Post-bye week thoughts

27

The last play of Auburn-Georgia made me glad for Steckel and this defense. An unfortunate deflection can happen to any defensive back. I'm not part of the crowd that wants to make that deflection...

The Fat Man Rides Again

I must admit, I thought Mangino was brilliant. He was a fabulous tactical coach. As mad as I was about the 2007 Orange Bowl, I couldn't criticize what he did with his opportunity. He absolutely embarrassed Frank Beamer. Like many talented people, Mangino could be his own worst enemy. I hope that he's really turned it around, because the way he left KU was just a shame.

Mizzou's OL paves the way

21

For all the well-deserved plaudits the Missouri defensive line gets, the offensive line may be the best unit on the roster.

Tough Loss

38

I still saw nothing that weakens my conviction that this Missouri team will be East champs.

Two Pre-Game Thoughts: South Carolina at Missouri

Gary Pinkel & the Lasso of Truth If Gary Pinkel were ensnared by Wonder Woman's lasso of truth during the first quarter against Murray State he would not have proclaimed that his Tigers would win...

Anatomy of a big pass

24

A breakdown of Maty Mauk's 52-yard pass to Jimmie Hunt in the third quarter of Missouri's 36-17 win over Florida.

2 post-game thoughts

19

This pass rush is real, and this offensive line is real.

Trotter: Matt Flynn Released. Seattle gets picks.

Seattle gets a 2014 pick from Oakland and a 2015 pick returned via voided trade.

Flynn trade: Seattle receives Oak's 5th-round pick in 2014. The 2015 conditional pick (also 5th rd) is voided b/c Flynn not on '15 roster.

DC's Post-Game Thoughts

6

The "sneaking up on people" portion of the schedule is over.

Seahawks: Explosive but still searching for rhythm

Picking at the leftovers of the Jacksonville game.

Two thoughts on IU-MU

34

Mizzou dominated on both sides of the ball, particularly at the line of scrimmage, got out to a lead and made the fourth quarter boring.

Hawks beat Panthers: Thoughts from the cheap seats

It was a different kind of pretty from where I sat.

Two thoughts on Toledo

23

Were you aware that Gary Pinkel coached at Toledo for a decade? Me neither.

Only the foreshadow knows

Seattle played Carolina in week 5 last season, a game that quietly told us a lot about the 2012 Seahawks. What will this game tell us?

Pre-Season Impressions: Offense

With the regular season on the near horizon, I wanted to document a few impressions from the pre-season. Since this is a .gif-free post, and I'm knocking off some blogger-rust, I figured I'd leave...

OT (sorta): What Are You Doing for Draft Night? I Hope You Will Dine Out for Life.

A bit of a public service announcement... It's been a while since I have posted anything on Field Gulls. Work and family responsibilities and all that. (Not that I've been missed with all the o...

CSU 84, MU 72: 2 post-game thoughts

28

No one at RMN was so delusional to think CSU could not win, but that was a very disappointing performance.

Mizzou-Ole Miss: 2 post-game thoughts

128

Bleeding clock only does one thing for certain: cut down the number of possessions for the offensive team. If you make it easy for the defense to get stops then push the ball down the floor you...

Two thoughts from dcrockett17

36

Missouri as jack-of-all-trades and Alex Oriakhi as quiet hero.

2 Post-Game Thoughts

44

This is a difficult loss, but nothing that can't be overcome.

The Seahawks, the Super Bowl, the off-season

There's no magic to this. To get to the big game you have to make the big plays.

Mizzou-UGa: 2 post-game thoughts

Flip needs an occasional night off.
