mocking the Draft. You guys usually have a representative but seem to be missing one for this one. It starts at 7pm eastern time and we need a Buffalo rep. I'll post a link to the sign-up sheet and hopefully someone from your site will show up and do you guys right. We trade picks too. So here's your link come on over!

We have a live draft going on over at MTD tonite it starts at 5pm mountain time. We do this every year a couple times a year and guess what? For the first time since I've been involved it would appear you guys don't have a representative yet. It's not like the Broncos faithful, and if I'm overstepping my bounds I apologize. Hopefully someone from you r site will step in and cover your draft needs for the Live one. I'll post a link to the sign-up sheet. We do trades of this years picks and the community is pretty lively durin gthe draft. It goes on this weekend until we get 7 rounds in so hurry on over. here's your linkage

Steelers retain Cotchery
Oh well, rather have Simpson. We'll see how that goes, eh?
Who is William Hayes?
Well apparently he's the newest Ram. Just another guy who has health issues.
Why the Rams will not be trading the #6 pick in the draft
My most frequently uttered mantra when it comes to what to do with high draft picks, is to trade down. I always want to see us multiply our picks, as long as we have so many needs. This year is no different, however, I'm beginning to think we should just stay where we are. This has nothing to do with needs, as much as it does value.

Rams results for the 2nd 2012 MTD Live Mock
Well we're done with another version of a live mock over at MTD! I know the Blackmon camp is going to burn me in effigy for the decision to take DeCastro over Blackmon. We're out of Kalils range now so he's moot but the fact is, most of you Blackmon guys don't want to take Kalil before Blackmon anyway.
Hear me out.
We need to have the kind of O-line that allows us to do anything we want on offense. It's not, and never was, JUST about the passing game. We have one of the best RBs ever and he's also, been getting his ass kicked right along with Sam. I wasn't ready for us to pick Sam when we did, but we did. Fine. We supposedly had a left tackle worthy of consideration as his protector of the future so the decision at the time wasn't nearly as assnine as I thought, until.....
This happened, then later this happened, causing us to consider this. Now we're actually going to reconsider? To that I say horse shit. But I don't think Snead is going to return any more of my 'friendly' email suggestions than DeVaney did. So he's probably staying. We can't just rely on the chance of the possibility of the potential of Smith maybe improving to the possible point where he might be able to help the O-line out. And we have Saffold and now, Ojinaka on the payroll. We signed a great starting Center and have a rising back up Center on the roster. We have a mauler guard in Dahl and the fact is, we need another one any way. Steven Jackson called me this morning and told me so.
After DeCastro we concentrated on defense with BPAs at position of need. We could have used another OLB but we stuck to our principals, and by sticking to our principals I mean we failed to trade into some more picks. The rules allowed for trading future years picks to beef up the look of each teams draft but we left our future picks alone. Some guys completely mortgaged next years draft to look good in this one. I bitched about it, like I normally do, but it was allowed. Next time it's not allowed and that will level the playing field in favor of those of us who have morals, by those of us who have morals I mean those of us who were unable to trade our future picks so we were stuck with them.
Floyd, Wright, Hill and Jeffry were all gone by the time we picked at #33. So, once again, WR had to take a back seat...........BPA all night all day. Cox, Poe, Still and Brockers all being gone as well, we liked the idea that only 2 CBs had been taken. So at #33 we went with #3 on our CB list, 6' Stephon Gilmore, and figured we'd get either a DT or a WR with the #39 pick. Sanu got picked at #34 which got a groan out of me, but Worthy made it to our next pick and the top WRs left were Criner, Streeter, Randle and Dwight and Marvin Jones. We wanted a good DT so Worthy it was.
Throughout the second round, all those WRs got picked except Dwight Jones, and not one of us was real impressed with him at #66. We still needed an OLB and our choices were LaVonte David, Emanuel Acho, Keenan Robinson, Terrell Manning, and a bunch of ILBs or 3-4 OLBs. Position of need still commanded this decision. Guys we passed up on included recent TST darling, Ryan Broyles, Marvin McNutt, and several decent O-linemen including OTs Mitchell Schwartz and Zebrie Sanders. David was the highest rated guy so we got him. At #97 Dwight Jones was still there so we went for it, realizing our decision to pass him up was a good one.
At the first pick of the 6th round I nearly didn't get to the draft in time, I logged on just in time to see that we were on the clock for a round that only allowed 2 minutes per pick. I could say I was trying to capture my inner DeVaney and it nearly worked. My only regret was that Derinda had nothing to do with my tardiness. Anyway I pulled a rabbit out of my ass and remembered how fast Chris Owusu was in his latest 40 yard dash. So in fond memory of Al Davis, I made an executive decision. Actually I watched a lot of Owusu back in 2010 when watching Stanford was something only Pac-10 fans did. He was great back then so what the hell?
We were now down to one pick left, and I and Will threw out names for who we thought was needed. We were sure we needed a RB. Will said he liked Daniel Herron from Ohio St. I agreed or at least pretended to agree, then right before the pick came up, I tricked him. I got him to agree to Jeff Fuller and he went for it. That's how it went. Honest.
Will was so pissed off that he went to Roger Goodell and filed a grievance. He got Jeremy Shockey to write up an affidavit stating that I had set him up for the trick because of a bounty Doug M put on drafting DeCastro instead of Blackmon. I guess there was something about sending a message to some unruly bloggers. Then Will stated that I furthered the deception by throwing the last 4 rounds of the draft in an effort to deceive the Rams and their affiliates. Little did I know that he'd paid Derinda off to get me to talk in my sleep, and recorded it. It was a complete and detailed outline of my plan, to play back for Goodell.
In the noble move of relieving the franchise of the burden of dragging all our names through the mud, I've decided to enter a plea of guilty and accept my sentence. Yep. I'm being suspended indefinitely from mock drafting. Goodell will wait until next April and review my case. As restitution for Will, the Rams have to play in London now once a year. After each game they all go to Wills house and sing God save the Queen on his front lawn. At least Long and JL have to. I leave the mocking in good hands now and will lurk in the shadows and offer support
Anyway there you have it. We got DeCastro, in addition to some pretty good WR prospects in the last 3 picks. I want to rid our WR corps of it's entire lineup with 2 exceptions: Danny Amendola, and either Pettis or Salas, not both. I think our defensive additions are top notch on all 3 accounts and will all start. So here's what we got.
But before I go let me just say this....Just as it has been in the past, this was a team effort. The team consisted of Buckeye, now known by the nickname, Josh Wehrle, UK who Willnotbedefeated, Jim Morrison and myself. Jim couldn't be there so he sent his brother, resulting in having dueling Dougies on the team. Now I feel like I'm introducing the members of a band.
After the jump you'll see what I posted as a comment on the Live Mock recap, be gentle.....

