First of all, we heard much less of the pumped in music. Good job there.

Grade for Decreased Pumped in Music - Pass

BUT, if you want to play we will rock you for as a pump up during defense, please do not play it for THREE DOWNS!

The crowd did not respond to it on first down.
The crowd was LOUDER without the music. Penn State fans are generally football savvy. We know when to get loud, thank you.
By third down people were totally sick of it. My dad turned to me and said, "Does anyone actually care that they're playing the song?" Once again after it stopped, it got louder.

I almost forgot to mention, a the beginning of the game they attempted to utilize the "Boom Boom Clap" / "Buddy you're a boy" intro to Queen's "We Will Rock You" again for THREE DOWNS. On first down, everyone looked around and wondered what was going on. The same followed when it was played on second. It mildly caught on 3rd down, but it the involvement was poor. In all it was very distracting and took the crowd OUT of the game.

Re-Graded "We Will Rock You" - EPIC FAIL

Seven Nation Army was, for the most part, used appropriately. As I see it, it should be used for moderately big plays - 30 yard passes or runs or defensive turnovers. On a side note - Temple's student section began to mock us on this after they made some good defensive plays. Good job Temple fans. Zombie Nation wasn't over used. Again, this should be used for GAME CHANGING plays such as lead changes late in the game or late game defensive stands or turnovers.

Sweet Caroline's absence from the loudspeaker was refreshing. I know this was due to the Blue Band playing an all Neil Diamond theme but how about we keep it that way? On a side note, we heard much more from the Blue Band at this game and so...

Living On A Prayer Grade

I don't care if this song is starting to catch on. We have NO REASON to be playing this song. At the end of the first quarter when we were up 7 - 3, we were not living on a prayer. I don't care if we're in the 4th quarter and down 56 points. THERE IS NO REASON TO PLAY LIVING ON A PRAYER. I wouldn't recommend any football stadium in the country to play this song. Simply put, we are better than that.

Final Grade for Temple. It's been the best game of the season, in terms of music. Please do not over-do it next week when Iowa comes to town. The liberal use of Queen was embarrassing and please remember:

We are smart fans.
We know when a down is critical.
Support us after a big play, not every play.

Final Grade - D+

We made it through the game but I hope we don't get embarrassed next week. Its time to clean up the act and start living up to being "The Best Show In College Football."

On a side note: During the 2nd quarter where I was sitting a mother and her two children (around 5 years old) showed up and attempted to sit in their seats. However, their seats were occupied by two younger guys who reluctantly left the seats after much cursing. Students and younger fans. Please remember, this is a family activity for many and if you're sitting in their seats don't swear at them. Apologize and leave. I know we can all watch the game without dropping F-bombs. Thanks.
