According to Baggs, Bengie wants a 2 year deal from the Giants but there have been "no conversations." This makes me more interested in offering Bengie arbitration as I think he'll likely decline to look for that ellusive 2 year deal.

BTW my first fanshot so I hope I didn't screw it up.

Some of the best sportswriting on the internet may be found at Joe Poznansky'd blog. I'd urge you to check it out if you've never seen it before, it's really, really good.

McCovey Chronicles Woohoo!

OK, enough agonizing about the Hillenbrand deal.  Either Accardo will be the second coming of Nathan or he won't and all the gnashing of teeth in the world won't change it.

The Giants have won 4 in a row for the first time all year, including 2 against the first place Padres, the offense is on fire for the first time this year, and it's a fun time to be a Giant fan.  I am excited to check them out tonight and hope they can keep the good times rolling.  Go Giants!

McCovey Chronicles Interesting Bill James Article

I found this article by Bill James interesting, and thought that some of the more sabermetrically minded might find it so as well.  I'm not the biggest stat-head around, but it seems like James is reevaluating a number propositions that are conventional wisdom in the sabermetric community.

The article is here:

McCovey Chronicles Quotes from Jerome

The Chron had a little sidebar story about Jerome today:

Nothing really new in there, but it did piss me off.  How can you give up on a 24 year old pitcher who had had some success already, and write it off to needing a "change of scenery?"  What could the Giants have done to get him to lose the weight that Dusty got him to lose?

The whole thing just leaves a bad taste in my mouth, much more so than this wasted season.