Help wanted: GM for MTD live draft
It appears you guys aren't being represented yet in the Live draft over at Mocking the Draft. There's a series of live mocks every year over there that mimicks what real GMs and teams war rooms go through every draft season. If you'd like to participate go here and volunteer. I know the Raiders are all but out of the running for picks this year but you still have some next year you could give up just to get into this. Come on over and give it a whirl.
Tebow Keeps the Rams Home!!
You want to fill the Ed? Say you just bought an NFL franchise and you're deciding whether or not it should be relocated. After turning the reins over from cartoon characters to real football people you step back and take a look at how things look.
We got holes. Damn do we got holes. Oh well football decisions should be left to football guys. But....
We could use a back up RB and a back up QB and there's this guy....I don't know if you've heard of him, he's probably available for a future draft pick. He'd fill both needs and he could sub as the team chaplain. Hehehehehe Yup I'm going there.

There goes Bartell, kind of figured this, eh?
Add to Jason Brown, Bannan, and Robbins, the roster is really opening up now.
Black Magic Mocker 2012-2
This mock is my March version. I don't know if I'll do an April version. It's sure nice being laid off but chances are if I'm not working next month I'll be pan-handling on Burnside in Portland. I'm only doing the one trade, it's the same deal as before. First round is here and All 3 rounds are here
Alright, we know Mannings going to the Dolphins, right? Right? Well I'm mocking him there. Once again I don't think Holmgrens ready to throw in the towel on McCoy, at least not for the price of 2 first rounders. So we're left with the same deal I thought we'd get last month on the Original 2012 BMM.
First round after the jump, the next 2 rounds are here. Only 3 rounds again. Keep in mind, I didn't waste our time with a poll when you proceed to hammer me. (Originally posted on Mocking the Draft)

Armond Armstead going pro!
Little brother Erik got out of his USC commit and now Armond is out, as well. This is as reported by ESPN. I doubt there would be a problem with draft eligibility, as Armond has already graduated. He's got every medical red flag you could ask for, and then some.
MTD 2012 LIVE MOCK DRAFT THREAD #2
second half of the first round . This is the same Live mock that's got over 900 comments so here we go starting around the middle of the 1st round
What's everyones thoughts on Les Snead?
Hey, all, dbcouver from TST here. As most of you probably know Director of Player Personnel, Les Snead accepted a job with the Rams as our new GM. Personally, I haven't got any idea how good or bad any of our prospects were before hiring Snead. He had to accept knowing his authority won't be absolute. Fisher will have an expanded, though as yet undefined, role in personnel decisions than most head coaches.
Just wondering what the fans here at your fine establishment have to say about Snead. I'll link this Fanpost over at TST to share your input. Thanks guys.

Statistics show we don't know how to draft! Shocking!
This just in! We suck! Now we can see why. This table from Drafttek.com illustrates the success of draft picks by whether or not they are still with the teams that drafted them. Many players have simply switched teams but that doesn't mean they were the right picks in the first place so this is a measure of the actual decisions made on draft day in the war rooms across the NFL. Look who's in last place in percentage, and it's not even close.
8 New Signees
The most interesting player I see is Tim Barnes, OC Mizzou....
The others seem like same old mediocrity. Barnes was thought of as a mid-round pick last year, but never got the opportunity to really make an impression. I'd like to see him help us out at the position, maybe compete for the starting job.
I wonder, is DeMoff making these transactions? What's the mindset? Why these names?
Latest news on our new head coach
I'm sure this roller coaster has more time left on the ticket. I've heard this pick up steam all day and especially tonight. Fisher for HC and to have a say in the new GM. I'd be alright with this, if he indeed got Floyd Reese from the Pats.
This is the best explanation of the Trade Bradford scenario I've read
Mike Dietrich also went into a lot of detail on this subject putting my questions pretty much to rest but here's some actual numbers and cap hit information.
A Familiar name pops up for the potentially vacant Rams Coaching spot....
Rams fan here, some of you may know me from MTD, I usually come around during the off-season plugging our live mocks. Anyways I wanted to start up a conversation with you guys about your thoughts on your former coach Jeff Fisher. The rumors abound for us this time every year, whether it's which top 3 draft pick we're gonna get, which coach is on the hot seat, which players won't be around next year, yada yada yada.
The value of our pick just went up!!!
Hopefully RGIII doesn't think the same way!
Seems like things may not be so bad
SI.com article from today (Wed 09/14)
Final 53 man Roster
Seems like this is the thing to do these days so here goes. I'll start with the obvious; Jones, Brown and McQuaide. This leaves 50 spots for the rest. I'm thinking 26 offense and 24 defense, because of defensive flexibility and cross positional skills.
